Foxfire or Firebird?

...Nicolas, what's on your mind?

<< She knew that one of those absent in particular was part of what was troubling him right now...>>

He sighed heavily as the elation of the night washed away. He weighed whether to tell her all about Blaze...but he held off. He simply believed that Cam and he could handle it and she always had so much on her plate as it is. He decided to give her a small nugget on it though.

Blaze is out of sorts as you can imagine. In her own time she was very close to your alternate, but now I suspect that she is concerned that your overtures are out of guilt over Foxfire rather than for their own sake for her alone. Just an FYI there...but that is not why I asked you out here.

Nicolas looked out over the water and then back. His face was set and actually rather serene.

I think I can reach Morgan through the Astral Plane. Once in Limbo I can track her and reach her pretty easily in theory since we have shared minds.

Nicolas could see the concern on her face. Everyone knew the dangers of Limbo. Besides, wouldn't Morgan return when she was ready?

Nicolas shook his head and placed his hand on Karen's face.

I did not tell you in order to have you try to stop me. I told you so SOMEONE would know. Morgan NEEDS to know that someone here wants her back. Limbo is so comfortable for her, it would be easy for her to stay unless there was a REASON to return. I will let her know just how much is here for her and if I miss the mark, I pity the demon that attempts to keep me from her.

I will enjoy dinner and a small respite...and then I will make a visit to Limbo.

<< Karen's calm face melted into a look of shame. She looked down, letting her hair flow in front of her face for a moment as she swallowed hard and then brushed her hair back behind her ear.>>

<< Nicolas couldn't know how RIGHT he was...or maybe he DID know. Maybe he had somehow sensed it from Blaze...or maybe she TOLD him before. Either way, Karen was not going to let this pass without responding.>>

Nicolas...

<< Karen quickly spoke before he continued.>>

I'm afraid you...and Blaze ARE correct to a large degree.

<< the look on her face said it all>>

Nicolas...you'll never know the pain, the HUMILIATION I felt as a wife...a WOMAN...to know that Christopher had cheated on me...FREQUENTLY and from one of his affairs, a CHILD came....BLAZE.

I KNEW about her...even before Morgan finally met her during her time on Valiant. I COULD have told Morgan about Blaze sooner...I COULD have...but I didn't.

<< she said with shame, but no hesitation. NICOLAS was the FIRST person she revealed THIS to>>

And when Blaze seemingly perished in Valiant's battle against Black...I was HEART BROKEN...not only for my daughter, who'd lost her sister as fast as she found her...but for MY OWN choices in the matter.

Even when Blaze returned...I was not terribly kind to her. I always held against her...the fact that CHRISTOPHER was her father.

Oh Nicolas....I was just DREADFULL to her.

<< Karen shakes her head as she feels disgust at herself, remembering all of it>>

When Firebird came to us...I saw in her, a chance to MAKE UP for what i'd done to or NOT DONE for the original Blaze.

I suppose that was irrational of me...but I just couldn't help myself. I was so grief stricken and GUILT ridden over Blaze's loss!

Firebird was so kind to me...so HELPFUL to me during the Barbas caper! I leaned on her more than I EVER did the original Blaze.

She's given me more than I deserve, I think.

& yes...i AM worried about her right now. i KNOW she's taking Morgan's "loss" hard...I'm not terribly happy about it myself...but it's something more for Blaze. I can see it in her eyes...I can....I can almost FEEL it from her, like she's unconsciously projecting it.

I want to be there for her...the way i SHOULD have been for Foxfire.

When I learned that her reality's version of me had ADOPTED her...it made me feel even WORSE.

I was not a good person...or mother figure to Foxfire. I have the chance to be that way with Firebird. She's Morgan's sister...no matter WHERE she came from. She's been kind and true to me, Morgan and this team. I want to help her however I can. I want her to know she's not alone...

<< looking at Nicolas directly in the eyes>>

And no..I'm NOT doing this JUST because of guilt over Foxfire and my mistreatment of her. Not anymore! I care for Blaze Victory!

Nicolas, you CAN'T! Not even other magick users such as myself or Alison can access Limbo...not the RIGHT WAY (meaning reaching the right occurrence of Limbo where MORGAN is).

<< Karen looked at Nicolas in disbelief. He was actually going to TRY to get to Limbo under his own power and THEN, assuming he reached the right OCCURRENCE of Limbo, reach the SUMMIT? without any help? without ORORO to guide him? >>

Nicolas, there's a REASON my daughter retreated to Limbo. And a REASON why she hasn't come back yet.

<< Karen stopped for a moment...the topic of Blaze....and then what Nicolas just said, the words playback in her mind>>

Nicolas said:

<< something told her that it was MORE than just HIM missing Morgan. He loved Morgan certainly and he would no doubt risk traveling across ALL of Limbo to get to her, but...>>

....There's more to what and WHY you're willing to do this, isn't there Nicolas?

<< Blaze...>>

<< Karen looked at Nicolas. He was a grown man, but she still had maternal instincts toward him. she COULD stop him...scramble his powers if she was just determined to prevent him from risking his life this way...but something told her that this was MORE than just move motivated by his own emotional need for Morgan. Blaze factored into this and the way Nicolas and Cameron had been acting toward Blaze lately lead her to suspect they were trying their best to help her deal with something THEY were intimately aware of but that she had not been told about.>>

<< While she was the "den mother" of all of them, she also knew that as a team, they would be best served to solve their problems amongst themselves whenever possible. she COULD insert herself, demand answers and get involved...but she TRUSTED Nicolas and Cameron's motives and that they would do whatever they could to help Blaze and when Blaze was ready for Karen's help, she'd be there without hesitation>>

Don't worry...you don't have to say anything more...for now. I know there's more going on here. But I trust you...and Cameron for that matter. he's been so wonderful and instrumental to DELILAH lately and Blaze has clearly become quite comfortable with both of you lately. It's better than any helping hand she immediately needs come from her teammates first and foremost and if you think reaching out to Morgan right now is appropriate, I won't try to stop you.

<< as she nods, they make their way back to the mansion>>

But BE CAREFUL, Nicolas. Despite your motivations, there is NO guarantee that you will even arrive at the precise point/time in Limbo that you need....and if something DOES happen...

