Alternate Ava

The feeling's mutual Ava. And you won't be leading ME anywhere. You both are mentally compromised.

"Fuck you, King. And the high horse you rode in on you arrogant PIG."

:: Ava's eyes flashed black with anger as she viciously responded to him. Right THERE, THAT was the Nicolas who killed Morgan. The arrogant smirk...the 'what are you going to do about it' look in his eyes. The holiar than thou stance. It made Ava's skin crawl...and at that point, it took everything Ava had NOT to attack him right there and then. Looking over at Delilah who tried to defuse the situation, she mentioned not wanting Victoria to loose even more loved ones. Ava understood her point, so she spoke in a less harsh tone. ::

"We [Alison and herself] will be fine. Victoria won't be burying anymore loved ones...not today."

:: At that point, Alison finally had enough and demanded that everyone leave and meet up at Illustra in an hour. Glancing over at Haleigh who asked where they should go, considering they're now portraying their alternates in this timeline. ::

"The pool house...you can stay there if you must."

:: It probably wasn't exactly what Alison had in mind, BUT atleast it was outside of the mansion giving everyone their space for the time being. ::

Alternate Alison

:: Alison looked at Haleigh...and for a moment, Haleigh could see an almost "SOFTENING" in those unforgiving cobalt blue eyes. she looked so different with the blonde hair, the cutting edge leather ensemble...but while she was striking on the outside, the damage on the INSIDE could be seen in that brief moment. the marble hard heart that she was known for had cracked long ago and there was no sign of healing or repair in her OR Ava. it was something ALL the mainstreams she take note of.::

Black Widow said:
We came HERE because we have no one ELSE we can trust."

Funny...we thought we could trust you...or rather your alternate...and you :: it was difficult for Alison to keep distinguishing everytime she spoke.::, like Delilah prooved to be inexplicably sympathetic to that murdering asshole. We suspected he may have telepathically coerced Delilah, but then again she was always weak in the knees for men who were ASSHOLES [Bishop]. But YOU...we thought better of you...you were there from the start and when Morgan died...when Karen KILLED Nicolas in return...we thought you'd HELP US. we were going to go underground TOGETHER ...leave the country with Victoria and try to heal...TOGETHER somewhere else. But YOU...you just HAD to go to his FUNERAL! you just HAD to WASTE TIME mourning a KILLER while Delilah was too busy bending over backwards to please RILEY by making example of Karen!

:: she looks around the room.::

We tried to keep the team together at first...but the shock...the reaction from everyone around us, the media, the public...it just prooved to be TOO MUCH. we HAD to split apart for our safety but we thought that Haleigh and Delilah would LEAVE with us. Haleigh...she abandonned us...she cared more about the KILLER than she did Karen, Victoria OR us...and Delilah...I shouldve just BLOWN HER UP the moment i found out she was with Bishop after he attempted to assassinate SHARON. It was HALEIGH that always prooved to be the voice of reason...

:: she looked back at Haleigh.::

you may stay...:: Ava referred them to the pool house::...but HE is not to go anywhere NEAR Victoria...and NEITHER IS SHE :: pointing with contempt at Delilah::

Sharon will be here soon, so please...just go into the rooms and stay there.

Nicolas simply stood and took it. Haleigh turned to rebuke him, but he knew why and so he said nothing further. At this point he was only too undone at all that had occurred, and so he barely listened as they wheeled and dealed. At least until Alison ordered that he not have contact with Victoria. His head was spinning enough, and simply hearing her name again tore him in two. His jaw dropped a bit in genuine pain as he took a step back, the realization that something so amazing was torn from his grasp so suddenly, and it was his alternate's own fault. He did not know his own parents, and now Victoria would only know her mother from stories, and her father as a murdering monster.

The pain that mentally radiated out was not physical. It was the mourning of a young man who had simply sunk into despair. Mike would weather it easily enough as it was a phase of Nicolas' mourning when his father died, but the others...Ava and Delilah would feel an OVERWHELMING sorrow, a psychic wail for what had been lost here, for what he feared would never happen in his own time. They will not be able to resist tears. Even Haleigh would not be unmoved, and while Alison would be protected form the more overwhelming aspects of its effect, it would be as strong an assault on her psi-shield as she has ever experienced, a pressing that could not be ignored.

