Sharon Kelly: Past & Present

Connor laughed. Haleigh hadn't been joking. Connor didn't care what Haleigh thought about him. Haleigh didn't give a damn WHAT he cared about.

"Well that's convenient, because I don't think very much of you at this point, to be honest. Baiting you? I TOLD you I wasn't going to play games... and try as YOU might, I'm going to be true to my word. I was simply calling you out... which it seems I'll be required to do AGAIN, because you keep trying to feint-and-parry my original request. I'm a little surprised.... I've never known a Marine to back down from a challenge."

She replied, leaning forward and putting her elbows on the table. He was stalling, and she didn't have the time or inclination to sit here and go round for round with him. She tried to remain civil.... they WOULD be better off with his help.... but once they got to the mansion.... the gloves could come off. Connor asked Delilah if she was going to go with Haleigh... and Haleigh was dismayed to hear Delilah respond with a lot less conviction than expected. Something felt.... off. What the hell was going on with her? Sharon was her FRIEND.... but Delilah was trying to appear impassioned because Connor was against the idea, and Haleigh didn't like that at ALL.

"Of COURSE you're going with us Delilah! What are you pussyfooting around the topic for? Your FRIENDS need you. What, are you worried he[gesturing to Connor] won't like your enthusiasm? If he doesn't, then he can FUCK OFF. This is WHAT WE DO, Delilah, and in MY opinion, any man who can't accept you for WHO YOU ARE doesn't deserve to share the same ZIP CODE with you, let alone the same bed."

And THERE HE WENT again trying to discourage them from going. He had one HELL of a thick skull.... or maybe he was just too interested in hearing his own voice warning off the inferior, pretty little girls from tackling a task he found too big for his own limited skill.

"Listen Captain Crass.... every time you tell us to forget about the place, I'm going to be right here to remind you that we've ALREADY DECIDED to GO. So you can use your best spooky voice, but we aren't going to be dissuaded. I'm not DISCUSSING our involvement here." Haleigh said, with enough confidence to recoup for Delilah's ambiguity. Maybe she had to break it down to so the dense merc could understand. "WE. ARE. GOING. ARE YOU??"

[ Sharon was ready to leave immediately and if anyone tried to stop them, she'd blow them away with her sonic scream. but at that moment as Morgan defends herself, Alycia and the Six and Nicolas pleads with Sharon...she cant help but to stare off...and see her son...the little boy.]

Kyle...

[she didnt see the PRESENT envrionment anymore. it was just like in the Cathedral when she first arrived and she was lost in a flashback of her wedding to Robert....she was looking at the mansion...THROUGH it...she could hear her boy calling out from the darkness , the many halls and passages.

[but as she comes BACK to reality, she hears Nicolas' voice again and she fixes her silver eyes, now filled with tears, upon him. he may have looked upon her as a mother figure in his days as a young boy after his father had introduced them and Sharon always showed him maternal affection. she couldndt harm him....even now. she didnt WANT to harm anyone in the room. She wasnt gripped by berserker rage like before when under the thrall of mystech...but she had something to resolve and nothing else mattered...well almost nothing. there WAS sthe matter of her paying BISHOP BACK for what he'd done.]

[shaking her head.]

I don't want to stay here.

[ and with that, she opened the doors, and walked out of the conference room. then out into the hall, with no concern as to who might see her. WHERE she might go was possible to assume but not a sure bet.]

:: Alycia felt a lump that seemed to grow to the point of feeling faint.::

:: it was hard to tell just what Sharon might do sometimes, she seemed so out of it one moment and the only real emotion she displayed was that of anger or agitation. She was reacting as the shock of Kyle's status set in...it seemed that more bitterness than anything else was coming out....but it still HURT when she lashed out at Morgan and herself. Morgan defended them and Alycia continued to look upon her changed friend. There's was nothing more for her to say about THAT. She'd done what she could and no matter how much she may have wanted to change the past, she couldnt.::

Sharon...my actions...our friendship...the level of trust we had...HAVE- These things should speak for themselves. You're like a SISTER to me. I would never have knowingly or willingly LEFT Kyle to his fate and deep down...you HAVE to know that.

