:: Kurama rolls his eyes at Gossamer and walks with the group to they way out of this forest. He mutters to himself about the sprite but also keeps a watchful eye on Syd. He sent a look to Sati who would recognize it at once as a look of concern about Syd and asking if Sati knew anything or had any ideas ::

*She ate the candy, smiling at it's gooey yumminess. She put on her pack and stood up, following Gossamer and the others.*

"None of us want to die, we just want answers. Does the teeth of those monsters kill us, or do they have some kind of posion? And what did they do to Sydney? I know it's hard for you, but we need you to help us."

*She turned to Rama and the others and whispered.*

"What if this is supposed to be like another one of our little missions? To figure out or kill those monsters? They could have a connection to the evil dude we're after."

Gossamer urges the group onward, deeper into the forest. She spends the time between giving out directions, whispering into Syd's ear and braiding her hair. Syd for her part, is smiling alot more than she had been of late, nodding when Gossamer tells her something she agrees with. Finally the stares of the others get to Sydney, and she snaps at her comrades.

"I am fine, everyone needs to stop worrying about me. I am just tired of all these damn problems we keep having! Most of them could have been prevented, but NO! Certain people are acting like they are the Keepers of the Book of All Knowledgefullness! Making decisions for everyone in the group, without caring what anyone else thinks! Here we are, stuck in this forest with something out there most likely wanting to kill us and with no magick to help fight them off! Is any of this sinking in yet? We are probably going to die here and I don't see any convenient mirrors around that can bring anyone back from the dead! Do you?"

Syd looks at Sati and gives her a small smile.
"Its not that I wanted you to be dead or that I am not happy you're back with everyone. I grieved for you when you were gone, like everyone else. I am scared! Any one of us could die at any time here and I don't want to die. Does that make any sense at all?"

Gossamer croons softly in Syd's ear and gives her another candy. As the candy melts in Syd's mouth she seems to relax. Whether it is from the candy or what Gossamer is whispering to her, only the two of them know for sure.

:: Kurama is bugeyed as Syd blows up on them. She never has done that before, something is wrong with her mentally and Rama is almost positive that They had something to do with it. He stops and falls behind the group he slightly calls to Gossamer, he looks really bashfull as well as remorseful. ::

"Um Gossamer can um I talk to you? I need to ask you something, and if you answer it, it could keep us all safe. So would you please find it in your impish heart to forgive me, I am truly sorry that I tried to hurt you"

:: Rama waited her response with somewhat downcast eyes ::

*She turned around as Syd blew up at the group, and just watched. She shrugged and turned back around, walking over to a tree stump as they waited for Gossamer to lead the way.*

:: Tobias was thankful for the sweet, he had started to feel hungry. He started to follow the rest of the group... When Syd exploded, he was quite shocked and knew that something was up. But he carried on walking, not saying a word, just incase she rounded on him ::

Reen gets into action in between contractions

:: Gossamer watched Rama for a moment... she just looked at him and then nodded ::

"YOU didn't trust Gossamer.. you tried to hurt Gossamer.. but... Gossamer has big heart.. she will forgive you.. but next time.. don't betray Gossamer.. cause MAD Gossamer is not nice Gossamer"

:: Flying closer to him she softly pulled his hair before she flew back to Sydney once again sitting on her shoulder she began to braid her hair again whispering in her ear now and then making the girl nod and smile ::

:: After taking the candy, she eyed the Gossamer suspiciously.. She shook her head slightly. But then again, she did admit - the candy was pretty damn good and refreshing. She brushed some strands of hair from her forehead and sighed. She looked at the conflict between the Gossamer and Rama. She looked over at Rama ::

Telepathically sending him a message: What's going on Rama?

The forest floor starts becoming more and more hilly. The group continues to follow Gossamers directions which lead them to a forest clearing. There is a stream flowing down from one of the rocks in the clearing, forming a pond that if filled with fish before running on into the forest. Gossamer directs Syd to the pool's edge before urging her to sit. She turns to the others after making sure Syd is comfortable.

"Soon, soon we will be there. Now you rest!"

Gossamer flies above the pond, seemingly paying no attention to anyone or anything then suddenly diving into the pool of water and emerges with a fish held in her tiny hands. She brings it to Syd and neatly cleans the fish using her razor sharp nails in just a few minutes. Obviously she has done this type of work before. Syd gets a fire started and spits the fish to start cooking. She and Gossamer continue to be deep in conversation when Syd nods to something Gossamer has said to her and Gossamer becomes highly animated, flying circles around Syd's head.

