Manhattan — EOS Nomad

Gavin was rather pleased with today already. He would very much like more morning like this, waking up next to her. He told her as much, and she replied it was cheaper than getting a sunrise alarm clock.

”And more pleasant, too.”

He added, and then she asked if it was okay that she stayed. He wondered what he had ever done or said to lead her to believe it might not be.

”Of course it is, feel free to stay as much as you please.”

He replied, before he felt his body rising. He asked for her pardon, saying that if he ignore it, it would go away. She lifted her head to look at him, and asked if he ignored it a lot.

”Only when I must.”

He admitted, and offered tea or breakfast if she had time. He held her close, trying to think of other ways to delay her leaving. She smiled at him, and replied that after last night, she ought to make him breakfast. His grin was beaming. It was a rather stellar night.

”Well, you know I hate to disappoint, but those were pretty much my varsity moves, I’m afraid it doesn’t get any better from here on out.”

He replied with self-deprecating humor. The way her hands were sliding over his skin, coupled with the way she looked at him, made him quite certain she did not want his morning wood to go away on its own. At least that was what he hoped, because the aching need seemed only to intensify. The reminder of last night had certainly been provocative. She prompted him for any questions he might have. Despite several months together, it was apparently far too early for a certain proposal (as evidenced by their discussion of marriage yesterday), so he kept that one for later. He thought of something else, and then looked at her very seriously.

”Yes, I do have some more questions. First of all, do you know the muffin man?”

He asked, just to see her smile again. He did love her smile.

“More importantly, would you like a drawer? To keep things in? For convenience when you stay in the future?”

His hands traveled down her back to grasp her hips, and he rubbed himself against her.

”Lastly, must we ignore this? It’s not going away this morning, I want you too badly.”

When Gavin told her it was okay that she stayed, she felt herself relax. She didn’t want him to think she’d overstepped.

He offered to make breakfast, but his morning reaction to their proximity was incredibly distracting. She suggested that she owed him breakfast after his performance last night.

Gavin: ”Well, you know I hate to disappoint, but those were pretty much my varsity moves, I’m afraid it doesn’t get any better from here on out.”

She brushed the hair off his forehead, smiling.

”If it’s a repeat of last night, I’m definitely okay with that.”

She teasingly asked if there were any other burning questions he might want to ask. She was happy to head off any more fights between them.

Gavin: ”Yes, I do have some more questions. First of all, do you know the muffin man?”

She laughed out loud, then grinned down at him.

Gavin: “More importantly, would you like a drawer? To keep things in? For convenience when you stay in the future?”

“Really?!”

Delilah blushed.

”I’d love that.”

She kissed him eagerly, feeling his hand slide down to her hips. And something else rubbing against her.

Gavin: ”Lastly, must we ignore this? It’s not going away this morning, I want you too badly.”

”You were the one talking about ignoring it. I thought you’d never ask.”

She smiled against his lips as she pressed hers against his, rolling onto her back and pulling him on top of her. Her legs snaked around his waist, opening herself to him. Her hands held his shoulders, her tongue slipped deeper into his mouth, a whimper of pleading escaping as she felt him pressed against her wetness.

”Please…”

Blackwell’s Island — Hellfire, the White Queen’s Office

Haleigh asked her Knight curiously about his concern with the Estrada woman. When Cameron had told her an ‘ex-girlfriend’ had turned up to harass him, she had assumed it was Sharon or Alycia. This woman was an unknown variable, but since Cameron had technically told her about it already, she didn’t consider it to be as big a deal as he was making it. Maybe he’d assumed Cameron hadn’t told her about the lunch. She waited for him to reveal something she didn’t know, but he just looked at her like he was waiting for her to react. She repeated the gist of what he’d told her, and prompted for more. There was apparently nothing to it, except for the fact that he’d sent someone out to Mexico to follow up.

”Who did you send?”

AJ: “Owen Merrick.”

”The bartender?”

She asked to confirm. He wouldn’t know Lynceus was a Clandestine contract informant, which made him a peculiar choice from Savage’s perspective.

AJ: “He cannot be lied to or deceived.”

Clearly he had made some connections during her absence, which was a positive development. She was not well suited to be his only person of interest in the modern world, especially not now, with a brand new marriage.

”I appreciate you taking the initiative on this. Unless Owen comes up with something more interesting than an emotional lunch, we can leave the Estrada woman to her own devices. If she comes back to NY, then we’ll renew concern. What have you got for me on the former Red Bishop?”

She asked, and he folded his arms across his chest before answering. He reported nothing of note, lunch with a handicapped woman — so, Elizabeth York obviously — a faithful gym membership, shopping. Haleigh smiled in spite of herself.

”She’s sticking to basic bitch routines on purpose. She’s made you.”

She said, and AJ looked surprised. He insisted that was hardly possible, that he’d only tracked her once, and he rotated others through the task daily so she could not have recognized anyone.

”Still, she knows. We might as well give up being discreet. Track her again yourself. Continuously close the distance until she confronts you.”

AJ: “To what purpose?”

”That depends on her.”

Hellfire - Back to The Mansion

Sophie:
"But 'construction' on this space only finishes when you say so, Cameron. When you decide what arms this operation needs. So what do you see Cameron? What do we need? How do we finish this place up?"

He spent the next hour telling them exactly just that. That the embassy was to be a place of harbor for those who needed it. How they needed as many telepaths and psi sensitives in their employ as they could get. That he had wanted to set up a network of astral travelers to monitor the planes, as deeply and thoroughly as they could, to detect malignant entities gaining traction. To know when things were about to take a turn. When somebody with too much power thought they could do what he had done. That they also needed mentors. Those who watched after young and nascent travelers, to keep them from the parts of the plane that would cause them harm. To be a resource for them, to train them, so that they didn't end up like he did. It was still something he hadn't shared with anybody. Of his time with his mother in The Further, when he realized that his life wasn't what he thought. That he hadn't been dropped off at a church as an infant - that in fact, he had spent the first ten years of his life with his mother and father and sisters. That his connection to Diana was far deeper than anyone knew. After everything they'd gone through, he felt it best to try and deal with that on his own. He would tell Haleigh when she was ready to hear it. But for now, he made plans to ensure that it never happened to another child.

Before long, The Trifecta and Cameron had returned to his offices in The Hellfire Trading Company. After tying up some loose ends, he and the girls agreed that he would need to talk to Ava. Both fortunately and unfortunately, Cameron was about to go to brunch with her, as well as his wife. In some kind of cease fire. Or it would end up being the kind of brunch where they just made niceties at each other and ignored what was really going on. He didn't want that. He wanted to fix things with Ava, but he also didn't feel like he wanted to back down. Everything he had said to her...he had wanted to say for quite some time. He was sick of how she dealt with things that happened to her. He was sick of her always keeping herself just beyond arm's reach and then being resentful when people didn't respond the way she wanted or needed them to. And he was worried that it was something she just didn't have it in her to admit. But he wouldn't stop trying. Things were so fractured in The Six. All this revelation of new familial ties, of Cameron and Haleigh getting married. Of the fallout from Nicolas' death. He had to make precise decisions about who he regarded as family. Who he cared about enough to try and resolve things with. And Ava...for better or worse was on that list. She was the closest person to his sister, and for all intents and purposes, she was now his sister in law. If anything, he knew that Haleigh wouldn't suffer him and Ava not fixing things for long.