:: Nicolas pointed out that Alycia's actions prevented Sharon from dying in the mansion and directly made it possible for them both to rise up to challenge Mystech as it flourished in years to pass. Alycia appreciated his timely observation...and rested on that for a moment as Sharon seemed to not be on the verge of attacking them or destroying the room. No, instead, NIcolas' appeal to her seemed to help. She noticed that Sharon often viewed him more like a surrogate son than anything else..this could be a BIG HELP in keeping Sharon from going berserk in the future but if they tried to interfere with her as she left...would that spell disaster??::

:: she watched with uncertainty as the Silver Swan left in a surprisingly peacefull manner. allowing herself to finally, slowly exhale.::

I dont think that was what any of us was expecting...but that probably means she's already thinking AHEAD about what or WHOM to take out her feelings on...if we try to keep her from leaving, she might get violent with US. Should we just let her go...since Alison said that "one way or another, Silver Swan would find her way to Arklay?"

"Like I said, attacking my pride will not make me do what you want. I don't do anything I don't want to do."

He looked at Delilah. It was stupid - pure idiocy - for anyone to go to that mansion. ESPECIALLY if they'd been there before. He looked back to Haleigh.

"And if you know what horrors Arklay holds, and still want to go back there, then you are dumber than I thought, darlin'."

This one was so determined to go, too determined for it to be for humanitarian reasons. She had an ulterior motive, he was sure of it. And no innocent lives, least of all Delilah's, were going to fall victim to her scheming.

"But if there is no way to dissuade you, I'll be your guide, with as much as I know."

This is WHAT WE DO, Delilah, and in MY opinion, any man who can't accept you for WHO YOU ARE doesn't deserve to share the same ZIP CODE with you, let alone the same bed."

[ Delilah spoke low, and only for Haleigh. ]

"That is NONE of your business Davidoff."

[ She could be SUCH a bitch. She really hated Haleigh sometimes. Everyone had to do everything exactly the way she wanted it or they were doing something wrong. And Delilah was sick of being on Haleigh's receiving end of insults and holier-than-thou attitude.

Connor didn't want them to go, and from his perspective, he was right. Only people with a death wish would go to Arklay. Hell, maybe they all did have a death wish. He was trying to protect them, and all Haleigh could do was suggest it made him less of a man. But, oh, she forgot, Haleigh preferred snivelling yes men like Zach.

She massaged her temples at the headache conversations with Haleigh inevitably brought on. But she looked up, startled, as Connor agreed to help them. ]

"Thank you."

[ She turned her head to Haleigh and raised her eyebrows. ]

"I guess we're all going then."

Sharon softened as she looked at Nicolas, and he could feel her affection for him. It heartened him to know that her care for him was not fleeting. As she stood and walked out the door, Alycia asked the big question: let her leave or try to get her to stay?

We cannot keep her from her son, she would really hate us for that. No, I will accompany her. I believe that she will accept my company and I am prepared to accept whatever she does if she cannot. But I will NOT let her be alone now.

Nicolas runs to catch up with Sharon.

I am sorry about all of this Sharon, but I do not want to leave you alone like this. If you want to see Kyle, let's go together. Arklay is still not safe.

As Nicolas speaks to Sharon, he sends two telepathic messages. One is to Alycia.

I will stay in contact with you throughout. If she decides to go, you will need to prepare to follow.

The other message is to Haleigh.

Hales, Sharon has been told about Kyle. We are still standing which is good, but I think she is leaving for Arklay. I will advise you as things occur.

Delilah hissed back, but Haleigh wasn't having it. At this point, she didn't care who's feelings she hurt or who she pissed off or embarrassed.... [but then, did she ever?] she wasn't going to take anything back.... and she didn't lower her voice either.

