A Weekend Affair # 2 - The Black Breakfast

The Hellfire Club - Great Hall

John: "Interesting wardrobe choice."

His gaze went over towards John as he eyed him up and down. He had almost immediately attempted to swoop in on Ava and Archer the night before, and then The Black Queen dissappeared, and here he was right by her side again, like a loyal labrador. He was beginning to see a pattern here. But he wasn't bothered. Well maybe a little. This Rook was a bit mouthy for his liking.

Ava: "Playing both sides are we, Archer?"

"Obnoxious, isn't it? My blood may be black, but that doesn't mean my blazer has to be.."

She leaned in and he smelled her body as she did so.

Ava: "be careful, Ashley gets a little protective of her colors."

Archer laughed.

"Good..I could use a bit o' discipline."

Archer's eyes searched for any sign of The Red Queen, but so far he had only seen Alek. Ashley was yet again a separate entity. He knew Alek was a big boy, and he knew a BIT more than the others about their relationship, not that Alek was much of a talker. But everybody's lips got a bit loose when you drank as much as the two kings did together.

"I trust I'm not the only one who found themselves a bit of trouble am I?"

His eyes moved back towards Ava's fine feminine form.

John: "What kind of trouble would that be?"

The Black King was beginning to get a little annoyed at The Black Rook. He knew East London trash when he saw it, because he was East London trash himself. But it was clear they had come from different neighborhoods. He wasn't a man of many words, but they definitely had a hell of a lot of subtext underneath them. And he was picking up on it. This guy had a thing for Ava.

Ava: "It wouldn't be a Hellfire party without a bit of trouble now would it?"

[smirking]

"No. It wouldn't be."

Ava: "Just wait until tonight. The Black Court always throws the best parties."

He grabbed a flute of champagne from one of the servers as he raised a glass towards Ava and her black court in celebration.

"From New York City all the way to London Town."

[taking a sip]

"See? We do have a thing or two in common."

John: "True. Tonight is not to be missed, Mr. Fairchild. Our Queen has prepared something very special indeed."

His gaze floated over Ava's body once more with a cheeky smile.

"She is a very special woman, so I don't doubt it, John."

Archer winked at him for a moment.

"Ya bloody blastard."

Ava: "Very special. Not a fish bowl in sight."

"Heidi will be so dissappointed."

He saw a flurry of people begin to flood into The Great Hall, with most of the red court still noticeably absent. Still, it was rather fun to people watch, see how the others interacted with each other. He watched as Brienne made her way over towards the White Court's part of the table, saying hello to Erika much to his amusement. Brienne hated everybody, and she never had a problem letting anybody know that. To see her play nice with Erika was amusing, especially since she thought she was pulling it off. Wasps were stupid, but entertaining. He looked back over towards the residents at the table.

"So..inquiring minds want to know..what is on the agenda for today? Just breakfast? I mean...I like breakfast as much as the next man, but I was hoping for a little excitement before the evening."

Hellfire Club - Great Hall

Bretta: "OUR Black Court is more rock solid than the American one..."

Daniel cocked an interesting eyebrow. He wasn't sure what Black Court that The Red Queen had been looking at. From what Daniel had gathered, The American Black Court was a force to be reckoned with. His power allowed him to see emotional ties between people and every black court member he had seen thus far seemed to have an undying loyalty towards one another. They were smart, sexy and more importantly a united front. Bretta leaned in closer to him.

Bretta: "Maybe we could use the succubus instead..."

"Aahh...that's it."

Bretta was speaking of The Black Princess, Cassandra Johnson. He had not much interaction with her, but it seemed clear that she was largely absent from the inner workings of her own court, which was a bit odd, but it happened. He had heard she was an appointment from Kelly King, on the heels of her abdicating her crown. She was an outsider, and the Red Queen loved outsiders. Daniel took a sip of his martini as he made sure to watch the social dance the others were engaged in.

"What is you know that I don't, your grace? Cassandra seems all but removed from her court..."

He watched as Cassandra entered the room in a huff, rushing over to her Queen. He furrowed his brow.

"And her dramatics are not a good look for us."

Daniel took a moment to note where he was seating and the view from his seat did not please him. Lines of power were becoming clear to him the longer he was in NYC, and he realized in that moment, that this was not the table he wanted to be sitting at. Rebecca would have commanded the room, like the way that Ava was doing right now, or even Ashley, who was apparently making the people beg for her presence. Daniel was a man of loyalty, but he also craved power and influence. He needed to make up his mind about where he wanted to fall and soon, but he had yet to meet the other Queens. He would need to change this tonight. He glanced down at his watch mindlessly as he took another swig of his martini.