Heading back into his quarters, he reached out with his mind to see Haleigh having a meeting with AJ. The man was severe and effective, but also able to be read like a book. He cared for Haleigh, and as Cameron peaked in he realized just how willing the man was to prove that to her. Rolling his eyes, he walked over to his vanity, refreshing his cologne and changing his watch to something more brunch appropriate. He had been honest with Haleigh, and he likened him going to eat with Elena as the same as her having a meeting with Zach. He probably wouldn't like it, but the two of them had been through enough to not really be bothered. They had actively chosen each other, had legally tied themselves to each other, and done all of which in the face of some of the worst aftermath the team had ever experienced. He wasn't worried, but he also just didn't need the added stress of having to explain his first love to the world because people couldn't mind their own goddamn business, and part of him wanted to remind AJ that he was a king in Hellfire, and that there were consequences to attempting to discredit a king despite the purity of one's intentions. There was no smoke or fire here, and he would make sure to let AJ know that personally at the soonest opportunity.

Heading down into The Great Hall, he was relieved to see a positively beautiful setting, the right amount of flowers, in the perfect color scape and lightly played classical music filling the hall. He smirked for a moment as he took a seat at the table, greeted by attendants and delivered a bloody mary without asking. He was rubbing off on Haleigh. She had a sense of elegance and style, she just actively campaigned against it in favor of chicken wings and heavy artillery. This table setting, and the general atmosphere was not for her, but it was for Ava and Cameron. Because they would appreciate it.

"I need an order of sausage, and i'm gonna do the benedict. A filthy, filthy, benedict."

Brenthon had opened up to her about something that was deeply personal, and despite not wanting to dive into the topic of Hades, it was only fair that she shared a bit of her insight on the matter. Persephone opened up more than she would have liked, but her friend needed guidance and help. To know that he wasn't alone and she did understand where he was coming from. She related to him more than he even realized.

Brenthon: "You are smarter than I remember you being. Or do I have [sarcastically] Ava to thank for that?"

Persephone rolled her eyed at that, finally cracking smile.

"I've always been this smart, Ava's just more level headed."

She quipped lightheartedly. Taking her feet out of the water, Persephone stood and smoothed out her crimson dress, opting to carry her heels as her feet dried. As much as she loved seeing Brenthon again, the conversation was starting to make her feel less comfortable which meant it was time for her to take her leave. Plus, she had brunch in about 10 minutes so it really was the perfect excuse to go without seeming like she was running away. Brenthon embraced her again, Persephone wrapping her arms around him tightly as well.

Brenthon: "I would love to see the man your sister calls her husband-"

Persephone lifted her eyes up to the sky, half rolling them at that.

Brenthon: "-but I can sense I prodded enough for one day. Thank you for your words, Persephone. But know this...no matter where I am, I am never out of darkness...and neither are you. But you are right...we cannot let that darkness define us. You have helped me today. But do not let a relic from the past interfere with your present..."

That caused Persephone to pause, her eyes closing as Brenthon squeezed her tighter. Her hands gripped the back of his shirt, gently nodding.

"I'll try.."

She replied softly, although it was easier said than done. She held onto him for a few moments longer before finally pulling back, giving him a small smile. Pointing to the phone in his hand.

[jokingly] "Text me."

Her smile grew before she disappeared in a tornado of flames, reappearing back in her chambers. Once there, Persephone let out a long, slow breath in an effort to expel the growing tension from her body. The throbbing of a headache was prominent behind her eyes, which both burned from exhaustion. Craning her neck from side to side in an effort to stretch the tightened muscles, she finally leaned forward and slipped her heels back on her feet, buckling them securely around her ankles. Standing from the bed, Persephone walked over to her vanity and picked up a bottle of gardenia oil and dabbed it on her wrists and behind her ears before finally, giving herself a once over. She looked like the definition of the Hellfire Red Queen, her mask securely back in place. Walking out of her chambers, she made her way down to the Great Hall where brunch was being served. Upon entering, she immediately saw Cameron already sitting with a Bloody Mary in hand. Why was Haleigh always late.

Taking a seat furthest away from him, an attendant immediately approached with a double shot espresso martini. This person deserved a fucking raise. Immediately taking a sip, it felt like heaven on her tongue.

"I'll take a quad shot Americano as well. And um...a fruit bowl."

She didn't have much of an appetite for anything other than coffee and alcohol recently. Taking another sip of her espresso martini, Persephone finally looked across the table at the White King.

"Cameron."

Her greeting formal and even.

Blackwell's - Hellfire - Great Hall

Ava:
"Cameron."

[smirking]

"Maleficent."

It was still a bit jarring to see her wear so much red. For as long as he knew her, she'd always worn black, as if it were her religion to do so. And he always appreciated it. It was a bit poetic and sad. She had met a man who had ignited passion in her, and she was wearing his colors, and yet he was nowhere to be found, but Cameron said nothing as he was now sitting in the new headquarters of Hellfire, wearing all white, under his wife's banner, acting as her King.

He watched as her fruit bowl was set down before her at the same time as his eggs benedict. He began to unwrap the cloth napkin from his silverware as he placed the napkin over his lap, shooting her a mischevious look.

"Watch out for pomegranate seeds."

Cameron stabbed his eggs with his knife, never ceasing to believe that one of the greatest joys in the world was watching runny egg yolk explode into delicious hollaindaise sauce as he grabbed some Tapatio sauce from the table and began to cover his plate generously.

"Haleigh is busy with AJ at the moment...he's busy filling her in on my suprise guest from yesterday. Poor guy holds a torch for her..."

He eyed Ava up and down for a moment. He'd never been able to read her mind, and part of him wondered if Ava maybe was the one to give AJ intel on his meeting with Elena, but he decided for now not to believe that. She was a bitch at times, but she wasn't a petty bitch.

"Thankfully for us all...I have nothing to hide. Speaking of hidden however, my girls have found a large amount of assets that require our attention...are you too pissed at me to discuss a bit of business?"

The others had their own, very specific empires, but Ava and Cameron had always been the good old fashion "businessmen". Titans in their own right. And when it came down to it, nobody could make money the way they both could make money. Together, they had an amount of wealth that was greater than entire countries. Employed hundreds of thousands of people. Cameron was hoping, that despite their personal feelings, they might be able to somehow connect, over the thing that had actually once brought them together...when Ava had joined The Zenith Group, trusted him enough to share her resources as he did with her. But he knew after yesterday, that was asking for a lot.

LOL @ Maleficent
Ava gave Cameron a formal greeting for no other reason than they needed to remain cordial with one another within the walls of Hellfire. He was now the White King, and she had to respect the fact that they ruled this club together.

Cameron: "Maleficent."

Ava tipped her espresso martini at him, giving his little quip a cheers.

"You flatter me."

She purred cooly before taking a sip of her drink, knowing he wasn't giving her a compliment. It wasn't long before their food was placed before them, as well as Ava's quad Americano. Placing her cloth napkin on her lap, Ava picked up her fork and began to move the fruit around in her bowl, not really interested in eating it. It was more for show really.

Cameron: "Watch out for pomegranate seeds."

Lifting her eyes as he smiled mischievously, Ava sighed as she stabbed a seed with her fork, lifting it up.

"How original."

Pulling the pomegranate seed off the fork with her teeth, she smiled back before chewing it, rolling her eyes away from him. A server passed by, Ava stopping him. She pointed at Cameron with the end of her fork.

"Get the White King some pomegranate juice, he seems parched."

Placing the fork beside her bowl, Persephone picked up the americano, blowing the hot liquid to cool it.

Cameron: "Haleigh is busy with AJ at the moment...he's busy filling her in on my surprise guest from yesterday. Poor guy holds a torch for her..."

"He's loyal to his Queen."