"I just MADE IT my business. I don't care HOW ruggedly handsome he is. Any man that doesn't give you the respect you've EARNED as a woman, as a cop-- as a HERO for THIS city... [discreetly:] this planet... if won't give you that, then he DOESN'T deserve you, and I'm not going to apologize for wanting the BEST for you. I will SPEAK my mind, Delilah. I will speak my mind, and if you don't LIKE it.... you can kiss my ass."

She held Delilah's gaze for a moment, then shifted them to Connor as he spoke again.

Like I said, attacking my pride will not make me do what you want. I don't do anything I don't want to do. And if you know what horrors Arklay holds, and still want to go back there, then you are dumber than I thought, darlin'.

Haleigh held her hands up as if surrendering.

"Hey, I tried to be civil. You're the one that set the precedent for striking below the belt. If you want to make this a you and me thing, then we're gonna brawl. I'll take you at your measure, every time. Don't expect to get any more free shots in."

She warned. He finally relented and agreed to go with them. Haleigh was just ready to go.... all this chit chat was wasting precious time. Nicolas told her that Sharon had been talked to and that she'd left, presumably for Arklay. Thanks Nic. We'll be on our way shortly. St. James finally agreed to come with us. I'm going to talk with the others, but in case I don't get a chance to speak with you.... help me keep an eye on this guy. I don't like him and it's more than just his abrasive personality and degenerate social skills..... I get the feeling he's got an agenda.... I think you'll know what I mean when you meet him. Haleigh laid a fifty dollar bill on the table... that would take care of the check.... They needed to get back to Illustra and get everyone ready for a return trip to the mansion.

"Thank you..... now if you don't mind terribly.... we ought to be going.... time is of the essence."

<< Morgan noticed that Sharon apparently had a soft spot for Nicolas...and that HE seemed to take a sort of "child like" approach to her...maybe tapping into her maternal instinct? she HAD known him when he was a young boy and he WAS the youngest person in the room. she was thankfull though, that Sharon didnt go WILD and attack them or detroy the room.>>

<< she watched curiously as the Silver Swan left the room with little to say after her initial reaction.>>

Alycia, i think we better get ready....for ANYTHING. Just because she didnt go berserk in HERE doesnt mean she wont out THERE.

I'll call Alison and Ava.

<< as Nicolas went to keep up with Sharon, Morgan pressed a button on the panel in the wall.>>

over the intercom: Alison, Ava? meeting is over and we are still in one piece. Sharon has left and where she's going is not clear. maybe Arklay....but i can't tell. Nicolas is keeping after her. Still no word from Haleigh and Delilah....so...Ava, better let the birds out so they can rejoin their mistress and then we'll just....go from here.

where ever that may be

<< looking at Alycia, None of them had yet found out that Connor was responsible for Sharon's attack...what a BUMP in the road THAT would be for them...considering his relationship with Delilah and her own unusual behavior. Morgan had YET to hear about the exchange at the restaurant.>>

<< out in the hall, Morgan and Alycia follow a few paces behind Nicolas and Sharon.>>

he cares very much for her...like a son would for his mother.

<< Morgan was noticeably moved by Nicolas' concern for Sharon. a reminder that not all men were monsters.>>

darkness falls

<< and in a few moments, Ava made it possible for Artemis and Antiope, who were both behaving rather anxious, to rejoin their "mother" as she began to make her way down to the main floor of Illustra. Ava and Alison joined Morgan and Alycia as they followed Nicolas and Sharon....keeping distance but not losing sight.>>

<< it was early evening now, Illustra was closed to the general public which made things easier for the team and their allies. having a woman in a silver armour bodice with two large birds in tow wasnt exactly normal to see and the fact that the Silver Swan didnt CARE who saw her made it difficult to convince her to WAIT for the others.>>

<< they would ALL be in for a terrible shock though when they rejoined Haleigh and Delilah....for Sharon wasnt heading to Arklay..not just yet. FIRST, she had to pay someone BACK. it was time for them to see that the Silver Swan was NOT to be trifled with.>>