Finally... a REST STOP.

:: Maia sat beside the pond, resting her feet in the cool water. A sigh of pure relief and relaxation escaped her lips as she slowly leaned backwards, with her hands tucked behind her head. Her hair blew softly, in the dead calm wind, as the Siren lay silently on the ground. She narrowed her chestnut colored eyes over at her best friend who seemed to be bonding with the Gossamer. Along the trip, she didn't think the relationship between the two wouldn't be so serious but it turned out to be a lot more. In the back of her mind, jealously grew slowly... and whenever Maia grew jealous, she was jealous. She shook it off, but it never escaped her mind... The slightest bit of hatred for the Gossamer was inching slowly... slowly ::

"Ugh.. whatever."

:: She turned her head, not looking at the two anymore. She looked up over at the group, smiling slightly ::

"Come on guys... relax!"

:: She lowers herself gently to the ground, leaning her back against a rock, one hand balanced carelessly on her upright knee, the fingertips of her free hand trailing lightly in the refreshing cool of the stream, watching the peaceful water drift by as several strands of vibrant hair blew, unnoticed, across her face. ::

"We could all use the rest... hell knows we might not have much ahead of us, and some of us have had quite a busy time before we got here."

:: Her gaze drifts towards Syd, their friend, with whom Gossammer had seemed to have developed an almost obsessive bond. Narrowing her eyes slightly as Gossammer seems to be getting excited again, she glances at Maia ::

What is she doing?

:: Euthalia was a bit thrown off by the outburst of Sydney. Something had to be wrong with her, no one acted like that for no reason. She dissmissed the suspicion and continued walking until they got to the rest stop. She looked around at the group, then at Gossamer and Sydney. Why was the little fairy flying around Syd. like that? She asked herself and then her eyes caught Maya who seemed to be getting jealous of the two. She giggled silently, and then comfortably layed down over near the strem, the noise of the water topping off the moments of sheer relexation. ::

"When should we start up again? I mean we can't stay here long."

:: She said to the group. Euthalia had to plan ahead for things, even if the circumstances they were in were unpredictable

:: Maia noticed a couple pairs of eyes glued to her and she looked over at Sati and Euthalia and she smiled slightly, wondering why they were staring. Was she that easy to read? She sighed and shook her head, resting a bit as she closed her eyes enjoying as much of the atmosphere as she could before hell knows what will happen next ::

Night again begins to fall and Gossamer decides that this is a good place to stop for the night. She refuses to listen to anyones protests to continue on.

"Nope, nope, nope! Won't go! Pretty friends need to rest. Gossamer not tell where to go, so friends rest now!"

Without the sprite to point the way for them they know they will end up lost and be easy prey for Them. Gossamer directs them to sleep in the trees so they will be safe. For such a tiny thing, her will is like iron. She again tends to Syd who for the first time in awhile, seems almost like herself again. Syd gets ready to climb into the nearest tree but goes over to her friends and tells them good night. The way that she says it almost is like she is saying good bye. Syd climbs her tree and is soon lost in the leaves near the top. Gossamer flies up to join her and they both disappear from view.

The rest decide that someone needs to stand guard and remain awake in case They return. Tobias volunteers and climbs into his tree but remains low enough to see the surrounding area. The others climb a bit higher and make themselves as comfortable as possible.

Halfway through the night, shortly before Toby was about to wake his relief, the forest becomes eerily silent once more. Nervous, he makes to wake the others but is shocked into silence as he sees movement on the edges of the clearing. Walking silently but brazenly into the clearing is a creature like nothing Toby has ever seen before. It is about the size of a pony and resembles nothing so much as an extremely large dog, whipcord thin with long and lanky legs. Looking more closely at the thing, he can see that it is covered in grey scales, almost as if some madman had mated a greyhound with a snake. It moves in an almost hypnotically sinuous manner, its ears back and its yellow eyes aglow. Toby looks directly into its eyes and knows that this tihng is intellegent. Perhaps not like a person would be but definately cunning in the extreme. It sees him and utters a low hiss, then bolts back into the forest before Toby can wake anyone else. A distracted part of his mind realizes that he has looked into the creature's eyes but he couldn't feel anything different about himself. Perhaps Sydneys attitude change had nothing to do with the creatures at all. Pushing aside the thought, he calls out to the others, waking them up. Everyone answers him but Syd. Gossamer flies down to a lower level and yells in her small voice.