Maybe MY Alison was right. Maybe happiness would never be my lot.

Nicolas simply looked to the ground, preferring an angle where the ladies before him would not see his tears well in his eyes...

Mike moved quickly to Nicolas as he felt the sadness pour from him. He turned to the pair of women as he threw an arm around the mutant, his lip nearly quivering as he shared Nicolas' sadness.

Very well then. Let's move, people. Quickly. I will see what I can do to help him.

Ava:Victoria won't be burying anymore loved ones...not today.

"Ava, you can be absolutely certain that we will do everything within our power to INSURE that she won't. We ARE on your side. I know it is difficult to overcome your instinctive mistrust of us.... but we WANT to help. And we NEED.... you to trust us, even if it's only a little."

Alison began to respond to Haleigh.... and the hybrid could see through the cracks of Alison's facade. As severe as she looked, as cold as she tried to BE, Haleigh could see that Alison was a woman marked by grief, her emotional psyche long since in disrepair. Alison filled them all in on what happened to the Six in this timeline.... and Haleigh had access to her OWN alternate's memory to supplement what Alison told them.... and she tried to help Alison and Ava understand... maybe it would give them a little more confidence.

"I am certain Haleigh is sorry she let you down. Her memory archives indicate that she never wanted to disappoint you, but for her, it was difficult to determine how to react. She felt what YOUR Nicolas had done was inexcusable, she was shocked and appalled by his actions, but she couldn't stop herself from being saddened by his death. [pausing] Do you remember when your brother died? Cameron's flaws were well-known by all, but in death, we gloss over that. We tend to remember the GOOD about a person. Cam frustrated you to no end, and he did some pretty awful things but you still MOURNED him... because he was your brother and you loved him. It was like that for Haleigh with your Nicolas. She could never condone or excuse his crimes.... she still searched for some kind of explanation... and, despite the bad, when he was killed, she was STILL devastated with the loss of the man SHE knew him to BE. It was a difficult time for everyone.... Haleigh had been struggling to be what YOU needed, what Karen needed, what her sister needed her to be.... and in trying to hold her family together, she didn't have it in her to tell you all that SHE NEEDED to mourn him. She was confused by pain and unable to understand WHY it had happened.... but she HAD loved Nicolas.... as Morgan loved him. When you, Ava, and Karen did not understand, when you ostracized her, and as everything fell apart, she withdrew... she retreated in self defense. She would have come back if she thought you'd accept her.... but it seems she realized the ONLY person she could depend on, the only person she could truly TRUST was herself. I imagine that it was the same for EVERY ONE of you. Delilah fell back on HER beliefs and found solace in Bishop, Mike was cast out and had such limited choices.... it's clear he did the best he could.... and YOU did. You and Ava took Victoria and made yourselves scarce.... and ever since, every one involved has been JUST scraping by.... SHELLS of the amazing people they once were."

Haleigh finished. There was a heavy silence among them... and then Alison finally relented to let them stay, in the pool house. Haleigh slowly stood and nodded, agreeing that neither Nicolas nor Delilah were to see Victoria under any circumstances.

"Certainly. Please tell Victoria where we are and that you wish her not to try and contact them. We thank you for your hospitality.... and promise not to disturb you anymore. When you're ready.... we'll be waiting for you. [turning to her comrades and ushering them to follow her]Delilah, boys..... let's go now."

Haleigh paused, then handed her alternate sister a small device with a screen. It looked like a 15th generation iPhone, sleek and complex at the same time.

"In case..... you want to check up on us. I'll be keeping an eye on you."

She said, then led her companions downstairs and out to the pool house without so much as a wrong turn. Nicolas was saddened beyond belief... and with such DEPTH.... that even though Haleigh could not reach her emotional core.... she knew that what he was feeling was terrible and she wished there was something she could do for him.

As Delilah turned to go, she was suddenly struck by a wave of extreme sadness radiating from Nicolas. She walked over the where Nicolas leaned on Mike and stopped, facing him.