:: Alison and Ava both waited paitently for either Delilah and Haleigh to arrive back at Illustra, or the aftermath of Morgan, Alycia, and Nicolas telling Sharon her son was alive. Sitting with her legs crossed at the knee, Ava could feel Artemis and Antiope become overwhelmed with anxiety. For the most part, the birds were relatively calm, so the sudden spike of emotion was a clear indicator that Sharon had learned that Kyle was alive. Looking to Alison, the precog obviously knew as well. Standing from her seat, Ava's body was suddenly engulfed with winds, before the tornado died down and she was revealed wearing her normal black leather halter styled catsuit uniform with transfiguring whip wrapped around her torso and each mystic dagger strapped to the outside of her upper thighs. With her hair pulled back into a long french braid (think Lara Croft), the goddess was prepared to depart for Arklay whenever Morgan gave the word. ::

:: Like clock work, moments later Morgan informed both herself and Alison, via intercom, that Sharon and Nicolas were headed to Arklay. Agreeing to let Sharon's birds go, both Alison and herself made their way out of the war room and soon met up with MOrgan and Alycia in the lobby. Following Sharon and Nicolas closely, she noticed they weren't going anywhere near where Arklay was located. Leaning over to Alison, Ava softly whispered. ::

"Where on earth is Sharon going?"

on the way

:: Alison stooded and as Ava changed, Alison did a simple turn [think Julie from Charmed] and her outfit morphed on her body. once again she was wearing the blue corsett and black mini skirt with black high heeled boots. with her hair slicked back and parted on the side. She seemed to be borrowing a leaf from Morgan's fashion sense preferring style over practicality when it came to costumes...especially high heels. When she first arrived at Illustra, Haleigh had once commented that Alison and Morgan made walking in heels look deceptively easy.::

:: she didnt say much, for like ava, she knew it was time. they joined Morgan and Alycia in the crystaline lobby and as Ava asked where they were going, Alison looked at the three women.::

Well I'll say this much...we ARENT going to Arklay right now.

:: as the walked along, keeping a fair distance behind Sharon and Nicolas.::

But we're not going to have to worry about missing Haleigh and Delilah either.

:: she looked almost smug as she said it, indicating that she knew something was coming.::

whatever happens...do NOT interfere.

:: she looked at Morgan, Alycia and Ava. and she HOPED that Nicolas would not be foolish either. This was one of those moments where Alison was doing what she could to make SURE something would come to pass...and in this case...paving the way for what would at first APPEAR to be Sharon attacking a HUMAN. it would seem HARSH...but Alison had already seen what was coming and WHY and she would do what she could to see Sharon get her revenge against this asshole Bishop. He was looking for THEM and ALISON was looking for HIM....the only problem...was that DELILAH was in the middle and Alison seemed prepared to sacrifice her happiness.::

holding a grudge

<< Harbinger's warning seemed ominous as birds everywhere began to take to the air...flying in the same direction through the sky...mainly song birds...but a few seagulls and CROWS too. it was unusual for species like this to move together but the Silver Swan could make that happen. She herself seemed to no longer acknowledge Nicolas as she kept walking.>>

<< they were being lead toward the restaurant where Haleigh , Delilah and Connor were.>>

<< things were about to get ugly....in more than one way.>>

<< birds began to flock in the trees and a round the restaurant...as if laying in wait.>>

Silver Swan comes a calling

find him.....lead me to him, my pets...

[her voice echoed through the "minds" of the birds as they flowed like a ribbon in the sky to comply and soon several birds had confirmed the location of CONNOR. with that...it was clear what she had to do. two things.]

KILL HIM! .....FIND MY SON!..... KILL THE BASTARD!

[ her mind flashing back and forth between the two things at the forefront. now wearing a silver eye mask to accent her costume, the SILVER SWAN was in full effect and as her two gryfalcons circled high above the restaurant, crying out like the birds of pray they were..."the public" began to grew uneasy at the gathering of birds in such a concentrated area and MORE began to recognize the approaching Silver Swan.]

