Okay..these movies were fantastic...one of the FEW times hollywood took something like a video game, comic book or what not and successfully adapted it to the big screen.

Milla Jovovich was the perfect choice for Alice....she feminine, fierce, steel edged...yet she had a softness and a vulnerability that you could see in moments where she was quite horrified by the events taking place (like when that officer got cut up and quatered by the laser beams)

I couldnt STAND "Rain"(Michele Rodriguez) in the first Resident Evil...not only was she cross eyed....she came off like she was a big tough bad ass...and yet she spent MORE TIME being a human snack bar for the zombies than anything else! she mustve got chomped only like a dozen times in that movie LOL!

now the SECOND one...Resident Evil: Apocolypse..i LOVED IT all the way round. Milla of course was fantastic....just so fluent with her physicality...and so steadfast in her resolve...not quite as feminine looknig as she was in the first one though. and Jill Valentine....they nailed her to a TEE with her outfit..and her look. i was so happy about that! I liked how the plot of the original was picked up on in the second one...right where it had left off...the fight scenes were excellenet..the movie was just wonderful. I rushed out to buy it on DVD when it was released...its one of the top selling DVD's right now too.

who else has seen these two movies...what are you thoughts on them?

Seems I'm the first to comment, lol. that's new.

I LOVED the movies too, lol. Hollywood Production does tend to slaughter games/books/comics [catwoman, with halle berry, anyone?] but overall this was very well done.

they avoided the feel that this was a 'dawn of the dead' type remake, which i liked. Special visual effects were awesome. Horror was truly scary, versus the silly feel it gets in most cases. the mutant dogs were VERY well done.

Paul W.S. Anderson did a GOOD job with direction AND screenplay. I like dthe flash backs and such and i liked that they carried the story onto bigger, logical things in the sequel. The many executive producers also deserve credit for their work. costuming was good. believable.

Lol, i tolerated Michelle Rodriguz. I think i've gotten used to her playing the 'butch' type woman and I expected that to be her role so i wasn't to offput. shame they had to kill off all the good-looking guys, but at least they didnt do 'em all in the beginning like its custom to do, lol. the Red Queen was very creepy. Thumbs up.

The second one was just as visually stunning and i was pleased with the direction of the storyline. Alice was a bit more of a powerhouse and less feminine in this chapter but I dont think we could have successfully held onto the shocked, disturbed-by-all-this-shit Alice, seeing as she couldn't have discovered much more that she didn't suspect in this one with the was the story is set up. Jill Valentine was a positive character, its nice to see a horror-type film where the women aren't acting like helpless shrieking fools and counting on the macho men to rescue and protect them. Kinda felt bad for the way her love interest turned out, lol, such a bummer.

the Nemesis program was a nice addition. Very gruesome, but well done, a formidable foe. I also like the way they left this movie ending open as well. there are literally over a dozen Resident Evil games and I'll be happy to follow the movies as long as they keep up the QUALITY work.

To get it out of the way; I love these movies! They're amazing. The Red Queen was creepy as hell in the first one and they had such beautiful casting for Jill Valentine. Sienna Guillory was perfect. I can't wait to see the next one come out.

I wish there were some good fanfiction out there on the movies. There's a lot of game fanfic (good and bad) but I don't really play the games so I can't really understand them.

And on to why I'm really posting...

Are you kidding! I mean yeah, she got chomped on but so did almost everybody else. There were zombies! Despite all that Michelle Rodriguez was amazing. She was such a hard ass. Which was her role. I mean what else was she there for then to be zombie food and kick ass? I loved when she shot the "survivor." "Bitch ain't moving now."

Butch! are you kidding? Why would you say butch? She plays strong kick ass women who doesn't take anybody's shit. If that's butch then sign me up. I'd rather be that then sniveling on the floor. Besides Michelle Rodriguez is way way too HOT to be butch.

speaking of Rain....

who did you prefer between Rain and Jill Valentine?

my pick is JILL. now SHE was "the bad ass" , she was also feminine, sexy, and she was fluent in her moves. she didnt get turned into a walking snack bar for the zombies, and she didnt die either (thank heaven).

none of the women in these movies really was cowardly or sniveled ....except maybe for the little girl in the 2nd one (whom the "red queen" was patterned after)...but then again she seemed more "detatched than fearfull...being that her father was at the helm of the T Virus project and she herself was infected.

The 2nd room did leave open the possibility of a third sequel....

Well... I used 'butch' to imply that she was much more masculine... than, say, Alice or Jill.

You're right, I'd rather have her been that way than running to the men for help, lol. I've just noticed its in her tendency to play tom-boyish characters. Take S.W.A.T. for example. the characters were pretty similar.

WEll, my fave of them all is Alice, lol, but between the two supporting actresses, I think I liked Jill Valentine better, for all the reasons Farrah stated above. [I can't ALWAYS sound like a parrot.]

I guess I will be the first to say that I didnot like the actress who played Jill. I thought she was a little too fake. I would have preferred Rain sorry.

I loved Alice, so I guess we are in agreement there, and I loved Mike Epps as the comic relief! Overall, Im glad hollywood didnt drop the ball.

As far as zombie movies go, Im waiting for Land of the Dead and Dawn of the Dead 2 this year!

I loved Jill and Alice but I don't see them as more feminine other then the fact that they were barely wearing any clothing. As hot as their clothes were they looked more like they were at a fashion show then hunting zombies. Even Alice's faux military wear looked more like something on a catwalk.

Rain and Sanchez did have some very similar characteristics but I just think that's because Michelle Rodriguez chooses strong women, strong in both mind and body. Plus, Rain didn't really have much of a personality other then ass kicking bitch. It wasn't that prevalent to the story for her to. She was more of a stock character then anything. She was there to advance the movie.

Was Mike Epps the black guy w/ custom guns??? Heehee, I loved when he was like "please, my shit is custom" Oh, he was sooo funny through out that entire movie. I loved him.

Dawn of the Dead 2????? How can they have DotD 2? It already has a sequel, Day of the Dead and when Land of the Dead comes out (CANNOT WAIT) then Day of the Dead will have a sequel.