"She's not YOUR daughter, Nicolas. This isn't our world."

Then she moved to the opposite side of him from Mike, and took his arm.

a moment to reflect

<< as bad as things got for the mainstreams, their time ALWAYS managed to get through their issues TOGETHER, even if they had to pull apart for a breather, they came BACK together. in THIS reality, they saw just how violently their family could be torn apart. Morgan was dead. Alison and Ava were like "Dead sisters walking", Karen was about to be executed, Nicolas was the ultimate villain in this timeline and dead as well while Haleigh was a recluse and Delilah and Mike were outcasts from their former team mates, their family.>>

<< the mainstreams had no choice but to reflect on what they'd experienced in their alternate's bodies as they now somberly moved to the pool house. Alternate Alison and Ava were planning a desperate rescue attempt for Karen and it was clear to the mainstreams that failure wasnt an option. Ororo had told them that while IN a timestream they COULD do something to alter the outcome if it was possible....and this seemed like as good a time as ANY to "get involved" but so much damage had already been done as Nicolas himself could see, it was hard for him NOT to feel like HE was the one...and not his Alternate that was the ultimate bastard here. Delilah was not much better off either, and as the mainstream delilah pondered the possibility that her alternate had been TELEPATHICALLY COERCED by that Nicolas, it REMINDED her just WHY some of her mainstream team mates didnt trust Nicolas on a subconscious level. >>

<< they only had an hour to rest, to THINK...and to PREPARE, but it was a desperately needed break from the presence of a broken, unforgiving Alison and Ava. Victoria watched them from high above in the attic, until they saw her being lead away by her aunts, and the shutters SLAMMED closed. Despite Nicolas' feelings, Victoria was off limits.>>

<< however, the mainstreams would get another visitor...one they'd already seen earlier...but this time, she would be a little less hostile and even provide some much needed INSIGHT.>>

<< TINKERBELL was perched on a stone bench in the garden outside of the pool house. but after a few moments, she was gone from that spot, and was now INSIDE the pool house, in one of the rooms...sitting there, starring at all of the mainstreams...with a curious glint in her blue eyes. the now older siamese was not as fussy or violent as she was earlier, but she still showed signs of uncertainty. they would all remember that Tink could show images...visions, much like the scrying glass. it was one of her gifts as an enchanted familiar. perhaps SHE would show them what happened to Morgan , to Nicolas, or even Karen's current condition.>>

meanwhile:

<< after decompressing a bit, and using their abilities to clean up damage in the mansion, the alternate ava and alison were now talking with Victoria, they didnt berate her or scold her. they knew she didnt mean harm, that she didnt quite understand. they only wanted her to understand NOW why they had to leave her for a little while. they were going to rescue her grams and then they'd all be together...as happy a family as they could be. after they talked with the girl and settled her into another room of the mansion along with the now grown "Kitten" laying by her in the bed, the witch and the goddess were back in the attic, going over last minute details, gathering potions, maps and Alison taking in a few more spells she might need for the trip to the high tech prison.>>

Delilah sunk down into a cushy sofa with a sigh.

"Oh, that went well."

She covered her face with her hands. So much new information to process, and none of it made a whole lot of sense. She supposed she should be comforted by the fact that her alternate might have been coerced into doing what she did, but she wasn't. She still felt horrible, like she had done those things, after such brutal treatment by people she liked to think of as her friends. This must be what Haleigh feels like all the time.

And Nicolas, coming apart at the seams. Meanwhile, what did his alternate's actions say about he HIMSELF? She didn't even want to THINK about that and pushed it from her mind.

She removed her hands from her face as if she was playing "peek-a-boo" and looked at the others.

"So, what do we do? We can't let them try to rescue Karen alone. And even if we could - let's not forget Mike and I are supposed to BE at the execution."

She noticed Tink sitting there, staring at them. She spoke, as if to the cat.

"Where's a stepping disc when you need one?"