On the inside:

[HALEIGH would be the first of the trio to realize that something was amiss...and that SILVER SWAN was approaching. the others from the Six were just now realizing what Alison meant about them not having to "wait for Haleigh and Delilah" for long...but still...with Sharon not talking...it was unclear what her purpose was. at least to THEM.]

[ SHE knew what she wanted to do.]

As Nicolas walked with Sharon out of the building, the ureg for revenge was overwhelming. But, thankfully, they were not the targets. The target was whoever had attacked her and, to his future dismay, she seemed to know where he was. He simply walked with her, radiating as much as he could an air of "Don't fuck with us" physically and telepathically. It was working although she was being recognized by some of the bystanders as they walked.

As they approached the eatery, he recognized something. Haleigh, with whom he had remained in mental contact, was inside! Was this guy stalking them all!?!? Nicolas face hardened as he realized that there would ebe no way to avoid a confrontation, either the Six and Sharon or Sharon and this poor sap. He decided that it would be Sharon and the poor sap as he "suggested" to the patrons and employees inside that they leave. No control, just advice that fed on what they already felt as they watched a notorious vigilante with four others approach them with an army of birds in attendance. He sent one last message to Haleigh, who no doubt already knew they were there.

Hales, the perp who jumped Sharon is IN THERE with you. Keep eyes peeled, shit is about to officially hit the fan. DO NOT ENGAGE SHARON!! Keep me posted.

approaching the scene

<< more curious than ever, Morgan followed along...the walk was nice...but..it just seemed so ODD...almost RIDICULOUS that they were FOLLOWING the Silver Swan through the streets...thankfully though, Rampage's telepathic illusion made them all appear to just be in normal clothes.>>

why do i feel like i'm walking toward the edge of a cliff?

<< she said to Ava , Alison and Alycia...just as Alison warned them. She looked up and saw birds flying through the air..en masse...>>

oh...kay....

<< looking at Alison...she told them NOT to interfere.>>

not to interfere in WHAT?

<< she seemed irritated that her best friend didnt FILL THEM IN as she often did. Alison was setting something UP...using her precognition and the events around her....and Morgan didnt like being kept out of the loop.>>

<< b irds landing all around and people clearing away but still wanting to gawk, made morgan feel like she was in a modern day remake of the birds as Sharon kept walking toward the restaurant.>>

<< she trusted Alison, even though it felt like they were flying blind and this HAD to be happening for a reason. so she kept cool, and kept herself from doing anything MORE...but as Alison indidcated for them to stop, Morgan couldnt help but to call out for Nicolas.>>

Nicolas! Alison says to come back here. It's...not safe.

<< She beckoned for him to join them. If Haleigh and Delilah were inside...then what of them? Morgan couldnt use her discs...not YET. she had to trust Alison..and yet..Alison hadnt told HER about the suspicion of Delilah NOR did she indicate that she had KNOWN that identity of the attacker all along!>>

Ava...be ready to call up a fog or some OTHER weather disturbance to provide us with a chance to escape if we needed....if Alison says we should not interfere...then I think we should trust her.

Vengeance

[just as Morgan called for Nicolas, Sharon turned one last time and looked at Nicolas.]

Go back.

[ her final warning, in that haunting voice as she turned away. Artemis and Antiope perched nearby on a light pole...watching eagerly and while many people were scurrying away at the sight of the Silver Swan...OTHERS were inexplicably trying to take pictures. one woman even wanted an AUTOGRAPH but was pulled away by a waiter who was now hiding under a table.]

[ she closed in on Haleigh, Delilah and Connor.]

They told me where you were.

[referring to the birds as she she pointed at Connor with her armoured covered hand. even wearing the silver eyemask, it was obvious to Delilah and Haleigh that the Silver Swan had made the scene.]

You're going to PAY for what you've done!

[ she grabs Connor by his head...SLAMMING it down on the table before yanking him up by the neck as though he were a rag doll, courtesy of her super strength and HURLING him across the room and THROGH the door out on the street.]