Ava interjected before taking a sip of her coffee. If Cameron wanted to fish around and see what she thought about his little lunch date with the Latino woman yesterday, she wasn't going to take the bait. AJ had every right to get intel on whoever that woman was, especially considering Cameron was making it a point to explain he had nothing to hide.

Cameron: "Thankfully for us all...I have nothing to hide. Speaking of hidden however, my girls have found a large amount of assets that require our attention...are you too pissed at me to discuss a bit of business?"

Ava placed her coffee down, sitting back in her seat. Business was business, and whether she liked Cameron or not, Ava couldn't deny the fact that he was one of the best business men she had ever worked with. She had dealt with far worse people than Cameron King in the past and remained professional, this would be no different. Ava didn't bother to respond to his little 'pissed' comment, instead she narrowed her eyes inquisitively, tilting her head.

"What did they find?"

Blackwell's - Hellfire - Great Hall

Ava:
"Get the White King some pomegranate juice, he seems parched."

"Well my wife would agree I have an unquenchable thirst...."

He smirked, before commenting on his wife's whereabouts, that she was meeting with AJ, who was more than happy to report Cameron's whereabouts.

Ava: "He's loyal to his Queen."

That kind of language made him tense up. Cameron was doing this whole thing for his wife. He was under no illusion about what Hellfire was. It was a cult, plain and simple. It was a bunch of mutants who crafted an ideology and used that ideology to bring in vulnerable mutants to abuse and manipulate them under the guise that they would get access to power. These titles of rook and bishop and knight were just methods used to control. Given to reinforce the belief that any of them were actually getting there. He had seen the deepest financials this place had to offer. There was no business plan. There was no actual goal. All of it was word salad carefully crafted by Malice herself. To see Ava now, so easily able to say that AJ was 'loyal' to his Queen, as if it were some kind of badge of honor, despite there being no real promise of actual tangible reward, it reinforced to him how deeply Ava had fallen into this place. And how badly he wanted ALL of them out. On the other hand, he was experiencing Hellfire in a place of transition. It was an effort. Every second of the day while he was in these walls. The performativity of this place, of how every word was measured. It gave him insight to the kind of ordeal both Ava and his wife had gone through, and it was why now, he kept his mouth shut. That and because it was breakfast, his favorite meal of the day and he didn't want to ruin it.

So he shifted to business, knowing that sometimes the shortest distance between two points was a straight line. Thankfully, she was a bit more receptive to this.

Ava: 'What did they find?"

"Drugs. But the proper kind. A lot of the money this place lived off of were some well timed drug patents that Kelly King, Adam and Christopher had developed. Once they were dead, these companies were kind of ignored...That and a few military contracts..."

He took a bite of his eggs and a sip of his pomegranate juice that had just arrived at the table, to which he gave Ava a nod of approval.

"Damn good. I can see how one might get lost in the sauce."

He wiped his mouth with his napkin.

"Basically...our goal here is to get these patents and contracts into our hands and out of Hellfire. I'm in a lot of industries, but prescription drugs and military contracts aren't necessarily my forte. Furthermore, some of these drugs are life saving. Taking a look at the costs of these to consumers? Even with insurance, it's fucking criminal..."

"I can get the drug patents, but I don't have that kind of manufacturing space. That's where you come in. You do what you do best to secure the military contracts, we use the space used up in those contracts to house the manufacturing of these drugs, and use the money from those contracts to subsidize the cost of the drugs. Cassadine Corp...and The Zenith Group gets a big PR boost, we help a lot of people get medication they deserve...and we take Hellfire's largest stream of income off the board..."

He sat his glass down on the table and switched over for a long sip of his bloody mary.

"Because that is the goal here, Ava. To...

he lowered his voice as he looked both ways before continuing.

"To dismantle Hellfire America...to end it."

Ava sipped her Americano, watching Cameron's reaction as she stated that AJ was only being loyal to his queen. He remained stoic, composed. But the slightest muscle tension in his neck gave him away. He may have been wearing Haleigh's colors, but he still hadn't adapted to Hellfire. Ava didn't bother to comment, licking the bitter espresso from her lips as she placed her cup down asking what his girls had found. Apparently a lot of drugs and military weapons.

Cameron: "Drugs. But the proper kind. A lot of the money this place lived off of were some well timed drug patents that Kelly King, Adam and Christopher had developed. Once they were dead, these companies were kind of ignored...That and a few military contracts..."

"Military contracts I can handle."

Ava commented, her company being the biggest weapons dealers in the world. Military, black market, new age, antiques, prototypes, the list went on. She had pockets all around the world deep enough to get what she needed and distribute it to the highest bidder, legitimate or otherwise. Drugs on the other hand were not her forte. Granted they marketed just like weapons, but Ava never really wanted to dive into that pool. It just seemed too dirty.

Cameron: "Damn good. I can see how one might get lost in the sauce."

She rolled her eyes, huffing out a sigh of contempt at his joke.

[deadpan] "I'll make sure you're the protagonist in the next mythology. Now can we continue?"

Cameron: "Basically...our goal here is to get these patents and contracts into our hands and out of Hellfire. I'm in a lot of industries, but prescription drugs and military contracts aren't necessarily my forte. Furthermore, some of these drugs are life saving. Taking a look at the costs of these to consumers? Even with insurance, it's fucking criminal..."

"Prescription drugs are the new street drug, Big Phrama is just capitalizing on it."

Ava shook her head, the pharmaceutical companies making billions of dollars a year off of tripling the prices of drugs that were pennies to make.

Cameron: "I can get the drug patents, but I don't have that kind of manufacturing space. That's where you come in. You do what you do best to secure the military contracts, we use the space used up in those contracts to house the manufacturing of these drugs, and use the money from those contracts to subsidize the cost of the drugs."

It was a noble thought, but Ava was a bit hesitant, her expression showing as much.

"That's easier said than done. We can't just sell drugs at market price to people, especially since neither of our companies are established in the pharmaceutical field. We'll have to get approval from the FDA, CDC...it's going to be a shit show jumping through all those hoops."

But Cameron didn't want to hear it. When he set his mind to something, it was nearly impossible to navigate him in a different direction. Could what he was saying be done? Yes. But not immediately, not by a long shot. It would take years.

Cameron: "Cassadine Corp...and The Zenith Group gets a big PR boost, we help a lot of people get medication they deserve...and we take Hellfire's largest stream of income off the board..."

[quietly] "Lower. Your. Voice."

Ava warned evenly, her eyes looking toward some of the servers who were walking by the table. Cameron might have been White King, but he had only recently taken his colors. He didn't understand the game, nor did he seem to understand that while they were the new regents, there were still many people within the American Hellfire walls who wanted to see them dead for what they had all done to the old regime.

Cameron: "Because that is the goal here, Ava. To dismantle Hellfire America...to end it."

Ava looked irritated, rubbing the pads of her fingers roughly across her brow as she shut her eyes. Finally, she sat more upright, leaning herself into the table to close the distance between the two of them. Her voice low.

"I'm aware of the endgame, Cameron. We'll discuss the latter half of this conversation later."

It was one thing to have staff overhear that they wanted to profit off of old Hellfire contracts within their respective companies. It was a dog eat dog business world, and any smart business owner would do the same. But it was quite another thing for the staff to overhear that they were purposely trying to take these contracts from Hellfire in order to dismantle and destroy the American Branch. Persephone sat back in her chair once again, her eyes not leaving Cameron's. It was obvious he didn't trust that she was trying to accomplish the same goal as him and Haleigh. He still thought she wanted to be apart of Hellfire - the old Hellfire. She didn't. But his trust in her was limited to only Ava, not Persephone, and it was blindingly obvious.