<< Hence why Nicolas told her what he was going to do...>>

We'll find you. No matter what it takes.

Karen opened up to him about Blaze, the former one. About her pain of betrayal and how that landed on Morgan's sister. The decisions she made and the regrets that came with them. The guilt and shame and seeing Red as a second chance.

He understood. Children often were symbols. He himself was one of Set and his destruction and his mother's death. He silently wished that she would have had a chance to finish coming full circle with Foxfire. But he was happy to hear her rededicate herself to the current Blaze, not knowing that she was likely the 'true' one for this timeline.

He finally exhaled. She understood. And he was apparently not completely crazy. Otherwise she would have faced him off, even scrambled his powers for a short time. But he believed that his plan was sound and he felt a responsibility to Blaze AND Morgan to try. He had an ace up his sleeve he thought and he was honestly itching for a fight should one present itself.

He kissed Karen on the forehead and tickled her side playfully as he re-entered with the sorceress, his good cheer having never left as far as anyone else knew. He knew now what to do. About everything. And so he returned to the party, ready to eat, drink and make merry. He leaned in one last time to his adoptive mother.

Thanks Ma. I will leave you a sign when it happens.

How else will I know what to do to hold their attention afterward? I looked at you because you because you have a dark, mysterious allure about yourself. But the allure is blocked by how ALOOF you portray yourself to be. You're supposed to be apart of this team and yet, you act like you're in a prison yard half the time. What's up with that?"

:: Cass chuckled a bit at the prison yard comment and then stopped when she realized it was sort of true. ::

“To be honest, that is true.”

:: She laughed nervously. ::

“In prison, it’s every man for himself. You can’t trust anybody there. I guess I feel the same way here.”

:: She fished the alcohol soaked apple slice out of the glass and popped it into her mouth, chewing as she pondered her next words. ::

“The issues I mentioned? They have a lot to do with trust.”

:: She took a deep breath and exhaled. She wasn’t going to get into her tragic love story now. Not yet, anyway. ::

“There was someone in my life that I had loved deeply and trusted with my entire life…”

Well, with a few things kept hidden of course…

“And they took advantage of me. They had been deceiving me and using me all throughout our relationship. THAT was the catalyst for my distrust. You can count on no one.”

But if I think she was on to something right, I WILL back her up. Earlier today, somebody else on this team short changed me just for being Morg's sister. It sucked & I didn't appreciate it, but it showed me just how narrow minded some people around here are. I hope that's not the kind of person you are."

:: Cass raised her martini glass that the bartender replenished. She knew that the other person Blaze was talking about was Delilah. ::

“Cheers to that. I don’t begrudge you for being her sister. Honest. It just seemed harder when she was around. For me, anyway. Like if I even deigned to speak with you, I thought she’d fly into a rage about how this stupid, stupid succubus even thought she could become friends and FAMILY with the rest of the team.”

:: Her tone carried some hurt at the end. It really DID hurt. All she ever wanted was to be accepted and welcomed and it really WAS hard to do when the leader of the group hated your guts or whatever it was that Morgan felt towards her. ::

“She definitely made it hard for me."

:: She sighed and took a sip. ::

*quietly*: “I’m sorry. You must miss her a lot. I know what that’s like, missing a sibling.”

I miss Jacek all the time…

:: A change of subject… ::

"I think you have something unique to offer the Six."

:: Cass rolled her eyes. ::

“Yeah, like the team’s punching bag…”

:: She was only half-kidding. Sometimes it really did feel as if she was only there to constantly amuse the rest of the team. She was waiting for a reason to stay while also willing to accept a reasonable excuse to leave. She sighed again. ::

And so

<< Dinner was served - Exquisite food and drink, freshly prepared & a spread with something for every individual taste present. Good food, conversation and general enjoyment for all.>>

<< Eventually, dinner was finished and then came the time for dancing. This time, everyone, including Blaze, Cass and even Alison could be seen on the dance floor. the live band and specially flown in DJ provided a wonderful mix of music for dancing.>>

<< At one point, Karen, along with Sharon, another accomplished dancer even before her time as the Silver Swan, leads the group present in several line dances/hustles to several songs across musical genres. Karen prooves just how fluent she is with dancing across musical genres, much to the surprise and delight of everyone present. It was a way to get EVERYONE involved and to have fun. >>

<< the "throw down" part of the dance party climaxes with the obligatory "soul train line dance" where each person gets to dance/strut their stuff down the center. Everyone rises to the challenge & fun of that moment. Karen, Sharon, Michael, Alycia, Ava, Cameron and Nicolas all proove that dancing can be art in his/her own unique way. Blaze seems more "herself" during this time, as she LOVES dancing; Alison reminds them all that she can cut a rug when she wants; & even Cass shows that she's no amature when it comes to dancing or keeping up with pros like Karen and Sharon in the hustles they lead the group in. >>

<< After the "throw down" session of dancing, came the "cool down", with some smooth, jazzy, classic and sexy tunes for slower, couples dancing. Michael and Karen, of course, are crowd pleasers with their dancing, Sharon, Blaze, Alycia, Ava, Alison and Cass all of their turns with Michael, Nicolas and Cameron.>>

<< More time passes and as everyone has thoroughly enjoyed themselves dancing and working off the calories from their wonderful meal. Now comes the final, most surprising part of the evening's festivities, quietly arranged by Cameron, with only Sharon being privvy to this part- KARAOKE.>>

<< Yes, this time honored tradition of hamming it up and even making a spectacle of oneself comes to the Six this evening, but being that this IS the THE SIX, it isn't just your average, ordinary karaoke event. The music is backed by the live band AND the DJ & his state of the sound machine. There is a LARGE video screen that has lowered behind the "stage" area, to provide background and ambiance and the hard-light technology of the mansion is being used to provide scenes, settings, holograms and even props. There's even costume changes available for those who will be performning.>>

<< It's a fun, (if not a bit over-the-top) way for the Six to end a beautiful, evening.>>

<< as the staff work quickly and the great room shifts/prepares for the final act of the evening, each member of the six present has a chance to select the song they will perform. Also, per Cameron's design, each member had to draw a number to see who would go first. Much to ALISON'S dismay, SHE drew the first number.>>

<< The holo-GLAM field will instantly transform the person who steps into it into the ideal look/image they desire for their performance. And as Alison steps into the energy field, her form is enveloped by the electric blue light as she is transformed/made over and the announcer sets up her performance. For some, the song selection doesnt come as a surprise at all.>>

Bitch!

