Illustra - Private Stairwell - Ground Floor

"...THREE!"

:: Cass darted in front of Mike quickly. If anything, SHE was going to protect him. Drawing the pistol she had stashed in her jeans waistband, she moved quickly and with ease. The door slid loudly, letting the dogs know that somebody was intruding. The all got to their feet, snarling and lumbering closer. To Cass’ amazement, the dogs didn’t seem to mind HER. MIKE, however, was a different story. They tried to separate Cass from him, probably because they recognized her as being dead and a threat to humans…as vampires usually are. She gave Mike a panicked look, wondering what to do. She was an animal lover, and the thought of killing dogs, even if they were zombie dogs, upset her. She drew her gun and pointed it at one of them and closed her eyes and fired. ::

She drew her gun and pointed it at one of them and closed her eyes and fired.

NO!!

Mike pushed her hand up, and the shot missed into the ceiling. The sound startled them, but they soon were recovering, the group reorganizing pack-style to try to get at him. He spoke quickly.

See what I see? They only want ME. You are considered an equal, perhaps a superior. This is your time babe. Go full on feral, kick the one at the front's ass when he makes the first charge, then CLAIM me and drag me around the corner. If it doesn't work, I will do the shooting and you keep dragging me and run when I tell you. I see it is killing you to do it. GO!

Mike stayed behind Cass as the scene began to play out...

:: Cass nodded and turned to Mike and buried her face in his neck. She had to make it look good. She felt her facial features and structure turn to that of the VAMPIRE. Her senses already were heightened to begin with, but in her vampire mode, they were all the more clearer. She felt the first dog charge, rather than hear it, and she turned around and HISSED and SNARLED at the zombie dog. The dog snapped back and Cass did a well-placed kick to its chest and hissed again, grabbing her ‘prey’ and dragging it arround the corner. The pack followed and she yowled in anger, hissing at them. In her vampiric form, Cass was more demon than human…although she did her best to grasp at her humanity. She GROWLED again, dropping low to the ground, clasping Mike around his upper body, dragging him to the floor with her. ::

Forgive me, Mike, please….

:: She yowled again and then BIT Mike’s neck, to show that SHE was the one who would OWN him…NOT the dogs. The dogs smelled the human’s blood and got all the more excited - although they did not know what to make of the undead woman. ::

Well damn!!

Mike finally saw the final picture, the full vamp-out. He reminded himself to have a drink after this because his woman was scary as hell right now but still...sexy. And she was less scary by the second and more sexy. What the hell was WRONG with him?!

:: She yowled again and then BIT Mike’s neck, to show that SHE was the one who would OWN him…NOT the dogs. The dogs smelled the human’s blood and got all the more excited - although they did not know what to make of the undead woman. ::

Mike tensed as she bit him, but he immediately sensed it was not a killing wound. One hell of a sell. But he played along, thrashing and screaming in a way that would sell the dogs, but Cass was likely to find [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_JOGmXpe5I"]comical[/ame]. Between yelps he managed to ask one rushed whispered question as she dragged him off...

You still with me Cass?

:: Cass heard the question but she couldn't give an answer right then as one of the dogs suddenly attacked and grabbed her boot. She howled and HISSED as she started kicking both legs, shaking herself free from the dog's grip. Her yellow eyes narrowed and she let go of Mike to jump up onto her feet. She snarled as one of the dogs crept closer to the human. Her yellow eyes flashed in anger, and she kicked at the dog, sending him flying five feet in the air. She immediately picked up Mike, hoisting him ONTO her shoulder and fled, turning the corner and finding an empty room. She closed the door and laid Mike gently down on the ground as she moved a table in front of the door. ::

:: Cass turned around to check on Mike. She didn't bite him that hard but he was bleeding a lot. She knelt down beside him and rubbed her forehead against his. She purred as she kissed him on the lips. She brought her index finger up to her fangs and PRICKED it, letting her OWN blood drip down her finger. She mewed softly as she placed her finger on his wound, instantly healing it. All that was left were two faint red marks on his neck. ::

*softly*: "Yes, I'm still with you..."

:: She was still in her vamp-mode. Her yellow eyes glanced at the door. ::

"Come. We still need to battle the dogs."

Cass was totally Call of the Wild, hissing and kicking ass before hauling him into a room and giving him a kiss before HEALING him with her blood. It was the most amazing thing he had seen her do...except for that one thing last night :garrick:

He sat up as she spoke again.

*softly*: "Yes, I'm still with you..."

:: She was still in her vamp-mode. Her yellow eyes glanced at the door. ::

"Come. We still need to battle the dogs."