"You really don't trust me anymore, do you? So much for being 'family'."

She said with contempt before finishing off her espresso martini.

Blackwell's - Hellfire - Great Hall

Ava:
"That's easier said than done. We can't just sell drugs at market price to people, especially since neither of our companies are established in the pharmaceutical field. We'll have to get approval from the FDA, CDC....it's going to be a shit show jumping through all those hoops."

"I thrive in shit shows, Ava."

He didn't like her response because it felt like she was willing to prolong how long this would take so that she wouldn't have to leave Hellfire so soon, but he tried to shake that feeling. Cameron wasn't worried, and he wasn't above using his powers to get what he wanted if it meant crippling Hellfire. Approval from any government entity would not be a problem. He reiterated to her that their goal was to cripple Hellfire, to which she did not respond kindly.

Ava: "Lower. Your. Voice."

Instinctively Cameron averted the minds and senses of all those in the hall to give them a bit more privacy, and telekinetically shifted all cameras to areas of non interest.

Ava: "I'm aware of the endgame, Cameron. We'll discuss the latter half of this conversation later."

It was fair enough, but then she just had to say something.

Ava: "You really don't trust me anymore, do you? So much for being 'family."

He wasn't sure how to respond to that because if he was being honest with himself, he wasn't sure that he did trust Ava right now. But it wasn't so black and white. And he didn't appreciate how frequently Ava had been using the term family as some sort of slight against him.

"I always trust you to do the right thing, Ava. But I've seen this girl before..."

[he gestured with his hands at her direction up and down]

"Shut down. Burned out. But carrying on because it's the right thing do. Despite how she feels about it all. It's a quality you and your sister both share. "

[pausing]

"But it's different this time, Ava. Look...your reasons for defecting to Hellfire are your own. I think it's just better for both of us at this point to agree to disagree, but you did...go to Hellfire. And because you don't talk to anyone ever about your problems, all I can do is go off what I've heard, what I can pick up from you. You fell in love, you claimed The Underworld to bring him back. You met somebody and fell in love so quickly and so deeply that you were willing to deal with Hades to try and get him back..."

Cameron took a sip of his bloody mary. Ava may have had a PSI screen, but telepathy wasn't Cameron's only talent. Ava had never been easy to read, but over the years, he was able to get at least a nascent sense of how she felt when he needed to know. And he could sense the faintest hint of the maelstrom of emotion inside of her, though if he was being honest, that was always kind of there. He was worried that if she was able to bring him back, what if Alek wanted to keep Hellfire? What if he wanted to rule it? Rule it with her? What then? She would have quite literally moved Heaven and Earth to get him back. He knew Ava, but he didn't know Alek. If he truly made her happy, would she be willing to leave them...for good? for him?

"And I can sense that me even bringing this up infuriates you. Makes you want to push me away. Erupt. Leave. And we're never going to get anywhere if you keep doing that. We're never going to fix us if you can't let me in..."

He gestured to the people around them.

"I glamoured them. They can't hear or sense a thing we're saying."

Cameron leaned back in his chair and let out an exasperated sigh.

"You are my family, Ava. I love you. But I hate what you're doing to yourself. I want to understand it, I really do. But you have to understand that I was on the opposite side of this the whole time. I was taking care of a team that felt betrayed. A team that was broken. And it still is..."

[pausing]

"This was war, and maybe we can glue some of the pieces back together. But some of those pieces? We'll never get back..."

He downed the rest of his drink and shook his head.

"Look..this is too heavy for brunch. And Haleigh deserves to have a nice meal where her husband and her sister can get along. So...let's just revisit this later...but don't ghost me. We have to sit down and hash this out..however it looks."

Blackwell’s Island — Hellfire, the White Queen’s Office

Haleigh knew what AJ what trying to do. The man had such a strange sense of honor. He had apparently been patiently waiting for Cameron to die from his coma, but now that Cam had recovered, AJ seemed to have no qualms about throwing him under the proverbial bus. It was a complex situation. Haleigh and AJ had been working together now for over a year, they had gotten to know and respect each other. AJ would not be satisfied with meaningless physical relations. He would want more, a lot more than Haleigh could give him, but he was a good Knight.

She would have to be tactful with him. She told him she appreciated his effort, though she made sure not to seem too interested in Elena Estrada or whatever she was doing with Cameron. She asked a few questions but ultimately indicated the problem was low priority. She redirected his attention to Alexis Quartermaine, who Haleigh was much more interested in keeping an eye on. Of course the woman was expecting it and toying with them. Haleigh decided to push the issue, wanting to see what that would produce.

There was always more to attend to, but she was already late for brunch. She closed up her office and headed for the Great Hall at a brisk pace. She reached out with her mind, finding that there was some interference with the surveillance apparatus. She probed for their cellphones, and ‘heard’ them discussing business. There was still a lot of tension between Cameron and Ava. Haleigh was trying to remain neutral, as best she could. She understood both sides of the conflict. Haleigh slowed her pace to allow them time to discuss it without her. When they reached a pause, she turned the corner into the Hall and took the straightest path to their table. She was met by their server as soon as she reached her chair.

Server: “Good morning, White Queen. I presume you’d like coffee?”

”Yes, as black as my soul, please. And a Tequila Sunrise.”

She replied, thinking that she could still drink as if she were on her honeymoon, despite it getting cut short.

”Whatever the Chef wants to make me for breakfast will be fine.”

She added, and then she looked around the table. She gave her husband a smile before her gaze settled on her sister.

”Seph, Brenthon arrived here last night. I understand you two are old friends, have you seen him yet?”

Ava wasn't opposed to what Cameron was suggesting, but she also knew when Cameron got an idea like this in his head, he would go at it full force without really thinking about every angle. It was going to be a shit show getting approval from multiple federal association to even be able to distribute these drugs at market value, but Cameron said he thrived on shit shows, but more than that, he began to suggest that Ava wasn't aware of the reasoning behind what they were doing. The endgame of dismantling Hellfire America. That was when she started to get pissed, calling him out on not trusting her anymore, because frankly, that was what this whole discussion boiled down to.

Cameron: "I always trust you to do the right thing, Ava. But I've seen this girl before...[he gestured with his hands at her direction up and down] Shut down. Burned out. But carrying on because it's the right thing do. Despite how she feels about it all. It's a quality you and your sister both share. "

"Then leave it alone, Cameron."

Ava countered, knowing where this conversation was heading. If he was so used to dealing with Haleigh shutting down and carrying on through her traumas and hardships, then this wouldn't be new to him. However in true Cameron fashion, he kept pressing on, bringing up why she defected to Hellfire again. Not understanding the reasons. Saying she doesn't talk about her problems. Doesn't let anyone in. Brushing over her relationship with Alek as if she were some high schooler who fell for the 'bad boy' and would eventually snap out of it. Ava's eyes were hard, glaring at the fruit bowl in front of her, refusing to look at Cameron as she tempered her breathing. She needed to anchor herself to something other than the White King otherwise Haleigh would be walking into an all out brawl.

Cameron: "You met somebody and fell in love so quickly and so deeply that you were willing to deal with Hades to try and get him back..."

Ava's eyes finally flicked up, dark.

"Shut. UP. You know nothing about Hades. Or Alek. For an omega level telepath, you're fucking blind."

She hissed, her eyes becoming glassy. Ava averted her line of sight, looking toward the Great Hall entrance that was also the closest exit.

Cameron: "And I can sense that me even bringing this up infuriates you. Makes you want to push me away. Erupt. Leave. And we're never going to get anywhere if you keep doing that. We're never going to fix us if you can't let me in..."