I'll get you for this, Cameron King...

:: Alison "said" to her brother coldly as she was urged by cheers and claps to step into the holo-GLAM field and transform for her performance::

:: the electric blue field enveloped her whole form and there was a rush of light and energy as the announce cued up her song of choice. She emerged from the field onto the stage, now wearing a studded feminine cut leather biker jacket, a corsett, a black skirt, fishnet stockings and high heels. her make up and accessories were dark and glamorous, rounding off her look. She also had a guitar in hand...::

::Alison scowls for a moment as she stands before the group::

....oh well....what the hell

:: The song begins and Alison loosens up, looking upon the group with a smirk as she begins to perform BITCH. The stage and video screen shift and provide suitable imagery to match Alison and as she swells into the refrain after the first verse, she SLAMS the guitar down on the ground, destroying it before strutting her stuff, having a cathartic moment as she sings/screams the first words of the refrain...::

I'M A BITCH....

:: it's not just fun or play for her, it's GOOD for her right now! as she climaxes in the song, solid light hologram dancers, all looking uniquely styled, rush out onto the stage to dance around and behind Alison as she dances with wild abandon after finishing the last "BITCH" refrain!::

:: As her song ends, she impulsively takes a bow to the group, who were clapping and cheering for her, before quickly exiting the stage::

Satisfied!?

:: She "says" to Cameron, trying to pretend that she didn't just have FUN on that stage::

Ladies and gentlemen, ALISON MARBLE! There's one "BITCH" you don't want to mess with. What!? She said it, not me! Next up, MICHAEL ARMSTRONG!

Great food, great company. Then great fun.

Doc pulled out the Hustle, the new Slide dances, and even some Chicago stepping afterwards when the lights dimmed and the songs slowed a bit. And then he got a turn with all of the ladies, enjoying their company and their own unique dance styles. It was fun and sensual and he was very much looking forward to a late night. Especially after the next stunt he planned to pull as he watched Alison SHAKE HER ASS on a song that was amazing and seemed to be made just for her.

Mike catcalled and wolf whistled, determined to make her as uncomfortable as he could along with the other guys. Shit, how many times did you get to safely sexually harass an omega level sorceress in the presence of your omega level sorceress companion? Carpe Diem was now officially the order of the day as the announcer called his name.

Ladies and gentlemen, ALISON MARBLE! There's one "BITCH" you don't want to mess with. What!? She said it, not me! Next up, MICHAEL ARMSTRONG!

He looked at Nicolas, shooting him a thought as he stood up, walking slowly into the holo-area. The scene morphs into an orchestra behind him, all dressed in tuxedos and cocktail dresses. His own clothing changed to match as the orchestra started to play.

And then something amazing happened. Michael Armstrong could actually sing reasonably well! There would be no world tour, but considering the material he did quite well as he sang a smooth version of Marvin Gaye's 'Let's Get It On' while staring a smoldering hole through Karen Victoria. He moved with smooth choreography, pointing and winking at Karen and then blowing kisses to the other ladies as he moved. But this was clearly Karen's moment and as he reached the climax of the song, he looked at Nicolas who snapped his fingers...

...teleporting Karen AND her chair in front of Mike as he tore open his jacket and shirt, buttons flying everywhere as he revealed his bare chest and straddled Karen's lap, still singing,

Oh, gonna get it on!!!!
lovin' you, baby
I wanna get it on
You don't have to worry that it's wrong
If the spirit moves you
Let me groove you...good
Let your come down!!!OH!! Get it on!!

The last minute of the song consisted of Mike going nuts, singing and dancing in a mortified and screaming Karen's lap as the crowd went wild!!

As the music finally faded, Mike pulled Karen out of the chair and into a hug, laughing as the announcer spoke.

Ladies and Gentlemen!! Mike Armstrong and his SPECIAL GUEST...Karen Victoria!! Sounds like the evening's revelry will be rather long doesn't it? And NOW....up next...

Cameron's Refrain

The dinner and the conversation had been lovely. Despite what he had learned previously about Blaze earlier in the evening, he was able to push that aside and take some time to truly enjoy himself, as he had been doing all day. After dinner, the group returned to the dance floor and engaged in one hell of a show as bodies thrusted and jived all around, proving that this group of people were not only powerful and successful creatures but were well versed in the way of song and dance, their physically perfect bodies working together to create quite a hot scene for those who might look on the outside.

As the dancing died down, Cameron revealed that tonight's party would end in a very special Karaoke session. Cameron was by no mean's a professional singer, but he could more than carry a tune and karaoke was something he had always enjoyed...and he had to admit, he couldn't wait to see some of the people less comfortable with public displays of foolishness perform for the evening.

First up was his very own sister, who he had to admit did a very rocking versioan of BITCH by Meredith Brooks. He had to say the song fit her perfectly and she definitely reminded him very much of an early Joan Jett. She smashed the guitar and took her seat as Michael took the stage next, performing "Let's Get it On" to a very embarrassed yet titilated Karen Victoria. The performance was sweet and very "Mike"...

And then...

Announcer said:
"Ladies and Gentlemen!! Mike Armstrong an his SPECIAL GUEST...Karen Victoria!! Sounds like the evening's revelry will be rather long doesn't it? And NOW...up next...the man behind tonight's festivities...Put your hands together and get your dollar bills ready for MISTER....CAMERON KING

Cameron laughed as he walked up to the stage as the lights and holograms swirled around him, and then he used his own abilities to FURTHER augment the karaoke as The Great Room dissappeared around them and they were taken to a bohemian early 90's New York Loft as George Michael's Freedom began to play.

I won't let you down, I will not give you up...Gotta have some faith in the sound. It's the one good that I've got. I won't let you down, so please don't give me up, cause I would really, really love...to stick around..Oh YEAH!"

Cameron's outfit was transformed from his party attire to a vintage leather jacket and TIGHT form fitting jeans with rips in the knees and black leather combat boots as he walked to the end of the stage and sat down for a second.