[ she IGNORED Delilah and Haleigh completely as she turned ...to go after her prey and pay him BACK. Delilah nor Haleigh (immediately) would know just what she meant...it sounded like she was attacking HIM as though he were another wife beater or man who had victimized a woman...but in fact he WAS. he had attacked HER. Delilah didnt know it...and Haleigh had just registered Nicolas' telepathic call. at least SHE wasnt on the receiving end of the Silver Swan's brutality this time.]

[ what was going on?? Silver Swan was getting REVENGE. and as she burst out onto the street...BIRDS began to attack Connor...swarming, striking and swarming.]

HURT HIM BAD!!

[ the birds were just a painfull prelude to the main event.]

Nicolas stopped as Morgan called out to him. At the same time, Sharon gently sent him back to the group. He took a couple of steps back but remained ahead of the group. He disabled any device he ocould see that was taking pictues and waited for what was to come. He knew that Morgan was anxious for him to play it safe but he felt a responsibility to Sharon. He would let her do her thing and he would be there for her.

As he saw her walk inside, she attacked the man sitting with Delilah and Haleigh. CONNOR ST. JAMES WAS THE ATTACKER??!! That was really too bad...for him.

He watched as the birds did their work...

Connor had just started to get up to leave when Sharon entered the restaurant. He barely had time to register the fact when she was on him, and he found himself out in the street, face already bloody.

He covered his head, trying to protect himself from the swarm of birds that had all zeroed in on him. Oh, what he wouldn’t give for a blowtorch right about now.

[ Delilah looked up and saw Sharon coming towards them. Delilah wore a confused expression and started to stand. ]

“Sharon, why aren’t you waiting for us at-“

[ But before she could finish the question, Sharon had slammed Connor’s head into the table and thrown him out into the street. ]

“SHARON! What are you DOING?!”

[ Delilah ran after her, not comprehending what was happening. She called to Haleigh. ]

“She must be having some sort of flashback – projecting it onto Connor. We have to restrain her before she kills someone!”

[ The birds themselves were attacking Connor now. Delilah thrust out her hands, sending a forcefield beam into the swarm, which spread and surrounded Connor from the birds’ attack. ]

“Sharon – stop this, NOW!”

outside the restaurant

:: Alison stood, stone faced as the attack began. Nicolas being the first to realize that Sharon was attacking the same man that had RESCUED HER so many years ago. they WHY should become QUICKLY evident to Nicolas, and Haleigh...ALISON already knew and she now turns to Ava [whom she's depending on to back her play] , Morgan and Alycia.::

The Silver Swan is attacking Connor St. James...the man who rescued her from Arklay Mansion....the man who not even hours ago tried to KILL HER.

:: she dropped that on them in her cold tone as she looked at them.::

I saw this coming and chose not to prevent it and in order to ensure none of you would interfere, i did not say anything until now. This man...is a seed of GREAT trouble...we've yet to discover just how deep it goes...but he WILL survive this attack.

:: she motioned for them to remain where they were as MorningStar emerged and yelled for them to restrain Sharon while using her powers to protect Connor.::

Nicolas...continue to do what you can to stop the onlookers from seeing/remembering this. Ava, call up a cloud burst and a fog. We need to get out of here. We're leaving Silver Swan AND Connor behind....

:: looking at Morgan.::

It is what MUST happen.

:: KNOWING Delilah would be furious, it did not please Alison to do this BUT... she holds out her hand and beckons...a rushing/chiming sound is heard as Delilah is gently but steadily "slid" away from Connor over towards the group [think Prue from Charmed :D ]. She will not be able to resist the TK pull.::

Nicolas, inform Haleigh to seize control of a car and to get back to Illustra as fast as possible. She can use her mechanical empathy to ensure no traffic lights hinder her. Morgan...when you're ready...get us out of here while Ava's weather disturbance provides a suitable distraction for cover. Silver Swan will be fine...and Connor will survive.

:: she'd save her personal take on this AND whatever explanation Delilah demanded of her for when they got back to Illustra. there would be lots of anger...and lots of things to come out, and Alison would not be popular with one of her dearest friends...but it HAD to be this way.::