"SHHHHHHHH! She is sleeping! You not wake her up or Gossamer will be very cross with you!"

:: Persperation had started to sidle down his face while he is watching the creature. Thinking about what has happened to Syd, he looks into the creatures eyes, but he doesn't feel any different. He breathes a sigh of relief when the creature scampers off. ::

"Hush your noise sprite, one of Them was just here."

:: Brings his voice down to a whisper when the rest of the group were aroused, minus Syd. ::

"They are not that big...er...compared with our size I mean."

:: He added the last bit in just incase Gossamer takes his comment offensively. ::

"They look like a cross between a greyhound and a snake. Kinda creepy if you ask me. He looked at me with these bright, yellow eyes...they were kind of hypnotising, but I don't feel any different, so I don't think what is happening to Syd has anything to do with these creatures. Though I may be wrong, so keep an eye on me guys, just in case...."

:: He climbs down the tree, stretches his legs and then points in the direction that the creature went. ::

"He bolted in that direction, after he gave me a little hiss... You know we have to be careful, they look to me highly intelligent creatures."

:: Rama awakes at the sound of Tobias calling them. He leaps down and listens to what he has said and nods. He still suspects something is up with their eyes but waits for the others responses. He looks to Gossamer ::

"Gossamer.. do you think you could wake her up? We need her mind, she is a part of this team"

Gossamer flies in loops and circles and refuses to "wake" Sydney.
"Nope! Pretty pretty is sleeping, Gossamer not wake her!"

She continues to flit from place to place, hugging herself with joy.

As the others become more and more concerned over their friend they decide they are going to wake her up, even if it means that Gossamer will be "cross" with them.

Climbing into the tree that Sydney slept in, Maia and Euthalia break the coverage of the leaves and are stunned by what they see. A huge cocoon sits in a hollow of the branches, giving off a faint blue glow. Gossamer flies around them, pulling at them trying to make them return to the ground. As the ladies attempt to cut open the cocooon and free their friend, the sprite becomes hysterical, tugging and pulling at them.

"NOOOOOOOOOOO! Don't cut webs! If you cut webs then pretty friend will die, die, die! Pretty friend will die forever and not stay with Gossamer like she wants!"

Gossamer realizes what she has given away and covers her mouth with a tiny hand, her eyes gone round and large.

:: Rama heard all that was said in the trees ::

"Gossamer! Why didn't she tell us or at least you should have, you have betrayed us. Why should we trust you now?"

:: Rama was upset though he would not cut the webbing just yet as he wasnt too sure of the threat that Syd would die. They needed something so that they could check the status of their dear friend ::

*She reached the rest stop, throwing her pack down by the foot of a tree and laying down on the ground for a minute to rest. She walked over to the pond and stared at her reflection, smiling, as she ran her hand through the cool water, brushing it on herself lightly. She watched Gossamer and Syd work on the fish and walked up to them.*

"Need a hand?"

*After they'd eaten, she grabbed her things and waved goodnight to the rest of the group, climbing up into her tree, trying to get as far away from the ground as possible. She settled in and began to sleep, when during the middle of the dream, she awoke to shouting. Hanging down from a branch, she threw herself off, landing on all fours, listening to everyone bicker and move about.*

"Greyhound and a snake...that just doesn't sound right. Gossamer, are you sure Syd wants to stay, or are you making her stay? Either way we need to know what's going on, you're still not telling us anything, why should we trust you really?"

*She looked around at the others, thinking about what was going on and decided to send a message to Maia and Rama.*

"You think seeing the monsters and thinking back on all the beasts we've killed has somehow...knocked Syd into this little "mood" she's in?"

:: As she fell to the ground, Maia looked up at Gossamer, with her eyes cold and black. A sign of danger. Her hair blew backwards, blowing with the breeze. She couldn't believe what the Gossamer was saying. She shook her head, knowing she was right all along. She KNEW the sprite couldn't be trusted... She nodded at Amy's question ::

"THAT'S what I'd like to know, Gossamer."

:: She recieved Amy's message ::

Possibly.... she started acting this way since that beast Toby saw came. And... since that annoying pixy pest started hanging around her.

:: She narrowed her eyes on the Gossamer ::