"Heaven knows I was just a young boy...didn't know what I wanted to be..."

All of a sudden from the back corner of the stage, a holographic Sharon Kelly appeared dressed completely like Linda Evangelista appeared and sat down, complete with her signature hair style as she echoed Cameron's words, lip syncing along with him.

"I was every little hungry school girl's pride and joy...and I guess that was enough for me...."

As Cameron continued to sing, the group would notice other Holograms appeared around them, joining him in the song..with Blaze Victory playing the iconic Cindy Crawford in the bathtub...Alycia Barnett wrapped in headphones, dancing around much like Naomi Campbell in the video, and culminating in Cameron standing up as a holographic version of Ava dressed in only a white sheet as she walked up the runway behind him.

"I just hope you understand...sometime's the clothes do NOT make the man..."

And with THAT, Cameron took off his leather jacket and threw it into the audience, leaving him shirtless in a pair of very tight and sexy jeans. He ushered everybody to their feet for the chorus.

All We Have to Do Now,
Is Take These Lies, And Make Them True, Somehow.
All We Have To See, Is That I Don't Belong To You.
And You Don't Belong To Me! FREEDOM!

The entire group was on their feet and dancing along to the infectious rhythm of the music as pyrotechnics blared and images of the Six in some of their sexiest poses began to be displayed on the media screen behind them. It was 90's Supermodel Glamour at it's finest, and if the group listened to the words, they would realize how FITTING it was for Cameron to sing this song. From his personal journey of where he was to where he is now, the song held great meaning to him.

Cameron moved to the center of the stage as his holographic Supermodels from The Six followed him, dancing in their signature ways as they had on the dancefloor earlier.

Well it looks like the road to heaven
But it feels like the road to hell
When I knew which side my bread was buttered
I took the knife as well
Posing for another picture
Everybody's got to sell
But when you shake your ass
They notice fast
And some mistakes were build to last

That's what you get
I say that's what you get
That's what you get for changing your mind
And after all this time
I just hope you understand
Sometimes the clothes do not make the man!!!!

The music reached it's TOTAL apex as the chorus blasted through the Great Room as a Gospel Choir Hologram appeared on all sides of the Six, gesturing them to get up DANCE and SING the song along with him, as Cameron himself bumped up and down with the microphone in his hand.

"I've got to live..."

And with that, the music faded and everything was returned to normal as a now sweaty and fully energized Cameron King was standing there in his final pose of the song. He took a moment to bow and laugh as he hopped off...

"Alright Announcer! PLEASE tell us who has to follow THAT!"

A Mistake

It was easy to lose herself on the dance floor. To let the fun, the glamor and the mood distract her as she danced, shimmied and whipped her auburn hair back and forth.

She kept up with the others easily and wove her way through the group, dancing with anyone, male or female, as she pleased. She saved a slow dance for Michael, Nicolas and Cameron, but during this time, it was a little harder for her to mask her emotion. Still she kept it tight.

Then came karaoke! Blaze couldnt help but smirk and giggle at this whole set up, but her apple green eyes sparkled with excitement at the opportunity to show off...and make a statement in her own way.

Alison was first and "BITCH" certain suited the resentful precog at this time. Michael poured on the charm and sex appeal with "Let's get it on"...pulling Karen into his act. Blaze WHISTLED with encouragement even as Karen looked all at once appalled and titillated at the same time. Blaze laughed as the announcer wrapped up each of their performances.

"Ohh Michael...you're either gonna 'GET IT' or get totally GROUNDED tonight, that's fer sure! "

Then came Cameron. They might have thought SHE was a ham, but for Cameron, it came as easily as BREATHING!

Blaze nodded and bobbed her head in time with the song, thinking of Morgan in her early days with Illustra and all the glamor that surrounded her during that time. This song was great for Cameron and the holographic models of Sharon and others from the Six were a NICE touch. Blaze couldnt help but eye "HERSELF" in full Cindy Crawford form

Cameron was definitely the heart of the team and it showed here as he pulled everyone into the act in a way. Blaze couldnt help but smile and clap with approval as he finished.

"Way to go, Cameron! "

Now it was her turn. Certain members of the team seemed to cheer extra hard as they clapped and urged her to step through the holo-glam energy field. She stands up, slowly inhaling then exhaling and walking toward the field, not looking back. Stepping through...her form is lost in the electric blue field...

"I wonder if it'll be this easy when i..."

No time to think. the announcer was already calling her up.

The ever curious and unpredecitable Blaze Fiel....

Much to the brief HORROR of everyone present, especially Nicolas, Karen, Alison and CAMERON, who had specified that Blaze's surname was was VICTORY, NOT FIELDING, Blaze herself WINCED behind the energy field as the announcer almost said that name...

Announcer said:
....Blaze VICTORY, singing ...."MY FAVORITE MISTAKE"

The stage goes completely black as the structure shifts to form a catwalk leading out into the audience. The sound of wind, rolling thunder and rain can be heard as the video screen and lighting of the stage displays the sights and sounds of a soft, summer night's storm.

Soon, the strumming of a guitar can be heard as Sheryl Crow's My Favorite Mistake begins to play in full clarity and Blaze steps into view. Wearing a LOW CUT, sheer peasant blouse with a golden chandelier necklace adordning her slender neck and highlighting her ample cleavage; figure flattering black leather pants and high heels. Her aurburn hair is parted down the middle, styled in glossy ringlet curls and blowing slightly in the wind, her make up is smokey, sultry, giving her a darker look.

She slowly sways side to side to the metronome 4/4 time beat of the song's opening and audibly sighs as the song begins. Her sigh seems to accent the wind perfectly. Soon she begins to sing. Her earnest tone makes it sound as though she's singing from deep experience...and for Nicolas and Cameron, they know this to be TRUE.

She holds on to the mic tightly as she begins the first verse. But as she reaches the refrain, she begins to walk, in step to the song's beat, out on to the catwalk among the audience...

"Did you know when you go
its the perfect ending, To
The bad day I gotten used
To spending, When you go
All I know is your
My favorite mistake."

She reaches out to Karen as a BRIEF image of MORGAN flashes on the view screen in between the strobes of lightning.