"Maybe I don't want to fix us."

Ava spat back in anger, although that was a lie. Despite being furious with Cameron and what he had done to her during the battle, deep down she knew he didn't do it to hurt her. And everything he was saying today AND yesterday was because he loved her and was trying to help her. But letting him in meant opening up to a reality she didn't want to share with him or anyone else. She would rather suffer alone than have them look at her or treat her like a victim.

Cameron: "You are my family, Ava. I love you. But I hate what you're doing to yourself. I want to understand it, I really do. But you have to understand that I was on the opposite side of this the whole time. I was taking care of a team that felt betrayed. A team that was broken. And it still is...This was war, and maybe we can glue some of the pieces back together. But some of those pieces? We'll never get back..."

Her line of sight was still focused on the entrance to the Great Hall, although now cast down as Cameron spoke. They were filled with tears, however Ava kept them at bay. She hated how Cameron knew exactly what buttons to push to get to her. Maybe he wasn't such a shitty telepath after all, she thought bitterly. He finally conceded, saying that they would discuss this later because Haleigh deserved to have a pleasant brunch with both her husband and sister. And as if on cue, Haleigh walked in through the Great Hall entrance, causing Ava to quickly look away and over to the server that was passing her.

"I'll have another espresso martini."

The server nodded giving Ava a few seconds to collect herself and put on her game face. Haleigh had already sat down and ordered herself a drink and her food, and by the time her gaze settled on Ava, it was as if nothing had happened.

Haleigh: ”Seph, Brenthon arrived here last night. I understand you two are old friends, have you seen him yet?”

She softly smiled to herself at Haleigh still calling her 'Seph'. It was such a stark contrast to Cameron.

"I actually met with him before brunch."

She admitted as the server brought over her espresso martini, placing it in front of Ava.

"We were apart of the Masters of Evil for years together. I saw him die at the hands of Black, but I guess in that moment he fell through one of Darkchilde's stepping discs and into Limbo. [shaking her head in disbelief still] I still can't believe he's alive."

Picking up her martini, Ava took a sip.

"I extended your offer for him to stay here for as long as he likes. I know it's going to take a little bit for him to adjust to this new world."

Blackwell's - Hellfire - Great Hall

He didn't want to back down and he wasn't blind, because he knew Ava. You had to piss her off to get anything real out of her, and then that turned into pain, and then she got emotional and then she pulled it all back in like it never happened. Cameron was tired of it, but it was the only script he had ever been shown from Ava, so he continued to press her while trying to keep the theme being that he was concerned and that he did, in fact, care about her.

Ava: "Shut. UP. You know nothing about Hades. Or Alek. For an omega level telepath, you're fucking blind."

"God you are insufferable."

She needed to be mad at herself. Because if she had ever let anybody in besides Alison, who had the emotional intelligence of a komodo dragon, she might have had people around her that could understand her better. That could rally around her when she needed them. Any friendship Ava had developed with the others had been because they had done the work to try and figure out the warm underbelly underneath the ice. The irony wasn't lost on him that he felt the same way about his own sister. But he still believed there was hope for Ava, because she did erupt. And despite how she felt about things...she was still here. He continued and was met with venom.

Ava: "Maybe I don't want to fix us."

He felt a rush of anger well up inside of him. Now she was just being a bitch, but he knew he couldn't erupt things between them like he had yesterday. He could sense his wife making haste in their direction, deliberately slowing her pace to let them finish, but soon she arrived. There was nothing settled, but it did feel a bit better than yesterday, so that was something.

Server: "Good morning, White Queen. I presume you'd like coffee?"

Haleigh: "Yes, as black as my soul, please. And a tequila sunrise."

He smirked as she sat down next to him. It never ceased to amaze him how much more relaxed and strong he felt when she was by his side. He placed his hand on her thigh under the table and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

Haleigh: "Whatever the Chef wants to make me for breakfast will be fine."

Cameron gestured for another bloody mary, hoping some hair of the dog would help him after all he drank last night.

Haleigh: "Seph, Brenthon arrived here last night. I understand you two are old friends, have you seen him yet?"

Cameron had been told countless times that Persephone and Ava were the same person, but it was clear that Ava had leaned on the Persephone aspects of herself to protect herself at Hellfire. It was Persephone that attacked him. Nearly killed people who were once considered her friends. He hadn't gone through the effort of nearly carving Persephone out of Ava's psyche to sit there and ever call her Seph. She was Ava Cassadine to him and always would be.

Ava: "I actually met with him before brunch. We were apart of the Masters of Evil for years together. I saw him die at the hands of Black, but I guess in that moment he fell through one of Darkchilde's stepping discs and into Limbo...I still can't believe he's alive."

He had seen flashes of Brenthon through Haleigh's eyes, and while he was very much somebody he could picture his wife going to town on, he had bigger things to deal with than the harmless flirting between the two. Haleigh's secondary mutation was the ability to charm the pants off of every man she came across, figuratively and literally. But Brenthon worried him. Somebody from Persephone's past was now here...and he didn't want to think about what that might mean. It felt like it would just give her more of a reason to never get back to who she was before. And Cameron was starting to feel like she didn't want to.

Ava: "I extended your offer to him to stay here for as long as he likes. I know it's going to take a little bit for him to adjust to this new world."

"I can imagine the culture shock of Limbo and Hell Dimensions to New York City might be--well actually, probably very similar experiences. I'm sure he'll be fine, but I think it's great of both of you to open the property to him. I'll help him in any way I can..."

His bloody mary arrived and he took another long sip, his hand never leaving Haleigh's thigh as he gestured for his food to be taken away and ordered a chocolate muffin, now requiring something sweet. He was always voracious after a run.

"I spent some good quality with Delilah last night..and Gavin. She seems...really settled. More so than I've seen in a long time. And Gavin is great. He's polite and funny, and they have a lot in common.."

He was a great guy on paper. And they really did seem to get along. And with Delilah being a mother, he knew she had to think differently about the relationships she entered into...but Cameron always thought she needed somebody with a little more darkness. Not that he wanted her with Bishop again, but Delilah had an edge that needed to be sharpened every now and then, otherwise she got antsy. And he had been honest in his regard of not invading Gavin's mind, so he wasn't sure the man had the depth he felt she needed. He also realized he was just being protective, in his own Cameron way.

"She seems...happy. Now if we could only get Alexia back to her and she might actually have a chance to have all the things she's always wanted.."

He had a thought just then.

"Alexia has reminded me of...Alexis Quartermaine. I know we've been keeping tabs on her, but is there any news. After everything that's happened, I would kind of like to see her. Talk to her, see where's she at. But I know that's shooting for the moon..."

Blackwell’s Island — Hellfire, the Great Hall

Haleigh joined Ava and Cameron, who were already in the midst of brunch. She placed her order with very little consideration for choice, trusting the chef would come up with something good. Cam reached for her as soon as she sat down. Her hand found his and gave it a little squeeze as he kissed her cheek. She brought up Brenthon, a relatively safe topic to start with. Ava said that she’d just met with him prior to lunch.

”Ah, excellent.”

She said, taking a sip of her piping hot coffee. Seph explained where she knew Beto from, which confirmed his story somewhat. She mentioned that she’d thought he died and was surprised to see him alive. Haleigh smirked at that.

”You really find it all that hard to believe? How many people do we know that have actually stayed dead? Victims of the Soul Sword are all that comes to mind. Everybody else comes back in one way or another.”

She replied, and then nodded when Ava told her that she’d taken the liberty of extending the offer of hospitality to as long as Brenthon desired it.