Alternate Alison

:: Alison stood, in an old full length mirror in the attic, still wearing her severe and sexy Dolce & Gabanna leather ensemble composed of the tailored "military" jacket, the backless halter and the skirt, along with her high heels. she was tying up her now blonde hair into a sleek, stylish bun.::

we're taking the risk of our lives, Ava. But maybe....maybe with the temporal alternate's help...we can succeed.

:: she turned back to Ava.::

ever since i began planning this daring prison break, I've been seeing visions...premonitions that I would fail, that karen would still BURN and that they'd come after you and Victoria....I was prepared to unleash the deadliest spell...the "power of shadow" [ava would remember Darkchilde AUTHORING that spell in the MoE timeline, it was one of those primal spells that appeared in EVERY incarnation of the Darkhold across the timelines with the Dark Trinity and only the most powerfull of witches or magickal beings could ignite it] to destroy EVERYTHING in the prison before i saw them spill out and come after you two, even if Karen and I didnt survive.

I know its insane...but after losing so much...I'm so weary...i sometimes don't want to go on anymore.

:: ONE good thing about all of this, about the alternates coming here and causing the stir that they did was that Alison was now TALKING to Ava, sharing MORE of her self and her feelings aboutthis whole ordeal, something she hadnt hardly done for 10 years.::

I still don't like the idea of your coming....We can trust Sharon of course. She's got plenty enough power to get Victoria out of here if need be, but if...if I didnt make it, at least Victoria would still have you.. Y ou could tell her stories about her mother....introduce her to Ororo...all the things that Morgan....will never get to do.

:: she partially zipped up her leather jacket, and adjusted it a bit...with some potions now hidden inside of it. she walked over to the table where the map of the prison lay.::

I dont like the idea of THEM being involved either...but as a tactician...at least a former one....I can't deny the obvious logic and BENEFIT of their presence.

Nicolas walked with the others to the pool house. He spoke quietly to Delilah after they were alone, the four of them. His voice was barely a whisper.

You're absolutely right, D. She is not MY daughter, not specifically. But her DNA IS half-mine, and I can FEEL her now, where she is. My mind...it can now sense her, two telepathic spheres of influence that are now acquainted. She is not of MY timeline, but she is as much a part of me as any child I may one day have.

The young mutant sat quickly, his legs folding up under him as he levitated...he was nearly babbling at this point, experiencing what would have been a joy for him under better circumstances, but was instead the cruelest of jokes.

Did you see? Beautiful...will be STRONG, strong as me, at least 6'2", can probably match Hales in armwrestling now...needs her Daddy, a daddy, don'tallgirlsdeservetheirdaddyDelilah?....................sorry, I need to get it together.

Nicolas got quiet very quickly, and simply stared ahead blankly. It looked doubtful that he would speak or move again anytime soon.

:: After the alternates left for the pool house, Ava was still a bit light headed from Nicolas' emotional 'serge'. Sitting in an old victorian chair, Ava rested her head back and kept her eyes focused on Alison. It had been so long since the precog had opened up to her about Morgan's death. Not wanting to inturrupt her, she just stayed quiet until she finally expressed what she had been feeling...the uncertainty, the fear of Victoria being left alone. Everything that Ava KNEW Alison was feeling but didn't share. ::

"Alison, listen to me. When we were 'the six' we were strong....a powerful force that people respected. We know our abilities. We know our strengths. And as much as I hate to admit it....we have a far better chance working alongside the alters than by ourselves. [standing up, Ava walked over to Alison] Whether we go in there alone or with them [alternates] neither one of us will be dying, do you understand me? You will be here to tell Victoria about her mother...pass down stories that would make her proud to be Morgan's daughter. We will watch her grow into the beautiful, intellegent, powerful woman AND witch that we both know she'll become. We've prevented your 'premonitions' from happening in the past, we can do it again."

:: It was obvious this timelines Ava had taken the motherly role, something that was the complete polar opposite of the mainstream Ava. With Alison in such withdrawl after Morgan's death Ava had become the glue that kept their family together, and she'd be damned if anything happened to them now. She was still reluctant to work alongside of alternate Nicolas....but the alternate Haleigh seemed to trust him...and in some strange way, Ava in turn, seemed to trust Haleigh. ::

:: Overlooking the map that Alison was reviewing, Ava sighed out. ::

"I do trust this alternate Haleigh....it might be a ridiculously stupid move on my part but I do.."