She looks upon Nicolas, Cameron, Ava, Alycia, Michael, Cass...singing with genuine conviction. She may not be a grammy winner, but she wont be accused of being tone deaf either.

:: She works through the song, turns her back and walks/steps back up the catwalk...::

"this place...morgan, delilah, alison...all of it!"

"You're my favorite mistake.....You're my favorite...MISTAKE...???"

The song ends, Blaze turns and smiles as everyone claps for her and she takes her bow before quietly exiting the stage.

"Thank you."

Burning RED

:: Cass was having fun. She LOVED dancing and it really showed. Of course, being manager of After-Dark had prepared her to entertain on a moment’s notice. But then came the slow songs and as much as she wanted to sit them out, Sharon kept PUSHING her at her male teammates and so she had no choice BUT to dance with them. And so she did. She pasted a faux smile on her face all throughout until she could sit back down for the next part of the evening, which was…karaoke. Though Cass wasn’t a professional by any means, although she had had a few offers, she had a GREAT voice. She regularly sang at After-Dark along with the songs the DJs played or with the band, if a band happened to be playing. She mainly did it if she felt the atmosphere was getting low on hype and wanted to ramp it up again. It always, ALWAYS, worked. Still, she felt nervous about her turn. Though she had opened up a bit to Blaze, as well as her close friendships with Sharon and Karen, she felt wary and on edge about singing in front of the team. She clapped as Alison, Mike, Cameron, and Blaze all took their turns. She couldn’t wait to see who was next. ::

Ladies and Gentlemen! Blaze VICTORY has told me the next performer is none other than Miss Cassandra Johnson, also known as RUBY!

Wait. WHAT?!

:: Cass started shaking her head as Blaze grabbed her by the arms and pushed her towards the stage laughing the entire time. ::

No, no, no! This can’t be happening!

“Um…”

As soon as she stepped on stage, it changed to a sandy beach, a light breeze blowing across the water. Cass looked down and saw that she was now wearing a simple, yet pretty, RED dress, accentuated by her RUBY pendant. She looked to her right and spotted a rock just big enough for her to sit on. She sat down, burying her bare feet in the sand. ::

“We’ve all had broken hearts in our past, right? Well, here’s mine.”

:: Soon, the opening for Taylor Swift’s “Red” could be heard. ::

:: This particular song so reminded her of her ex. Tried as she might, she could NOT let him go. Never, ever. She picked up the microphone and started to sing. ::

Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead-end street
Faster than the wind, passionate as sin ending so suddenly
Loving him is like trying to change your mind once you're already flying through the free fall
Like the colors in autumn, so bright just before they lose it all

Losing him was blue like I'd never known
Missing him was dark grey all along
Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met
But loving him was red
Loving him was red

:: Her voice rose and fell in all the right places. She even allowed some of her emotion to seep through her singing. Soon she forgot all about the rest of the people and just sang her heart out. ::

Remembering him comes in flashbacks and echoes
Tell myself it's time now, gotta let go
But moving on from him is impossible
When I still see it all in my head
Burning red
Loving him was RED

:: On and on, the song went, Cass using her emotions to her advantage, making the audience FEEL her heartbreak as she sang. Of course, it was the atmosphere of the faux beach that helped to facilitate those emotions too. ::

:: Soon, the song came to an end. ::

His love was like driving a new Maserati down a dead-end street...

Announcer said:
Ladies and Gentlemen, let's give it up for CASSANDRA!

:: Cass was now back in the Great Hall and gave the Six a wobbly smile before leaving the stage and sitting back down at the bar. ::

"I'd like a beer please. Stella."

:: The bartender handed her the beverage and she nodded her thanks. She wasn't prepared for how emotional she felt after singing. She took a gulp and turned around to face the stage. ::

Despite deciding to "quit" drinking early on in the evening, once dinner was done and everyone was having an all out dance party, Ava was having too much fun to care whether she made a fool of herself or not. Downing a few more glasses of wine, to say she was tipsy was an understatement. Because quite frankly, had she been sober, the thought of karaoke would have made her skin crawl. And the thought of PERFORMING it would have made her probably murder someone. :D But, hell, why not right?

Alison went up and performed a rather grungy version of "Bitch", which was quite accurate considering the situation she was in. Cameron did some George Michael that made her crack up seeing all the "model" versions of them. Then Blaze went up and did a performance that probably meant more than everyone realized. She seemed sincere as she sang the words, but it made the performance that much more beautiful. Mike straight up began to strip, causing Ava to crack up, then Cass went up. She sang Taylor Swift which caused Ava to scoff a bit. But she actually had a beautiful voice. And the way she sang the song made it seem like she had went through it herself. Huh... Maybe she was more drunk than she thought, because she actually enjoyed the song.

Ladies and Gentlemen, give it up for Cassandra Johnson! Next up we have Miss Ava Cassadine!

The announcer snapped Ava out of her daze as everyone began to clap. Oh here we go. Walking up to the stage, the hologram swirled around her and the stage. The entire stage went black as [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRv4VQra2kc]Criminal[/ame] by Fiona Apple began to play. A white spotlight came on, and an old fashion metal microphone could be seen in the center of the stage. Soon, a silhouette of a woman could be seen walking up to the microphone, backlit by the blinding white light. Finally, as Ava reach the microphone, she was seen beautifully dressed in a black sequence dress and black over the elbow gloves. Her hair was parted on the side and swept over to one shoulder with 1940's inspired waves. Her eye makeup with a simple cat eye and her lips an apple red. She looked like she stepped out of the 1940's jazz era.

"I've been a bad bad girl."

Her hand cupped around the microphone as she slowly dipped her body as she sang.

"I've been careless with a delicate man."

She continued to sing, playing up the Jessica Rabbit like essence of the performance. And surprisingly, her voice was actually good. It was low and had a growl to it, very sensual and sexy.

"Don't you tell me to deny it
I've done wrong and I want to
Suffer for my sins
I've come to you 'cause I need
Guidance to be true
And I just don't know where I can begin."

And even though Ava was having fun singing and playing up the performance, the song actually meant something. The lyrics were TRUE to what she had gone through.