“Good. Apparently Morgan was going to put him up at the Sanctum, but can you imagine staying there as a guest? It’s like another dimension in there, he’d probably feel like he was still in Limbo. Plus it’s not a very hospitable place. When I first arrived, the house put me into some kind of illusion involving my fucking mother. What a welcoming party, am I right?”

She said, shaking her head. She wondered what the house tested Seph with, but Cameron was remarking on Brenthon and his transition, and then he mentioned Delilah. He said that she seemed happy with Gavin, which didn’t surprise Haleigh. Cameron suggested that they needed to recover Alexia from Limbo, and Haleigh nodded.

”Unfortunately no matter how many times I suggest it, Delilah doesn’t like the idea of suppressing Alexia’s powers. So we need to find someone to teach her how to control her powers, I guess. And I didn’t get a chance yesterday to talk Morgan into bringing Alexia to Earth under our care now that Malice is gone, but I’ll work on her. Cameron and I are her Godparents, and having her here at Blackwell’s should be far enough from Delilah’s place to be safe.”

She paused for more coffee, then continued.

“So, if I stroke Morgan’s ego enough, we might be able to get her to agree that Alexia can at LEAST be brought into our realm. The issue is that she’s still pretty resentful of Delilah for being resentful of HER making decisions without Lilah’s input. So that’s a challenge, but I think it can be done. I’ve made a lot of progress with Morgan personally lately.”

She said, as a stack of French toast with assorted berries piled on top and a dusting of powered sugar was placed in front of her. She told the server a quick thank you and then went back to the topic at hand.

”Whatever we come up with, we need to make sure we run it by Delilah herself. She gets REALLY bent out of shape about being excluded, so let’s plan to include her before we execute any plan.”

She added, and then she speared a couple of blackberries with her fork and ate them as Cameron discussed Alexis Quartermaine and wanting to talk to her, to see where she was ‘at’. Haleigh scoffed gently.

”Yeah, good luck with that babe. She doesn’t want to talk, but I can tell you where she’s at. She hates everyone for the whole statue thing, not that I can really blame her. Having experienced the horror of being under my mother’s complete control personally, I think we might’ve overreacted to Alexis’ quote-unquote betrayal at the time. I imagine I’d be pretty pissed if I spent a dozen or so years trapped in stone for the misfortune of Malice choosing me as her first Six puppet.”

Ava had spat at Cameron that maybe she didn’t want to fix her relationship with him. She wanted him to feel a string of pain because he was pissing her off, and his hard expression that resulted gave her a moment of satisfaction. But soon, Haleigh arrived, immediately sitting down and ordering a coffee as 'black as her soul'. She saw Cameron smirk at that, causing Ava to roll her eyes and softly scoff out. So it was okay that his wife had a dark side, but it was inexcusable if she did. Noted. Stabbing a piece of fruit in her bowl, Haleigh then asked about Brenthon and if she had seen him yet. Confirming as much, she admitted she was surprised to find out that he was still alive.

Haleigh: ”You really find it all that hard to believe? How many people do we know that have actually stayed dead? Victims of the Soul Sword are all that comes to mind. Everybody else comes back in one way or another.”

Giving a half shrug, Ava nodded, agreeing.

"I suppose you're right, but it was still shocking to see someone after thinking they were dead for thirty years. A pleasant shock, but shocking nonetheless."

She went on to explain that she extended the offer to allow Brenthon to stay at Blackwell until he adjusted to his new life. Haleigh gave her approval saying that he was supposed to stay at the Sactum with Morgan, causing Ava to raise a single brow. That would have been a giant mess considering how much Morgan couldn't stand anyone of the opposite sex.

Haleigh: "Plus it’s not a very hospitable place. When I first arrived, the house put me into some kind of illusion involving my fucking mother. What a welcoming party, am I right?”

Scrunching her nose at that, Ava put her fork down and pushed her untouched bowl of fruit forward indicating she was done.

"Glad I missed that welcome party."

Cameron then decided to switch topics to Delilah, mentioning how she seemed happier with Gavin, but wishing they could somehow bring Alexia back. Ava nodded, agreeing with him on that.

Haleigh: ”Unfortunately no matter how many times I suggest it, Delilah doesn’t like the idea of suppressing Alexia’s powers.

"I may have a solution to that."

Finishing her Americano, Ava took the napkin off her lap and placed it on top of her food before crossing her legs and sitting back in her chair.

"When I was catching up with Brenthon earlier, we discussed Limbo and Alexia. He suggested that he could help her control her powers enough to return to Earth and be around Delilah without hurting her. Their powers are very similar in nature, and because of his time spent in Limbo, he's seen various versions of Alexia....some not so favorable. I understand that the two of you have just met him, but he has no ill intentions toward Alexia, he actually cares about her. He wants to help her get out of Limbo so he doesn't have to see her become....a shell of herself."

Ava hesitated before saying the last part, realizing the parallels between herself and the versions of Alexia Brenthon had told her about. She didn't want Alexia to be alone...to feel nothing because feeling nothing was better than being overwhelmed with pain.

Haleigh: ”Whatever we come up with, we need to make sure we run it by Delilah herself. She gets REALLY bent out of shape about being excluded, so let’s plan to include her before we execute any plan.”

"After we speak to Delilah about this, I can introduce Brenthon to her."

Delilah would obviously be wary of someone she doesn't know trying to train her daughter to control her powers, any mother would be. But Ava hoped that Delilah would trust her enough to know she would never let anyone near Alexia that would hurt her.

Cameron: "Alexia has reminded me of...Alexis Quartermaine. I know we've been keeping tabs on her, but is there any news. After everything that's happened, I would kind of like to see her. Talk to her, see where's she at. But I know that's shooting for the moon..."

Ava kept her mouth shut on that topic. She wasn't around when Alexis was apart of The Six, and subsequently what happened to her during her time on the team. Her relationship with Alexis was more based of her interaction with Mystique, but even then, the level of hatred Alexis expressed toward The Six was off the charts. Haleigh agreed, saying that they 'may' have overreacted to Alexis' betrayal all those years ago and her being cast to stone. Ava gave a 'you think' look as she gestured to the server to get her another espresso martini.

"I reached out to Alexis after the old regime was destroyed, offering her a position in the Inner Circle. She declined. She doesn't want anything to do with Hellfire or The Six. She only seemed focus on finding Helena and killing her. But, that was also seven months ago, I haven't spoken to her since."

The server handed Ava her martini, immediately she took a sip.

"But I doubt her mind has changed."

Hellfire - Blackwell's - Great Hall

Haleigh:
"Plus it's not a very hospitable place. When I first arrived, the house put me into some kind of illusion involving my fucking mother. What a welcoming party, am I right?"

Ava: "Glad I missed that welcome party."

"Yeah I have no plans to visit...and Alison still hasn't reached out to me.."

His mind went to his sister for a moment. There had been nothing wrong between them. They had been on a good path for quite some time now. But for whatever reason, she had removed herself from his life. He knew she was mourning Nicolas, but it was getting to be borderline ridiculous. He felt bad for her. He knew eventually that placing herself on that island would eventually turn her into one herself, but he had been hopeful that he would be included as part of her circle, as Ava and Morgan were. It hurt to realize that he wasn't. More than he was going to say to either his wife or his sister-in-law. What they were going through was more important, and more timely.