Haleigh led the others into the poolhouse. Nicolas was approaching a complete mental breakdown, Mike was so preoccupied he couldn't even speak, and Delilah was understandably feeling defeated about their first interaction with the Alternates. Haleigh turned to stand in the bay window facing the main house.... she watched Victoria being led away, the shutters closing behind her.... and Haleigh followed the three Alternates with her gaze as she responded to Delilah.

"It could have been worse, Delilah."

She says. Her back is to Delilah, but the hybrid's face can faintly be seen in reflection on the window, and her expression is one of serious contemplation.

"Don't worry.... they aren't going to attempt a rescue on their own. Alternate Alison, despite her broken, tortured emotional state, is far too sensible to turn down the help.... and both her AND Alternate Ava trust me. You and Mike SHOULD go to the execution as planned..... if you don't show, it will cause quite a stir and we ought to keep up pretenses as long as we are able.... the Alternate's shouldn't miss either of you... and with you both RIGHT there.... you can STALL if necessary."

Haleigh replied, still watching the alternates as they moved on from talking with Victoria to prepping for the breakout. Nicolas began a downward spiral into a dark place.... and Haleigh looked over her shoulder at him, her brow furrowed. She broke away from the window and went over to him, placing a hand on either side of his face, forcing him to look at her.

"Nicolas.... her daddy is gone. He CANT be there for her and that's PROBABLY a GOOD THING. What I need YOU to accept is that you CANNOT take his place or fill in for him. THIS timeline's Victoria is not MEANT to have a father. Maybe someone will be a positive father figure for her.... maybe they won't. there is NOTHING we can do about it. What we CAN DO is save Karen from execution, and I NEED YOU to pull your SHIT TOGETHER and HELP, or there MAY be no hope for her [Karen]. Can you do that for me?"

Mike had grown very quiet throughout this past few minutes of th is process. He was analyzing what was going on, thinking of what to do and what the implications were for their own time in terms of what had been seen, and as Haleigh appealed to Nicolas, he spoke, placing a hand gently on her shoulder.

No worries, Haleigh. He is suffering, and rightly so. It's not every day you experience an apocalyptic reality starring you as the main villain. It's probably worse to think that in the end no one believed in you, no one was shocked or seemed to strongly question what happened except alternate Haleigh. But he has NEVER failed to answer the bell when this team needed him, and today will be no different.

Mike walked back over towards Delilah.

Haleigh, please keep them away from him. No matter who did what, what he is getting from them is real, and the consequences of it are lasting.
You are right, we probably should be getting back to whatever passes for normal. Nicolas can help us by scanning for correct answers in others we meet, transmitting us clues as to who we know and how to behave.

Nicolas, for his part, looked directly at Haleigh as she spoke to him. He continued looking as Mike spoke to her, and Haleigh would sense a feeling of reassurance from him. He still did not speak, but Haleigh knew that all would be fine when the time came. He slowly unfolded his legs, allowing them to touch the floor as he took his full height, towering over the hybrid. His breathing returned (he had not done so in several minutes), and he simply waited for whatever was next...

Haleigh kept her eyes on Nicolas as Mike touched her shoulder, trying to reassure her.

"No, it doesn't happen every day..... but it isn't a new experience for ME, either. [referring to the Inferno] And there is NOTHING worse than finding that EVERYONE you THOUGHT had your back turned on you and just accepted that you were a lost cause, and STILL blamed YOU even though you'd OBVIOUSLY lost your mind. [referring to her recent breakdown during the Silver Swan's reappearance]"

She said, maintaining eye contact with Nicolas. He stood up, rising above her a good deal... for while Haleigh was no runt, at 5'7", she was nearly a foot shorter than Nicolas [and most of the women on the team as well]. She let his face go as he stood up, her hands gently releasing him and resting on his chest before she wrapped her arms around his waist, pulling him into a hug she felt he needed.