"What I need is a good defense
'Cause I'm feelin' like a criminal
And I need to redeemed
To the one I've sinned against
Because he's all I ever knew of love."

The instrumental ending played and the white spotlight faded to black as the music ended.

Laughing as she left the stage, the holographic images disappeared and she was back in her normal dinner attire. Sitting down, she had to admit...that was a lot of fun.

Ava, Ava, Ava.

Oozing sexuality, the goddess was only the latest in a string of well-done and creative karaoke performances. It was unsurprising that a group of exceptional people could all sing but if this saving the world shit crapped out, Nic suspected they could make a fierce large ensemble group.

As Ava left the stage giggling, Nicolas gave her a long whistle. It was deserved, and she DID just save his ass with Circe, so the goodwill was well-earned.

Ladies and Gentlemen! Lets have a round of applause for Ava Cassadine!

Next up...I have heard that there are singing genes in his family...NICOLAS KING!!!

Nicolas smiled and walked up to the stage slowly, actually deciding on the song as he got there. He disabled the tech and spoke to the band leader in a whisper. Returning to the microphone, Nicolas waited for the musical cue and then started to sing...amazingly well. Incredibly well. Apparently he did NOT miss the singing gene from his mother's side. He had been practicing...hoping that one day he would get the nerve to ask his aunt to sing with him on a stage somewhere. So he was actually ready for this. He closed his eyes and just sang, smiling the entire time.

Once he finished, he bowed to applause from his family, his team, and he went and sat down with a nod, a large smile still on his face. He felt like his mother was looking down on him. And smiling. No matter what happened in the next few days, he felt like he would make it work out somehow.

Hamming it up

:: There were many nights of celebration on Themyscira, the Amazons believed in playing as hard as they worked and the celebrations were beautiful and joyous, but there was something about "GETTING DOWN WITH FAMILY" that couldn't be replaced.::

:: These last few days on Minerva's Aerie with The Six, and this evening in particular? It confirmed to Alycia that she had indeed picked the right time to come back to them.::

:: Food, drink, dancing with a vengeance and now karaoke. If Cameron's antics from earlier in the afternoon on the island werent enough for lasting memories, tonights performances in the state of the art karaoke environment would certainly be.::

:: Alycia watched each performance with cheer and applause. Each person did a song that seemed just PERFECT for him/her and the hard light technology, the dj and the live band all did their part to make this a unique, fun experience. Alison was raw and unapologetic; Michael was grown and sexy; Blaze was plaintive and sincere...almost haunting; Cass prooved just how INTRIGUING she was with her performance; Nicolas was no longer the "messy" guy Alycia remembered from her first dealings with him, he was a fullfilled, but still NAUGHTY man and Ava? well Alycia and Ava weren't friends, but Alycia couldn't help but find Ava's performance enjoyable. Perhaps Alycia and Ava BOTH forgot...even in the midst of all the HATRED that Haleigh and Alycia shared between them, there was something beneath it all and eventually, THAT overcame the hate and they found themselves in a place of mutual respect, TRUST and even friendship. And so, Alycia's cheers and whistles for Ava were no less than they were for the others before her.::

:: Alycia herself wasn't sure just what song she'd perform...not even as her turn came closer and closer. But watching Cameron channeling George Michael, but FAR SEXIER, gave her an IDEA!::

I'VE GOT IT!

:: Her hazel eyes sparkled with wicked delight as she smiled widely to no one in particular as the song of choice occurred to her.::

Announcer said:
It's a night of memorable performances! Let's keep the momentum going! Miss Alycia Barnett?? You're UP!

:: even as the others noisily cheered, Alycia stood up and looked knowingly upon several of them before slowly turning and walking toward the holo-GLAM field::

:: She seemed to hesitate for a moment, looking rather puzzled...::

Cameron??

:: She said loud enough for him to hear her over the din of the others::

Come you come here for a moment?

:: She looked like something was troubling her and so as Cameron got up and made his way over to her, putting his hand on her arm and asking if something was wrong...::

Well no, nothing's wrong. I just need YOU for something.

:: And before Cameron could ask WHAT, Alycia SHOVES him through the energy holo-glam field and laughs loudly as she suckered him in to her scheme. She quickly walks through herself. This gets everyone's attention, for it was an unexpected development.::

:: The stage and area around it goes black once more as energy is heard. Alycia and now Cameron are "made over" and soon...::

:: the audience finds themselves looking upon the simulated scene of a dark, somewhat misty movie theatre, with a slightly confused Cameron King (suitably made over to fit the scene and Alycia's song choice) who looks out on the audience and then looks back behind him as chimes sond off and a drum beat starts::

:: Alycia can briefly be seen, striking a pose & WINKING to the audience on the large video screen, in all her 80's fashion glory- with her Madonna-esque hairstyle, makeup & jewelry and a one-shoulder top, mini skirt with a double wrap belt and high heeled boots. The large screen STROBES, briefly blinding making Cameron flinch and cover his eyes.::

:: Seconds later she bounces on to stage and begins singing "I Knew you were waiting for me". It becomes clear that she's playing Aretha Franklin's role and Cameron is meant to sing/play George Michael's role and as he catches on to what she's done and WHY...he rises to her challenge, Revel in the in the ridiculous fun of this TOTALLY 80's moment, while still being sexy!::

:: The sound of the song is pure 80's but its distinct and catchy, especially when booming over the state of the art sound system for the event this evening.::

:: Alycia may not have Aretha's vocal chops, but her own strong mezzo soprano voice, coupled with the OBVIOUS chemistry she shares with Cameron propels her into a flirty, sexy performance with her perfect playmate. As she struts along, she turns back and beckons him to follow meeting her vocals with his own.::

:: They sing and dance together in perfect time, moving around each other, hands touch bodies, bodies brush against one another as they sing and play their parts to the hilt as they convey the theme of sexy synergy.::

:: On the video screen behind them, images of famous duos from many areas including music, movies and pop culture flash across the screen. But ALSO, images of members of the six- pictures and short clips of various members paired up with one another from years past, coupled or other wise, flash across the screen::

Minerva's Mansion - Great Room

Cameron was thoroughly enjoying himself. This was definitely a rare day and night for this group of people. Normally, it was all doom and gloom, but today had been a perfect day. There had been laughter, tears and all around joy and fun. Prophet was definitely proud of himself for putting the evening together.