Thankfully, they didn't dwell as the conversation moved over towards Delilah and Alexia and the desire to reunite the two. Something, it seemed all three of them had agreed with. Haleigh spoke of Delilah not wanting to supress her daughter's powers, to which Cameron agreed. And he couldn't help but to feel a swell of pride at Haleigh's mention of them being Alexia's godparents. Cameron always knew he would be a good father, but the idea of ever bringing children into this kind of world was something he just couldn't settle within himself. And the only person he could ever see bringing a child into the world with for all intents and purposes, just physically couldn't. But that didn't bother Cameron. Haleigh was enough for him. And he had every intention on spoiling the fuck out of Alexia and making any man who ever intended on acting as a father to her incredibly uncomfortable.

Haleigh: "So, if I stroke Morgan's ego enough, we might be able to get her to agree Alexia can at LEAST be brought into our realm. The issue is that she's still pretty resentful of Delilah for being resentful of HER making decisions without Lilah's input. So that's a challenge, but I think it can be done. I've made a lot of progress with Morgan personally lately."

Cameron was dealing with the revelation that Haleigh was Morgan's sister just fine for the most part, but he was still cautious. There was no way that Morgan would not eventually use that to attempt to manipulate Haleigh, and his mind's eye had seen that she was in fact, already attempting to do so. Cameron enjoyed the relationship Haleigh had with Ava. That was sisterly. Whatever Blaze and Morgan had...was something deeply rooted in trauma and something he in no way shape or form wanted hoisted on his wife. And he also, too...knew what it was like to have a sister that was never going to be what he wanted or needed.

"Well...I will leave that to you, Hales. I don't have the patience for it anymore. Alexia isn't Morgan's child. And if she doesn't want to be a willing participant in reuniting a mother with her child, a child she took...then there's gonna be a fucking problem..."

Haleigh: "Whatever we come up with, we need to make sure we run it by Delilah herself. She gets REALLY bent out of shape about being excluded, so let's plan to include her before we execute any plan.?

Ava: "I may have a solution to that. When I was catching up with Brenthon earlier, we discussed Limbo and Alexia.

He really did not like hearing about the idea of realities of Alexia being raised in Limbo. Of there being "bad" outcomes for her. In fact it enraged him. But there was no sense in getting mad in what had yet to happen or happened in another timeline. Because he was sure in multiple timelines, they had likely all betrayed and killed each other. The White King took a long sip form his bloody mary and sighed.

"Look, personally? I feel like the last thing she needs to know is that there is an Alexia out there grew up in Limbo. She'll trust Brenthon just about as much as she trusts Morgan. But all we can do is present her with options and let her choose. Whatever happens next...for Delilah and Alexia...has to be HER choice. Haleigh is right. In fact...she should have been at this brunch. But I'll be damned if I can't help but feeling like she is actually better off without us lately...."

He paused for a moment before looking at Ava.

"But if you trust Brenthon, I do too. Delilah wants to be in the loop...he's part of that loop. It's not worth hiding from her...I just...."

He realized that keeping his feelings in, keeping his perspective to himself, especially when it came to Delilah, did nobody any favors. He had blind spots when it came to her, because he loved her in a way that he didn't love the others. She was more than just blood, or sister to him. She was something different altogether. But he felt for Delilah as strongly as he felt for Haleigh, just in a different way. And he had been by her side when they weren't, even if it wasn't intentional, or even actually possible at that point.

"I spent a year...taking care of her...literally. Bathing her. Brushing her hair. Making sure she ate. Making sure she was...alive. I have to defer to both of you...because I don't know that I will ever be able to see things objectively when it comes to her safety...or well being.."

His mind raced back only for a moment, to those days. Because he couldn't dare to ever "live" there again. In his entire life, he had never been more scared. Never felt more helpless. She was a shell. A vegetable. This woman who had been so protective of him. So there for him. To see her like that. Of how he spent every waking moment with her, seeing and experiencing the totality of her pain without being able to fix it. It had changed Cameron entirely as a human being. And while there were great benefits from that, there were also...incredible hindrances. He would not be able to survive another round. And he promised himself that no matter what happened, no matter if she ended up hating him for it, that if he could spare her from ever again getting to the place that place, he would do it. It was ironic because it was that very thing that helped him be a bridge between Delilah and Morgan and Alison.

Thankfully, yet again he was able to steer the conversation in a different direction, this time towards Alexis Quartermaine. The last thing he remembered before "dying" was her arrival at Hellfire, the revelation she had been there for quite some time, and the fact that she hated all of them and was only back to get revenge on Helena. None of it sat right with him and he said as much.

Haleigh: ”Yeah, good luck with that babe.

The time he had spent on The Other Side and The Further had been illuminating to say the least. It was there he had learned that he hadn't been dropped off at a church as an infant, but that he had spent the first ten years of his life with his mother and his sisters. And that he was starting to have flashes of a blonde woman in all white getting him to guess what was on the backs of cards she was holding when he was just barely more than a toddler. That he was fairly sure that he had in fact been the first Six puppet. But when he came back, Rampage was dead, his wife was broken...most of The Six was broken, and the trauma of his life had taken up enough space in The Six. He had put them through so much. This was his time to be the hero. To be the support they had been for him.

"And we are all too smart now to believe that time heals all wounds..."

He hadn't been around for Alexis' supposed betrayal. In fact, he had fled the team and his life in general. Morgan had declared war on him, using Alycia Barnett as her pit bull to bring charges against him. To destroy him. Because she blamed him for The Inferno. His sister was trying to brow beat him into submission, and he had been a very weak man. So he fled. Left the country and fucked off for months until he was captured by Erika and Diana, tortured, killed, and then subsequently captured by Barbas. It was not his best year. But Alexis had been his friend. Sometimes his only friend on the team. Sometimes more than his friend. In fact, he was sure that had Haleigh not been returned to them by fate after The Inferno, they would have fallen in love. They were right at the cusp. When he returned to the team, and learned what happened to her, he had never forgiven himself. Had he not ran, he could have helped her. He could have prevented Malice and Helena from doing what they did.

"We owe it to her to reach out."

Ava: "I reached out to Alexis after the old regime was destroyed, offering her a position in the Inner Circle. She declined. She doesn't want anything to do with Hellfire or The Six. She only seemed to focus on finding Helena and killing her. But, that was also seven months ago, I haven't spoken to her since. But I doubt her mind has changed."

He furrowed his brow.

"She's a founding member of The Six. Delilah named her daughter in honor of her. Whatever path she's trying to walk...as much as I want to let her walk it..I can't. She needs us. Because she isn't going to get revenge. Not in the way she wants...I think the three of us know that. We have to try and start building a safety net for her."

[pausing]

"It's been a long time...but we have to start thinking about reconstituting The Six. What that looks like. What we want going forward. I'm just afraid if we don't talk about it soon...it will never happen."

Gavin was enjoying this blissful morning, snuggling with Delilah and debating who was going to cook breakfast. Except for his distracting erection, which despite his assurance, was not going away. It probably didn’t help that she was on top of him, smiling and laughing at his lame jokes. He offered her a drawer to keep things in, for future staying-the-nights, hint hint. She was so pleased with that she kissed him, so he knew he was on the right track. It was reassuring after the small quarrel he’d inadvertently gotten them into the night before.

Since they’d completely reconciled from that misunderstanding, Gavin decided now was the opportune time to suggest the best way to actually get rid of the morning wood, which was to use it. She was more than willing to oblige, telling him she thought he’d never ask and rolling over to be underneath him. Gavin chuckled softly as he rolled on top, his hands roaming her body.

”Well, I don’t like to presume. I mean, we both saw what a bloody disaster presumption results in last night.”