He smacked her on the ass as he hopped up, pulling his silenced weapons from his back. He had been watching while he was being carried outside, and he had an idea.

Let's stop fucking around. In 90 seconds start banging on the door and howling and shit. In 15 more seconds come out and prepare to mop up the rest.

Mike hops up on a table and climbs into the AC intake...crawling quickly and quietly over into the room with the dogs. He sat at the intake for that room about 8 feet up, watching as the dogs freaked out when Cass made her move. That was when he stabbed out a small hole with his knife and started picking the dogs off.

Pop! Pop! Pop!

They were bewildered at first, then they finally figured out where he was firing from. But as the remaining few turned to try to get to him...

:: Cass waited until Mike was up in the air ducts before she voiced her displeasure at being smacked. ::

*harshly*: "RAOWR!"

:: She counted to ninety and then went for it, hissing and growling and pounding on the door with everything she had. She heard the dogs freaking out in the corridor and the melee got noisier when Mike started shooting at them...mainly because they didn't know where the shots were coming from. ::

:: When the noise died down, Cass opened the door cautiously. The remaining dogs were congregating beneath a small hole in the ceiling. Cass slammed the door open, and freaked out on them, hissing and snarling. She kicked two dogs and THEY went flying and then she took another one and THREW him down the corridor. She easily picked off the others one by one.... ::

Into NERVOUS

While three humans, a witch and a vampire fought for their lives in Illustra, their super-powered compadres were deep below ground inside NERVOUS.

NERVOUS at a glance was deceiving - the enormous structure was located almost entirely BELOW GROUND. The small plane flies them in low, and they relatively easily are able to locate the hidden entrance, camouflaged by the harsh landscape, thanks to Bishop and Alison Marble's intelligence. They encounter no troubles outside - at NERVOUS, it was not the walls that made the prison, as the team is soon to discover.

The Six enter, and are struck by the sheer enormity of the facility as they begin to make their way down.

Back on the plane, Delilah would mistakenly chalk Bishop's silence up to anger. She monitors the team's movements, but is increasingly upset at leaving them "alone" to face MysTech, as she had with Morgan and her team.

And so...we watch...

Everything was going according to plan. And that seemed really shady to Andrew. But maybe these people knew what they were doing. He still wasn't completely sure, though.

They had to go down. And down. And down.

It was shocking that such huge expanses of rooms could exist under the ground - every staircase they descended opened on yet another floor with high ceilings that seemed to go on forever. Being so far down with so much concrete above his head did not serve to put his mind at ease. And climbing back UP these stairs to get out didn't look so good either.

"I don't want to be the one to say it, but anyone else got a bad feeling about this?"

Nervous

"Well, I certainly do not have a good feeling about it."

What struck Mina was the utter lack of resistance they had encountered. And where were the workers? It was nighttime, of course, but surely a facility such as this had a night shift? Why would MysTech just let anyone stroll in here easy as they please? Her heightened senses told her nothing.

If she didn't know better, she would have said it was a trap. Of course, if that were the case, there would have been tons of opportunities for someone to take them out - or at least try to - already. So what was going on?

"We need to finish this and get out of here. Something is not right."

Down and down and down and down. Staircases no less. And no one was even around to say anything. Yeah, something was up. He stayed silent, focusing his energies (and his six new strategically places eyes) on looking out for trouble...

Mina said:
"We need to finish this and get out of here. Something is not right."

Indeed. For just as Mina spoke the words, the five of them reached a landing that opened into a room with a warehouse-like setup. A voice came over the loudspeakers - it seemed to them like that of a female child.

"Encephalo-scan initiated."

"Invalid access status confirmed. Intruder alert. Commencing red alert status."

"Lethal defensive measures authorized. Defensive measures activated."

Red lights began to flash, and panels opened in the walls of the warehouse revealing plasma cannons which began firing on the team from above.

A thick slab of adamantium slams down behind them, sealing off the door to the stairwell they just came out of. Their only way was forward.

And so, we watch...

Nervous

He should have known things were too good to be true. As soon as they stepped out of the stairwell and into the first room, red lights started flashing and a voice came over the loudspeaker.

Oracle said:
"Invalid access status confirmed. Intruder alert. Commencing red alert status."

“Whoa whoa whoa - what?!”

Oracle said:
"Lethal defensive measures authorized. Defensive measures activated."

“Lethal defenses - what the hell does THAT mean?!”

Silver Swan: “It means run, genius.”

The bird didn’t need to tell him twice as they started being fired upon from above. He motioned Mina to get going and then ran the length of the room, dodging the blasts as they came as if he were running a gauntlet. Reaching the other end of the room he looked behind him and shouted to Silver Swan and Artemis, who were bringing up the rear.