Each performer showed a different side to themselves that had not previously been seen and he was very intrigued by ALL of the performances. Though Blaze's performance worried him a little bit more than he had originally been, he pushed that to the side. Finally, it was Alycia's turn. THIS...he had to see.

Alycia: Cameron? Can you come here for a moment? Well no, nothing's wrong. I just need YOU for something.

Before Cameron knew what hit him, Alycia SHOVES him through the holo-glam field. Before long, the group was transformed into that of an old movie theater and Cameron was once again dressed up in his George Michael attire. Alycia and Cameron's styles matched so well it was almost like they were some kind of 80's Barbie & Ken doll. Once Cameron heard the drum beat he started laughing.

"Okay...THAT was good, Alycia..."

He crinkled his nose a minute and stuck his tongue out at her. He knew the song well and the lyrics were very indicative of what was going on between the pair. He moved in perfect time with her, matching his vocals to her, and in fact, the two display some VERY bright moments of harmony that would shock a lot of their colleagues. The moves became increasingly sexier and enchanting as before long it appeared the two were interwtined. Taking a moment during the musical break, his nose grazed her neck as he whispered softly to her.

"I gotta admit, Barnett. I like your style..."

Cameron smiled before he spun Alycia out and the two began to have a dance battle of sorts, mimicking some of the more famous moves of the 80's. They were definitely giving a crowd pleasing performance. But as soon as it started, it ended. The music stopped and Cameron and Alycia were right back on stage, desperately close to one another, having ended on almost a tango as Cameron twirled Alycia into his body. The two were breathing heavily from the dancing and sharing one of their now famous "glances" at one another. :p

The telepath winked as he looked out at his friends.

"And THAT my friends...is how it's done!"

I knew you were waiting...

:: Alycia left the stage & the view of the audience, dancing hand in hand with Cameron until they were out of site and the song finished. Even as the cheers, laughs, whistles and claps were heard out front, Cameron and Alycia had their own little "moment" once again as Cameron twirls and dips her, tantilizingly close to her face with his own::

You were such a good sport for that, Cameron...

:: Alycia quickly GRASPS Cameron, once again placing one of her hands firmly on the back of his neck, her lips touch the side of his ear as she whispers::

Perhaps you'll do an encore for me later on.

:: teasing him abit with her own body pressed up against his, she suddenly SHOVES him away, with a mischievious look in her hazel eyes::

But for now

:: Speaking in her normal tone as if nothing had happened ;) ::

Let's join the others, the announcer says Karen's up next & we don't want to miss her performance!

:: As they return to the floor of the Great Room, Alycia turns back to Cameron::

Don't keep me waiting on my encore tonight either.

:: giving him a knowing look before turning away and tossing her hair back with a soft laugh and rejoining the others at her seat waiting to see what Karen was going to do.::

Mod fun

and up next, ladies and gentlemen, the bewitching, dancing doctor, Karen Victoria!

<< Karen smirked and rolled her eyes as everyone urged her to make her way to the holo-glam field. She slowly stepped through.>>

<< claps and cheers give way to the sound Karen's voice in the now pitch black stage setting.>>

I dedicate this little performance to my precious Michael Armstrong, who this evening, has gotten rather BIG for his britches.

<< Karen appears on stage, in a black and white mod dress with matching hat and white go go boots her hair and make up round off her classic look>>

<< she begins to step and sway in time to the guitar and tambourine>>

You keep sayin, you've got somethin for me....

<< the sound of Nancy's Sinatra's These boots are made for walkin' begins to play and Karen proceeds to sing and perform with a hint of playfulness and sauciness.>>

<< She keeps her opal blue eyes fixed on Michael as she struts right over to him on the cat walk and teases him with the high hemline of her mod dress before playfully kicking at him with her high heeled boot as he tries to draw near.>>

<< waving her finger as she moves through the refrain>>

These boots are made for WALKIN, and that's just what they'll do!
One of these days these boots are gonnaaaa walk allll overrr you!

<< some holographic female dancers come bouncing out, all decked out in similar mod looks as they dance alongside and behind Karen, who moves through the rest of the song with ease>>

<< and toward the end of the song as the music seems to wind down a bit...>>

Are you ready boots?

START WALKIN!

<< and the music swells to its conclusion as Karen dances and stomp/struts back up the catwalk with her "dancers">>

<< she looks over her shoulder and winks at Michael and the others before disappearing into the darkness. Suddenly she APPEARS right next to Michael as everyone was clapping for her. Still in her costume for a few moments longer, she bends down to kiss him on the cheek before her outfit shifts back to her actual dress.>>

Well! That was quite fun after all!

<< She says in a satisfied tone as she smiles at the applause of the others.>>

And last, but certainly not least...coming to the stage, Ms. SHARON KELLY!

Dedicated to The Six

[Sharon emerges on the stage; the lighting IMMEDIATELY shifts in such a way that her feminine form is enshrouded in shadow, with only two haunting soft blue beams of light criss-crossing behind her]

Please, everyone, be up-standing.

[The members of the six quietly stand at her request. Members of staff QUICKLY remove the chairs and clear the floor once more. No one is quite certain what Sharon has planned, but they noticed she didn’t go through the holo-glam generator]

It’s been a wonderful evening and Cameron asked me to close the evening with a song. I know all of you have enjoyed the karaoke, but I want to sing to you from a personal place now and I hope you will like it.

[In MAINSTREAM time, only a select few of the Six were aware just how amazing a singer Sharon actually was- Haleigh, Nicolas and Cameron. With her sonic powers, her voice was now perfect, allowing her to sing any number of ways to please the ear, the mind and the soul. She intended to do just that. She remains quite for a moment. The live band and the dj both have parts to play in this performance and they are ready.]

[She breathes in, and begins]

There are bridges; there are rivers….that we still must cross.

[The soft live music begins Images of ALL the Six, those present and those absent (Delilah, Morgan, Haleigh) slowly flash across the screen, briefly showing them as the unique individuals they are as well as a team]

And we go…on our journey, though sometimes we might get lost.

