<< Hecate released her grip on Delilah as Bishop seemed to be on the verge of a stroke.>>
<< Smirking, she speaks to Delilah.>>
Try not to feel bad if he dies from the shock of realizing he's an eternal failure, dear.
<< Bishop falls to his knees and utters the name: Enkil>>
<< Delilah turns to Hecate, clearly confused and at a loss, her eyes pleading for an answer of some kind. Nicolas was the first to respond, prooving he wasnt just a pretty face and Harbinger reminded him that he associated with and kept company with more than a few individuals considered by the general populace to be myths.>>
Ah Nicolas, you should know better or are you forgetting your own unfortunate parentage, not to mention Isis, who is seen today as Dominique Deveraux.
<< looking back at Delilah.>>
Yes, my child, Bishop is a curse on your existence, quite literally. So perhaps now you can REALLY cut yourself some slack?
<<As Alison comes and guides Delilah away from Hecate and Bishop back over to the Six>>
I WON'T do anything about it, Harbinger. Not unless DELILAH asks me. If she DOES, I'll GLADLY set her free from this curse and free her from having her fate bound to Bishop's....BUT even with that in mind...it wont change something ELSE that has occurred between them in THIS lifetime.
<<Hecate moves to stand between him and the others, standing over him now with her hands on her hips.>>
It's rather fitting...that it began in an age when LITERACY was just becoming apparent to mortals. The Akkadian Empire, it existed during the time of Mesopotamia...and I believe their patron goddess was Ishtar. Her cult was very devoted but rather savage....much like most of the mortals of that time.
<< she looks back at the others.>>
Whatever gods/goddesses they had beside Ishtar...they pre-date The Olympians and myself.
<< taking a moment to admire her own flawless manicured nails, she speaks with a haughty tone.>>
It's just as well. I dont know how they tolerated the grunting and primitive expressions of that age and I doubt Ishtar would have found much of a reception among the more refined and stylish dieties such as myself and athena. I much prefer the classical age and beyond, don't you?
Oh well nevermind...I know Delilah is confused.
<< gesturing, Hecate manifests a shimmering scrying pool with images of the places and people she speaks of.>>
SO what I've discovered about you..and him is that Delilah is actually the reincarnation of Divya, a servant in the king's palace.
Bishop is the reincarnation of Kunar, a soldier in the palace guard.
And of course, like any other story of doom- they are in love
But the high priest Enkil has set his sights on Divya. She rejects him for Kunar, and the two .... <<sigh>>
<< Hecate mockingly titls her head and forms a "bridge" with her hands, laying her head on the them like a girl would her pillow and makes a fake sigh, batting her eye lashes. the images continue to play out on the scrying pool.>> run away together before she can be forced to marry Enkil.
They are caught and sentenced to death by the king, but
Enkil - feeling betrayed by Divya -
also puts a curse on them:
<< and as Hecate continues, Enkil can be seen and HEARD igniting the curse for the first time. His voice is also heard as Hecate says the same thing.
Enkil said:
they will be reborn throughout the centuries, always to find each other, but always to betray and murder one another.
A rather emotional and vengeful person...hmmm not unlike ME actually when Persephone and Hades ruined my life.
<< thinking for a moment just how true it was...and remembering what hades and persephone had done...she scoffs as she tosses some of her blonde hair back and snaps her finger, causing the scrying pool to shimmer out of view.>>
I suspect he either tapped into the mystical energy as much as any well learned [for that time period] practicioner could...or saught the help of one of his age's dieties...either way, the curse he placed upon them was indeed powerfull and precise and has followed you Delilah, and you Bishop for millennia. Playing itself out in your lives ...however you appeared in any given time.
<< looking at Delilah.>>
So you see, my child...the reason why no one...not even Ororo could help you understand that you did nothing wrong is because you simply couldnt help yourself. you were pre-destined.
<< and turning to look back down at Bishop.>>
And you. Well I guess you DID have a moment in time where you were actually a decent human being. how fitting it was in an age when literacy was still in its infancy.
Still, that changes nothing about where you are today.
<< Bishop attempts to get up and fixes his mouth to respond to her in a turse town. She waves her hand at him in a gesture and commands>>
SILENCE!
<< Bishop is frozen in mid movement. locked in temporal stasis.>>
<< she turns back to Delilah and walks up to her.>>
And if I were you...I'd hold myself in readiness, because the choices you made during this recent caper have set something in motion that will change your life FOREVER. I've seen some of the lives you two have lead in other times and how they came to an end...always tragic. Its too bad that Delilah had to bear the burden for something that wasnt her fault NOW she is CARRYING ANOTHER burden that will become clearly known in a very short period of time.
<< she looked at Delilah with a glint of sympathy in her eye. Hecate was saying something. It was something that must not have happened between them in any past lifetimes. There was a new development here.>>
Delilah, you are carrying this man's seed in you. You are pregnant with his child.
Now...I HAVE the power to set you free of this curse, to liberate you at long last from suffering your fate being bound to HIS.
BUT
<< she says holding up her hand before Delilah could begin to speak.>>
There will be a cost.
I will be breaking an AGES old curse with my power. The consequence will be that emerging soul of the life forming inside you will be extinguished and dispersed as well.
<< Hecate didnt hold anything back. She gave Delilah and her team the blunt truth.>>