He replied self-deprecatingly before kissing her neck a bit. She was already so wet, it was difficult to resist rushing in. He pressed just the tip in a bit and then pulled back, lifting his head to gaze down at her, a crooked little smile creeping across his mouth.

”You are so beautiful, you know that? Beautiful and sexy and incredible, it’s enough to make a man stupid, truly. I think that’s what happened, I was struck stupid.”

He said, and then kissed her lips slowly as he pressed himself in a little further. He eased his way in with short strokes, inch by inch. He snaked his arm around the small of her back, pulling her hips as close to his as possible. He dropped his head to kiss her breasts, his other hand finding hers in the mess of bedsheets and he rocked his hips.

Gavin had offered her a drawer at his place, and it felt like they had turned a corner in their relationship. It went a long way to allaying some of the fears she had been having about going too far, about what he was thinking. It was easy to tell what he was thinking right at this particular moment, however, and he suggested they stay in bed a bit longer. She thought he'd never ask.

Gavin: ”Well, I don’t like to presume. I mean, we both saw what a bloody disaster presumption results in last night.”

"Mmmm...let's forget about all that."

She rolled him on top of her, and he teased her a bit, making a whimper escape involuntarily from her lips.

Gavin: ”You are so beautiful, you know that? Beautiful and sexy and incredible, it’s enough to make a man stupid, truly. I think that’s what happened, I was struck stupid.”

Her hands grasped his back needily, wanting him closer.

"There is no one else I want to be with."

He kissed her gently and worked his way slowly inside her, pulling her hips closer against him, his mouth on her breasts. Somehow the thing that nearly sent her over the edge was when he grasped her hand with his.

She whispered his name as he moved inside her, her thighs gripping him tightly. Her free hand moved to the side of his face, bringing his mouth up to hers, kissing him passionately. He made her feel so good, not just sexually, but emotionally. When she was with him, she just wanted more. She clutched his hand tightly, her breath hitching as she came, the release spreading out to every inch of her body. She kept her mouth on his, squeezing him inside her.

"Harder..." she moaned against his lip, ready to come again when he did.

Cameron: "Look, personally? I feel like the last thing she needs to know is that there is an Alexia out there grew up in Limbo. She'll trust Brenthon just about as much as she trusts Morgan. But all we can do is present her with options and let her choose. Whatever happens next...for Delilah and Alexia...has to be HER choice. Haleigh is right. In fact...she should have been at this brunch. But I'll be damned if I can't help but feeling like she is actually better off without us lately...."

Ava partially agreed with Cameron in regards to Delilah and Alexia. She didn't think they should keep anything regarding the situation from Delilah considering how well that went over the last time. They needed to present her with everything and let her decide the best course of action for herself and her daughter. At least the three of them were all in agreement about that, and if for whatever reason Morgan, Alison, and Blaze decided to pose a problem, they would be dealt with. Then Cameron said something that made Ava lower her eyes to her espresso martini, recalling her meeting with Delilah in Central Park. She did seem better without all of them. Truth be told, she deserved a life outside of all the bullshit, drama, chaos, and danger above any of them. She deserved to be happy with her daughter and Gavin, if that was the man she intended to be with. Meeting with her in the park, seeing the levity in her eyes, the spark back within them after it being gone for so long, it made Ava truly happy for her. They needed to bring her daughter back, then Delilah could live the life she deserved.

Cameron: "But if you trust Brenthon, I do too."

Ava's eyes lifted to meet with Cameron's, taken aback that he trusted her judgement call about Brenthon. It was a far cry from the arguments they had been having with one another lately. She held his gaze for a moment longer before blinking her line of sight back down to her martini.

Cameron: "Delilah wants to be in the loop...he's part of that loop. It's not worth hiding from her...I just....I spent a year...taking care of her...literally. Bathing her. Brushing her hair. Making sure she ate. Making sure she was...alive. I have to defer to both of you...because I don't know that I will ever be able to see things objectively when it comes to her safety...or well being.."

She was silent for a moment, knowing what happened to Delilah was incredibly rough on both Cameron and Haleigh. However she also knew Haleigh would rather be in the forefront of this situation than take a back seat, so she spoke for them both, her voice far more gentle than it has been when directed at Cameron.

"We'll handle it."

The conversation moved on from one trauma to the next, this time Alexis Quartermaine. Both she and Haleigh confirmed that Alexis had no desire to ever involving herself with The Six, but Cameron didn't want to hear any of it.

Cameron: "She's a founding member of The Six. Delilah named her daughter in honor of her. Whatever path she's trying to walk...as much as I want to let her walk it..I can't. She needs us. Because she isn't going to get revenge. Not in the way she wants...I think the three of us know that. We have to try and start building a safety net for her."

Shaking her head.

"She doesn't want our help, Cameron. You can't force someone to accept it."

Ava's words more personal than intended. Placing her barely touched espresso martini down on the table, she pushed it away indicating she was done with it. She propped her elbow on the edge of the table, letting her forehead rest onto her fingers. She gently rubbed above her brow, feeling a headache coming on.

Cameron: "It's been a long time...but we have to start thinking about reconstituting The Six. What that looks like. What we want going forward. I'm just afraid if we don't talk about it soon...it will never happen."

"Maybe we need to admit to ourselves that The Six is done...Alison is a hermit, your sisters [her tone sharper than intended] are locking themselves away in a magickal sanctuary, Delilah's trying to move on with her life the best she can, and we're [gesturing with the hand that was on her forehead] having brunch at Hellfire as their current regents."

Ava softly scoffed, not in anger, not in frustration, but in sadness at how far their team had fallen.

"How can we reconstitute something that's been left in ruins?"

In a word, she was brilliant. Actually, there were many words that came to Gavin’s mind with regards to this radiant woman in his bed. He told her some of what he was thinking, that she was beautiful and sexy and incredible, that she was stupifying. He told her these things, as he brought them together again. He began to kiss her, her mouth, her breasts, her neck. She told him that there was no one else she wanted to be with. He found her hand with his, and then he lifted his head to look into her eyes.

”Nor I.”

He replied quickly, moving his hips more urgently. The back of his brain buzzed with the idea that it might be that simple, that they might have just agreed to be exclusive, but there was no way he was going to stop right this moment for clarification. Not while he was making love to her. They might not have said the words to each other yet, but then Gavin often bumbled with words, which made him a bit gun-shy about trying to articulate how he felt. She had said she’d love to go to a wedding with him, that she’d love a drawer at his apartment, but not that she loved him. And yet, that was okay. He would be content with the status quo, given how tremendous it all was. She grasped his face and kissed him. He groaned in pleasure.

“I…. Love….”

He worked words in between kisses.

”How tight you are….”

He added, and then she moaned for him to go harder, which threatened to finish him right then and there. His left hand moved from her waist to hook inside her right knee and hike her leg up a bit higher.

“As you wish.

He replied eagerly, thrusting himself into her more aggressively. She felt so good, he wanted it to last forever. He kissed her hungrily for a while longer, until he felt he would explode, and he couldn’t control it. He came hard and hot, driving as deeply as he could. Then he slowed to a stop, and rolled to be underneath her again, so he didn’t have to pull away from her to lay down and relax. He stroked her skin while he waited for his heart rate to settle, and was at such peace that he almost slipped back asleep. The thing that roused him was his stomach growling. He smiled at himself.

”Right, breakfast.”

He said, and kissed her forehead as he eased himself out of bed. He pulled on a pair of shorts and grabbed a bathrobe to offer her.

”I usually just make a cuppa tea, but I can have coffee brought up from the cafe down the block if you like. And do you want ham, eggs and cheese, or do you fancy sausage in your muffin?”