[Images of the members of the Six from not so pleasant or uncertain times in their lives, including a visual of Sharon from the night she, as the Silver Swan, RETURNED to Arklay Mansion, standing in the forest outside the mansion’s doors]

There’s a road we have to follow. A destiny we have to meet.

[Images of ORORO flicker in between more GROUP shots of the Six that Haleigh/Liquid Crystal Images had taken from years past]

Though no one told us…just how to get there.

But we get there we’ll KNOW!

[Images of FIREBIRD when she first arrived on Aerie flash, along with other images of various members RETURNING from periods of absence]

Be-cause together we’re ta-king it…STEP BY STEP….

[ The DJ seamlessly picks up where the live band quietly fades off as the song shifts and picks up tempo and beat. The DJ brings up the perfect digital remastered music over the sound system as Sharon launches into “Step by step” ]

[ The catwalk where she stands, slowly extends out toward the group and the lighting shifts to reveal HER. Instead of changing into a fun or cute costume or look, she remains in her own stylish silver dress but she makes a solid connection with the audience with her VOICE as she captures their attention, their minds, their HEARTS with the uplifting lyrics against a catchy, up tempo beat]

[ As she begins the first verse, the lights once again shift, highlighting the SIX in the audience, all of them now back in their various looks of choice for their performances AND on the large video screen behind her, a video montage of the six edited to broadcast in time with the beat- showing each member doing what they loved/what they do best; the six as a GROUP from past gatherings, dancing together and having a good time; different members helping/encouraging one another in personal moments]

And this old road is rough and ruined . So many dangers along the way
So many burdens have/WILL fall upon US, So many troubles that we have to face!

[ She extends her hands out to the audience, gesturing for everyone to gather around her perched position and to feel the music, let her voice lead them into dance! On Themyscira, both she and Alycia saw how song, music and dancing were an essential part of celebration, encouragement and uplifting to the bodies AND spirits! It brought people together! That’s what this team needed now! To be together and REVEL in the moment!]

Oh, but we won't let our spirits fail us. Oh no, we won’t let our spirits go

Until we get to my destination
We’re gonna take it slowly cuz we’re making it OURS

[ And so, slowly but surely as she reaches the chorus and her voice soars once more, the Six let themselves follow Sharon’s direction and begin to truly enjoy the moment, dancing together, around her as she beautifully and strongly moves through the song.]

[ Reaching a certain point in the song…]

Say it, baby, don't give up!

[ the video tribute now focuses on DELILAH, Morgan and Haleigh, all of whom are absent for personal reasons. ]

You got to hold on to what you got,
Oh, baby, don't give up!

[Sharon’s voice reaches out, touches, and resonates. If only Delilah HERSELF could hear her in this moment, for Sharon is certainly singing not only to those present, but also to Delilah, Morgan, Haleigh and even BLAZE ]

You got to keep on moving on don't stop (YEAH! YEAH).
I KNOW you're HURTING…. and I know you're blue,
I know you're hurting but DON’T LET the bad things get to you!!!

[ Reaching the chorus once more, Sharon herself dances, clearly enjoying the moment as the others are. Singing like this, she could easily be seen as a vocal rival to Dominique!]

[ The lights shift and begin to HIGHLIGHT the members of the Six dancing on the floor as she sings on, urging each of them to put their BEST MOVES on display, pointing out to them]

(c'mon baby got to keep moving),
(we’re taking it step by step), bit by bit,
stone by stone (yeah, stone by stone), brick by brick

[ Images of Delilah, Morgan, Haleigh ALL at their individual best broadcast across the screen before more images of everyone as both together and apart]

c'mon baby,
step by step keep on moving, day by day (day by day-eeeee!)

[ and in the last few moments of the song’s climax, Sharon lifts her hands up, looking up above as she SOARS with the vocals, conveying the feeling of progress, FREEDOM and that nothing will stand in their way]

mile by mile by mile by MIIII-LLEEE , WE’LL GO OUR OWN WAYYYYYYY!

[ While Sharon continues to dance on the catwalk walk while the others dance on the floor below, a final, fleeting image of the six- ALL of them- standing together, cliffside looking out over the ocean of the aegean sea with a glimmer of HOPE in all of their unique, beautiful faces and eyes can be seen on the view screen and she closes with the last lyrics..]

c'mon baby got to keep moving, bit by bit (bit by bit, bit by bit)....

[Her vocals fade and she holds her hands out to the audience, speaking to them as the music winds down and fades away. She SMILES(!) with genuine appreciation as everyone, including the band and DJ clap and cheer.]

[To the Six she says]

We’ll stand and move together…and we’ll help those who don’t think they can carry on. Though some may not be here tonight, no one is left behind. That is not our way. And when anyone among us might lose his or her way...any of the rest of us will lead them back...step by step.

[ she had NO idea just how on point her words would be with regard to Cameron/Nicolas/BLAZE]

Thank you.

[She gracefully exits the stage]

And so

<< A perfect, serene, HOPEFULL end to a wonderful evening.>>

<< A beautiful song dedicated to the Six by a woman who INTIMATELY knew the nature of a journey filled with change, burden and danger; taking it step by step and finding her way. A song dedicated to those who were MISSING from tonight's events- Delilah, Morgan and Haleigh.>>

<< And while Haleigh may be absent, one tradition that she and Morgan started with the Six must still carry on, the annual GROUP SHOT.>>

<< This time, a professional quality VIDEO was captured- featuring Sharon Kelly performing Step by Step in such a way that no doubt Whitney Houston herself would have approved, featuring the members of the Six dancing on the floor around her and the video montage/tribue on the screen behind her providing the appropriate imagery/theme of the Six as individuals and as a team. This special video will now join the ever growing library of THE SIX- the individuals and the GROUP, the FAMILY.>>

<< As this special moment in time and the Six's ever unfolding history comes to a close, so too does the night.>>

<< Everyone slowly goes his/her own way, whether to their guest chambers in Minerva's mansion, or their personal dwelling elsewhere. While OTHERS, such as Delilah and Morgan, both ALREADY in solitude, continue to ponder their current place in their individual journeys. BLAZE also ponders her next move, one that will take her AWAY from this place and these people...FOREVER unless....>>

<< Sharon's final words to the group are what we rest on now...>>