“Come ON ladies! No time to fix your hair!”

Mina was not surprised in the least. It would have been naïve of them to think they were going to waltz right into their destination without any resistance. Andrew, however, WAS surprised and more than a little put out by the fact that they were now being fired upon by photon cannon.

Silver Swan said:
“It means run, genius.”

Silver Swan and Artemis both sprang into action – training together had clearly paid off for the two of them. Artemis drew and loosed arrow after arrow at the high cannons, calling them out to Silver Swan as she did, while Silver Swan swooped towards the ceiling and began tearing the cannon out of the wall with her bare hands.

Titan ushered her forward before using his agility to dodge blasts as he went. Mina grabbed Rich by the hand.

“Time to go.”

Rich might have thought he was invulnerable but Mina wasn’t willing to take that chance, using her enhanced senses to guide them out of the way of the photon blasts before they were hit. The two of them reached the doorway just behind Titan, but Artemis and Silver Swan were still taking out guns.

Titan said:
“Come ON ladies! No time to fix your hair!”

She gave him a disapproving look.

“Andrew – really!”

Silver Swan flew down and picked up Artemis, zooming to meet the others, enough of the cannon taken out than they were easily able to evade the remaining guns. She set Ana-Leigh down lightly and they rushed through the door as a group into the next room.

These sons-of-bitches actually shot GUNS at him?! Somehow he expected more. He actually caught himself being grabbed and led by Mina through the gauntlet of cannon-fire even as he had already turned into a nice heat-resistant Osmium that was similar but not nearly as tough as the unfamiliar metal of the security door he was busy analyzing. At the end, the turned in time to see SS and Ana take up the rear, having taken out quite a few of the cannons.

He walked into the next room as he adjusted his form to an even-harder vibration-resistant Osmium, but he innately knew he had not figured out what that metal was...YET. He stepped forward, part of his brain still trying to work it all out.

The team cautiously enters the next warehouse-like room. It seems deserted...but then so had the rest of the facility. As they begin to move forward, a panel in the ceiling opens and a swarm of Army Eyes drop down into the room. They would latch onto anything producing the slightest amount of heat and detonate on impact.

The Army Eyes roll out of a panel in the ceiling. Rich steps forward.

I got this one. Gimme room and cover your ears.

Lifting both hands then placing them together, the young man grows to approximately 4 times his normal size then turns into dualmount 40 mm Bofors Cannons

and begins to lay suppression fire, targeting and destroying Army Eyes as they emerge from the hole in the ceiling.

Rich did not hesitate - he immediately started taking down the army eyes as they began to flood the room. But as many as he gunned down, more kept coming. It was not in her nature to sit back and watch - ESPECIALLY where MysTech was concerned.

"We've got to plug that hole!"

She was used to leading, so she without thought took charge of the situation.

"Titan, Artemis: draw their fire. Matrix: keep it up!"

How typical. Sharon was throwing his arse to the wolves. Well, he wasn't planning on getting killed by a floating eyeball today! But he did do what he was told.

He started picking objects up from the room and throwing it at the army eyes so that they would lock on him as a target. Ana-Leigh started doing the same...except when she did it, the objects started glowing and exploded when they hit their targets. He had to admit, that was pretty kick ass.

"Shit! RUN!"

When they sufficiently had the army eyes' attention, it was time to go. He and Artemis barreled away from Silver Swan and Rich. Andrew started climbing various crates that were stacked in the room and leaping from stack to stack to avoid being hit (and blown up) by the army eyes. But there sure were a lot of them.

"Hurry up Sharon!"

That idiot.

"I TOLD you"

Rich was covering her with cannon fire as she hovered waiting for her opportunity, but she paused to take out a few stragglers with a sonic attack, the army eyes practically disintegrating from the vibration.

"DON'T use my name. It's SILVER SWAN here moron."

Ana-Leigh and Andrew had led a large part of the army eyes away. More were coming through, but Rich was taking them out before they had a chance to lock in on her. Now was her chance. Without thought to her own safety, Silver Swan rose up to the ceiling panel. She would have to trust in her teammates - luckily she knew she could depend on Ana-Leigh and Rich to have her back. Andrew, she was't so sure. But hey, maybe one of the army eyes would get him.

Reaching the panel, she used her class 10 strength to forcefully pull it across the opening. She pounded the metal together, jamming it sealed. She could hear the army eyes trying to get through from the other side.

"I don't know how long that will hold - we've got to finish these ones off and get out of here!"

There were still about a dozen in the room, chasing after Ana-Leigh and Andrew - and they were between them and the doorway forward.
