Any Lost fans here? The premiere this week was awesome! The show has got to have some of the best writing on TV. So come forth ye Lost fans, and we shall haveth a discussion!

Big Lost fan, i missed the new episode :( gonna catch it on ABC.com probably. ABC advertise when you're going to change a shows airing time damnit

This week's episode was one of the best of the series! :heee:

I'm not gonna spoil anything, but let's just say that one of the main characters proves just how much of a bad ass they can be. :demon:

the only time i sort of watched the show with regularity was when Michelle Rodriguez was on the cast. But her character was killed off and I havent really paid attention since.

I always wonder if they will run out of ideas for the show...after all, arent they going to eventually have to be "FOUND"? or is this show a dramatic, high action version of Gilligan's Island? :p

Essentially, the show has become much more than it once was. It used to be a "Lord of the Flies"-ish drama, but now it's become a hodge podge of uniqueness with all kinds of elements mixed into the plot for good measure.

As for ideas, the show was plotted to only last five seasons. Whether the producers will stick to that initial pledge remains to be seen. However, they do have some great comic book writers on their creative team, like Brian K. Vaughn and Jeph Loeb.

I actually met the woman who plays Claire on the show when I was still living in Hawaii. This was before Lost was a big hit. She mentioned that she was working on a TV show, and I was like, "Well, that's nice." Little did I know that she would be one of the main characters on the show that gives me a reason to watch ABC. In hindsight, I wish I had gotten her autograph then, so I wouldn't have to stand in long ass lines at SDCC.

so theoretically, the show could be ending next year?

and you're right, it DEFINATELY had a "lord of the flies"-esque feel to it in the beginning. thats the perfect comparison.

It has really broadened over its overall run, but I can't say that there are any characters that I can really "get into".

I like the way that fantasy elements (such as "monsters" on the island) are brought into play. at some points it kind of reminds me of survival horror games.

I believe when they realized they were starting too many weird storylines and tripping over them they decided to stick to the five year plan. BTW just finished the episode from last week and I'm starting to wonder who this guy is and how he "owns" the Island.

well, as it so happens, last year the producers FINALLY got ABC bigwigs to agree to an END DATE for the series, which was crucial for them to be able to write towards any kind of resolution. Before, they were trying to dole it out because the network wanted to milk it for all it was worth and THATS why it got bogged down for a bit. But now that they have decided on how many episodes are left to film, the writers can start revealing things as they had originally planned and can follow a sort of timeline. This eliminates those problematic and boring filler episodes meant to stretch things out. The show was originally intended to run for five seasons but ABC agreed to SIX total seasons and the remaining two seasons are to have 16 episodes each. We were supposed to get 16 THIS season as well but the writers strike really threw a wrench into plans. But the GOOD news is they DO have a plan, they DO know where they're going and now they can DELIVER as they had orignally intended... which is why THIS season has been so particularly stellar.