"I wish you didn't have to go through this, Nic. I wish I had the answer, the explanation for what happened to your Alternate to make him... but most of all... I wish there was something I could say to make the pain subside."

and so

<< Tinkerbell soon departed the chair she was sitting on, slipping out through one of the shadows as Mike and Delilah returned to the high tech holding facility where Karen was being kept. Haleigh and Nicolas were the only ones left in the pool house and soon, Haleigh would spot Silver Swan arriving. This timeline's Sharon looked nearly the same as mainstream, a beautifull woman with a "designer" twist that made her the silver swan courtesy of mystech. her vitals were strong, her powers as well. She was the perfect BODY GUARD (at the least) for Victoria but she was more than that to alternate Alison and Ava. she was a trusted friend and when Morgan died, Sharon took the death very hard. She strangely held back from the urge to attack Nicolas in retaliation...but she no longer welcomed him into her home, her life either.>>

<< In this timeline, after being resurrected by Mystech...Sharon's history was similar to her mainstream counter part BUT in this timeline, after the Six succeeded in freeing her of Riley's evil influence and restoring her as close to her humanity as they could, the Silver Swan rejected membership with the six and went on to be a recognized as a well received solo heroine who was an outspoken ally of the six. She was the champion of women and children (due to her own past and being a mother.) But she also made it her business to bust up any mystech operation she came across, REGARDLESS of whether or not they were federally endorsed. She was ENEMIES with Delilah and Mike as they were now more concerned about the LAW than their friends and she'd often teamed up with Haleigh in underground capers both in America and abroad.>>

<< when the tide turned against witches, Sharon stood by Alison and Karen, and that marked her as an outlaw. she became scarce in the public eye, much like Haleigh but was always there for Alison and Ava whenever they needed her. Little Victoria would often enjoy her silver gryfalcons, Artemis and Antiope and the two large avians seemed to respond to her innocence as well. >>

<< Altnerate Sharon was not yet aware of the presence of the altnernates, and as she landed down in front of the mansion, her two gryfalcons flew onward into the backyard and perched in a large tree over looking the pool house.>>

<< Haleigh might have considered approaching the alternate Sharon at this point, BUT it was almost a sure bet that she would react as badly to Nicolas as Alison and Ava did and with the raw physical power she possessed, containing her would not be easy.>>

<< Sharon went inside to greet and discuss the plan with her friends. the time to leave for Illustra was fast approaching. >>

back at the high tech facility

<< the place was designed to be hard to penetrate and IMPOSSIBLE to escape. the ultimate in power supression technology was employed by the facility, all of it designed by mystech. mutants, witches and metahumans were all vulnerable to it. the guards were all FORCE WORKS agents, the former army commanded by Alycia Barnett who had DISAPPEARED shortly after the trial of Nicolas.>>

<< the place was abuzz with activity, preperation for the televised execution was well underway. the darkened halls and steely, cold feeling did little to soothe Delilah, as she realized that her ALTERNATE would rather be HERE than standing by Alison and Ava in this time of need. Mike, who was Delilah's right hand man, had lost the woman he loved and was now about to watch her be burned at the state. the irony is that in this highly technological age and place, that they would resort to such an ANCIENT form of execution...hardly humane, it was meant to bring as much pain and suffering to the witch and ENTERTAINMENT to the masses....truly barbaric and this is what alternates Delilah and Mike would stand for? very sad.>>

<< with Delilah and Mike back inside, though they were in their alternate's bodies...the sights, the sounds, the FEEL of what they saw was very hard to take for them...they could see cells...some were empty, some had prisoners...mutant, witch, metahuman or the worst of regular humans. there were guards posted or on patrol as well as the ultimate in surveilance technology.>>

<< and NOW that they were THERE...they had an opportunity that few others had....a chance to SEE KAREN in her cell! she was at the BOTTOM of the facility, held in a solitary unit, wearing a power suppression collar. no longer impeccably put together, her hair had grown out, she looked weary and worn in the face...and was wearing grey woman's prison outfit...the warmth, the elegance that she was known for was long gone. all that remained was a cold, unforgiving, unapologetic glint in her sapphire blue eyes. she WASNT SORRY for killing Nicolas. She'd do it AGAIN.>>

