SOOOO now that Ive actually read through (instead of just assuming which non cannon story CF picked)...
THIS non-canon story was the one I did to help give the six a BREAK from the heaviness of the Set storyline in mainstream.
I'd been watching the Fog (the original) & was directly inspired by that.
In the opening, I had Victoria King (the daughter of Morgan & Nicolas from that tragic alternate timeline) in the care of the immortal weather witch Ororo, along w/ several other orphaned children that were in some way connected to the Six.
Ororo opens the story w/ her ghost story about the ship in the fog.
In the non-cannon stories, I always feel like it's easier to assign roles or basic presentations to the characters since i'm trying to have everyone be different versions of themselves & all the players here took that direction very easily.
Morgan, Ava & Blaze were the town divas, spoiled rich girls who, as Michael put it "have the world before them". Nicolas was a very rich man but still a hard worker & very involved in the community. He was also a widower, having been married to Alycia, who died along with Cameron, Christopher, Stavros, Robert Kelly & others connected to the main characters in the story. Karen was the mayor of the town, Michael her commander in chief police officer & Delilah was Karen's assistant. CF did an EXCELLENT job of having Delilah be warm & genuine w/ Karen...but still subtlely sarcastic & @ times bitchy when necessary
I wanted Delilah to be patterened after the character in the movie (played by Nancy Loomis) who was the mayor's assistant & CF pretty much nailed it w/out me having to go into any details on what to do.
The bitchy banter between Ava & Morgan was funny. They had a healthy rivalry but it didnt come between their friendship & there were moments when Ava, Morgan & Blaze expressed their genuine concern for each other during the events of the story . I think we struck the right balance of fun & seriousness in their dynamic.
Alison was the town historian, a precog and a DRUNK...living on the grounds of a CHURCH
I thought that would be twisted & sacrilegious. She was hostile to everyone & even through Karen & Delilah out of her domain with force. She really didnt care about anything or anyone now that her baby brother was dead & no one had listened to her before OR AFTER the accident. She knew what was coming to the town & WELCOMED IT (even though she was ddrunk & out of her mind :haha: )
Sharon was the town's celebrity, a singer who'd come to settle in thunder bay w/ her mutant son kyle & she was the owner of the radio station & it's DJ. she was a widow. She had close bonds of friendship w/ Nicolas & was well liked by most of the others in the town, although Morgan & Ava didn't care for the music she played on her station
Blaze was Kyle's baby sitter & like Alison, she seemd to enjoy boozing it up
But she also was an information junkie & spent alot of time online reading & researching things. She was pretty calm & collected in this story & her comments about Ava & Morgan's wild nights @ the bar w/ their "endless parade of men" were funny to me.
Haleigh was the outsider. A hitchhiker w/ no fear. Her path brought her in direct contact & involvement w/ the curious town of THunder Bay & @ just the right time. In this storyline, Haleigh has amicable relationships w/ Karen and Sharon- @ that time it was RARE to see that. Morgan, Ava & Blaze tried to "mean girl" her & Nicolas defended her, which of course caused drama. :haha: Nicolas obviously was attracted to Morgan but Morgan was very vain, shallow & bitchy. He could never have a SERIOUS relationship w/ her & she often regarded him as a 'boy toy' which explained her territorial behavior toward Haleigh @ the party.
Michael endured the bitchcraft of Morgan & Ava often, oftern regarding them as "bratty" while THEY regarded him as nothing but a "mere mortal" yet they ALL kept their boundaries out of respect for Karen, whom everyone in the town regarded w/ respect & appreciation.
I felt that Karen was very good in this role for this story & Delilah was perfect for her assistant. It's interesting that Delilah had little interaction w/ her "peers"- Morgan, Ava & Blaze , and of course Alison avoided them ALL until the very end when they had no choice but to take refuge @ her domain.
Dominique makes an appearence as the ME & I enjoyed playing her opposite Haleigh, who's reactions to the corpse reanimating & attacking her was awesome LOL.
I enjoy re-reading Nicolas & Haleigh going to rescue Kyle Kelly while Sharon pleads for someone to help him over the radio. Those scenes were well played.
The characters didnt start getting heavy w/ their powers until the fog swept through the town & Delilah made her debut as a stunt driver, flinging Karen & Michael all over the back seat while THEY bickered about their relationship :haha: I liked that even though Morgan & Ava were plenty powerful, it was STILL a challenge for them to rescue Blaze from the pub & they were all terrified.
Cameron makes an appearence as a ghost in this story, helping to save his sister Alison from the vengeful spirits of the fog as she tries to drive them away from her domain.
Sharon fights for her life on top of her lighthouse & soon flies to the others @ Alison's domain.
The story ends w/ Alycia's vengeful spirit attacking Nicolas while Haleigh sleeps. A very suspenseful way to end :nod:
Overall, I enjoyed playing this & its nice to read it again. Everyone does a good job w/ bringing out other facets of their character in these non-cannon stories.
