La Hacienda
Elena started listing out her conditions for Carolina making a visit to New York. The first being that Cameron wasn't going to shove her and their daughter into some house somewhere like a kept woman and a dirty secret. Carolina was coming there to see him, and he should spend time with her - otherwise he might as well come down to the Hacienda on weekends.
Cameron: "If you think it's truly appropriate for Carolina to stay there, then she shall. It is where she belongs anyhow, but take a minute to truly understand what it is you are saying before you make that decision."
Elena scoffed.
"Well of course it's not appropriate. But I won't have my daughter treated like she's not good enough to stay with her father."
Cameron assured her that his people would act appropriately in front of Carolina. She was still skeptical at this, and told him if anyone was nasty to Carolina in any way, they would be on the first flight home.
Cameron: "Not before said person dies in a public forum."
She smirked.
"Even if that person is your wife?"
She told him that it was too late in the evening to take Carolina on a trip, but that they would fly up in the morning.
Cameron: "That's probably for the best, regents from Europe are staying at the mansion. They leave tomorrow, hopefully in the morning...but acuerdo."
Elena laughed, holding her arms over her chest in the cool evening air.
"You left visiting royals to come drink tequila? That woman messed you up more than I thought."
Carolina had been playing in the fountain, and now was coming to her with a very telltale look on her face. She held out her arms.
"Come here, pequena." [baby]
Carolina: "I'm sleepy mami, but I don't want to go to sleep. I want to stay up. So papa doesn't have to go."
Cameron reached out and picked Carolina up, and it gave Elena a little pang to see it.
Cameron: "Dulcita, you have to sleep...I cannot have you arrive to my home and be tired. There is too much to see."
Carolina: "I'm going to your casa?! En serio! Mami! Is it true?!"
Her daughter's excitement was visible, and when she looked at Elena for validation, she smiled and nodded.
"Si, we are going on a trip to visit your papa's home."
Cameron: "It's true. And this means two things - I need to go home to get ready for you and mami, and you need to go to sleep so that you will be well rested and ready to soak in all there is to see."
Cameron hugged Carolina, until she protested that she needed to get to sleep. But Elena was pretty sure it would not be easy to get those little eyes to close tonight. She just hoped she was doing the right thing. But to deny him, was to have him plot against her, and if he wanted his daughter he would take her if he had to. This way she still had some control.
Cameron: "Thank You...for today. You didn't have to do any of this."
"I did it for her."
His arms came around her and she closed her eyes, pressing her cheek against his chest as she hugged him back.
Cameron: "You should get some sleep too...it's sure as hell going to be interesting to have you back in the walls of Hellfire. Are you sure you're ready for it?"
She looked up at him.
"Absolutely not."
She had thought she would never set foot in that place, in that city, again. At least unless it was at Cameron's side.
Cameron: "I shouldn't keep her waiting much longer. I should go."
She smirked again.
"And here I thought you were King."
Her eyes were bright and teasing as she said it, though. Cameron took her hand, and she stared down at it for a moment before looking back up.
Cameron: "It's all going to be okay. I promise."
"I'm going to hold you to that, Cameron King. This is one you cannot break."
Cameron: "I'll see you tomorrow Elena. You've got my digits. Just let me know what aero space to have you picked up from tomorrow."
She nodded, and then he was gone. Carolina was calling impatiently to her, and Elena headed towards home, so she could pack for war.