Alternate Alison

:: Sharon arrived and was briefed. she expressed her own misgivings, and wanted to go WITH them, but she understood that they needed HER to keep Victoria safe incase of a sudden reprisal or retaliation before they could get back. ::

:: Alison explained the presence of temporal alternates, but PURPOSEFULLY neglected to mention Nicolas. It would be better if as few people connected to this as possible had to hear or see him.::

:: after a time, Sharon looked in on Victoria, who was sleeping. It was now early evening and the time to go was now. Sharon gave Ava and Alison hugs and wished them the BEST of luck and success. she stood in the window watching as Alison and Ava went to retrieve their "guests" from the pool house.::

at the door

:: Alison pauses for a moment..and then opens the door, stepping in. Haleigh will see that she's restyled her hair into a sleek pulled back bun and in the same outfit as before, only with the tailored jacket zipped up slightly. one thing that remained the same...Alison, in ANY timeline, like Morgan, USUALLY went into action wearing high heels that most others would be fearfull to wear. she is ready to depart.::

we're ready. let's go.

:: she says coldly. ignoring Nicolas, and secretly RELIEVED the others arent there. her precognition has already told them where they are.::

Illustra's underground parking lot

:: Alison and Ava stand together, looking at Haleigh only.::

We want to do this fast...we want to get Karen out and get out of the country. Sharon is coming with us. She's the only ally we have left and we're not leaving her behind for the fall out.

:: which meant that alternate haleigh would be left truly alone.::

we have mapped the entire facility and i have an array of potions and spells to back Ava and myself.

Delilah arrived with Mike at the detention facility, feeling very Lando Calrissian at Han Solo's execution. Except this time, as they say, it was personal. And this was the kind of situation Delilah did not exactly enjoy being in - one where she didn't know how she was supposed to act, who she knew, or what to do.

Delilah tried to take everything in as she walked down the hallway, past prisoners in their cells, without seeming like she was looking. These people, they looked so ragged, so defeated. Why were they here? Had they committed any crime at all? Or was their only crime being born special? It was so hard for her to believe that her alternate would be a part of something like this, unless there was a good reason. And she held onto that thought like a life raft - that there must be some good that she was working for in this timeline, something that neither Delilah nor the alternates of Alison and Ava could see.

Her thoughts went to Haleigh back at the pool house. She hoped Haleigh would be able to convince Alison and Ava to take their help - ALL of their help. And Nicolas...his state of mind was a problem. Delilah's logical nature fought hard not to see him as a liability. If he arrived here, and had an episode like he had back at the house, they would all be in big trouble.

She shook herself back to the here and now, taking in the positions of the guards and security cameras, filing everything away for future use. Since in HER New York the death penalty was illegal, she had never presided at an execution. But back in her training days she had observed one in Connecticut. A horrible and difficult thing, even when the accused was guilty. Her stomach lurched as she looked below her and saw Karen, bedraggled, unkempt - and hardened. The sight of Karen so broken steeled her. They must succeed here. For all their sake's.

Nicolas looked at Haleigh tenderly as she rested her hands on his chest, then hugged him. He kissed the top of her head and spoke to her telepathically as he hugged her back..

You have done MORE than enough. Thank you. Let's go do this.

As the pair of women entered, Nicolas did not simply ignore them. For him, they did not exist. He followed Haleigh, silently anticipating whatever she might ask for, waiting for when he would be needed. He had already plucked the map details from Ava's memory and silently relayed them to Haleigh as the precog spoke...

Mike left his teammates as they embraced, confident that if anyone coul reach Nicolas, it would be Haleigh. He traveled to the Supermax prison, amazed at the weaponry on display. Thanks to Nicolas min-games, he realized that the way he was dressed was not particularly unusual, and that he often wore weaponry. As they looke dinto the cells, his breath caught at the sight of Karen Victoria.

She was destroyed, hardly recognizable compared to her former glory. he chewed his cheek until blood came to keep from crying as he watched her just a moment. He got an idea as he stood there, just as Nicolas relayed to them the layout of the facility.

Chief Trelevan, I am going to the armory. Care to join me?