"But if you are looking for new court appointments, I could most certainly get a feel for the courts. Do a bit of investigation work...the more we know about these people the better."

Hellfire Club - Great Hall

"Lookin' fresh, Johnny. Like a regular Kensington bastard."

John: "Well sometimes one must make sacrifices for one's Court."

"Don't I know it..."

He inquired about The Black Princess and it looked as if Ava was about to say something.

Ava: "Actually..."

John: "She's not coming."

But then she made her grand entrance in a huff.

Cassandra: "I'm...here. I'm here."

There she was in all her glory looking a huddled mess. He knew his words had been venomous, and he knew Cassandra was weak in spirit, but he was glad to see she had been able to pull it together to come to breakfast. It was a good move on her part, considering Ava's disdain.

"Good to see you, Cassandra."

Ava: "Feeling better, princess?"

Cassandra: "My Queen, I am truly sorry for being late. I never should have dragged you into my thing with the White Bishop."

Ben curled his lip up for a moment.

"Cassandra giveth, and Cassandra taketh away.."

It wasn't the best thing to say out loud in mixed company. But Ben was both relieved and a bit sad to know that Cassandra wasn't in such a state because of his words, but in yet another dramatic situation with The White Bishop. Shit just seemed to rain down on Cassandra, but at least she was attempting to take responsibility for the fact that she often brought that shit down on herself.

Cassandra: "That will never happen again. It was unfair and wrong of me to have disrespected you like that. Please accept my humble apologies."

Okay, so she was laying it on a bit thick. But hey, at least she was trying.

Ava: "Keep your voice down. I'll be dealing with the White Bishop later. Take a seat."

Cassandra: "Yes, your Majesty."

John: "How did things go with Bretta last night?"

Ben found his mind wandering from the table and over towards Erika who made her entrance with The White Rook on her arm. He barely noticed Archer, which was a good thing, because the guy was an arse. He searched The White King's sister's face for anything that might look familiar. She had her father's jaw, and lips. It was as if he was noticing all of these things about her that he never thought to look for, and it thrilled him as much as it enraged him.

Cassandra: "Please keep me from killing the White Bishop."

Goliath was jolted back into reality as the blurred faces at the table around him came back in perfect picture at Cassandra's words. She had placed her hand on his forearm as he gave her a curious look. She was really trying here. A few days ago, she would have not missed the opportunity to start crying loudly, cuddle her scamp of a dog, and annoy the ever loving shit out of everyone. But she was poised. Able to be faced with him, with a decidedly less needy attitude than she normally had. He took a very long swig from his bloody mary and leaned in.

"Our Queen will punish her in due time. And you will get to watch."

His eyes turned to the conversation in front of him, despite him wanting to watch Erika's every move. He had promised Ava he would remain calm, and he would for now.

Ava: "Not a fish bowl in sight.."

Archer: "Heidi will be so dissappointed."

Ben laughed as his Bloody Mary was refilled.

"Bite your tongue, Archer. Heidi lives here now. She barely remembers what dissappointment is anymore."

Archer: "So...inquiring minds want to know...what is on the agenda for today? Just breakfast? I mean...I like breakfast as much as the next man, but I was hoping for a little excitement before the evening."

"Well..not to point out your bold fashion choices yet again, but the Red Queen should be here soon, ready to slaughter you for dawning her colors. That should be sufficiently exciting, right?"

He smirked at Archer. Ben was feeling a bit bolder this morning than he normally would. He hadn't been lying when he said that he was no longer going to keep his tail between his legs. Not after everything he had been through. Archer liked to throw his dick on the table and just see what he could get away with. His eyes may have been locked on Erika, but he wasn't unaware of the situation around him. The Black King was making passes at Ava left and right and practically eye banging her in front of them. Ben could literally break the man like twig over his knee, and if he kept it up, Ben was going to show him who's dick had real girth.

The Hellfire Club - - The Red Wing

He was not charismatic or overly romantic, but with Her there was a bond so strong, it seemed unbreakable. He had been upset, but that was all forgiven and forgotten now. He wanted Her more than he wanted to win any argument or contest. He wanted Her so much, he didn’t want to share Her with the others, and finally he was able to tell Her that.

Ash: I don’t want anyone else...I just needed to hear you say it...

He groaned, driving deeper, shifting Her legs under the onslaught of his need. She claimed him as Hers, the first acknowledgment of something that had always been true. He all but begged to be the only one She would share this part of Her with. He wanted to be everything She needed, everything She desired, especially this.

Ash: Yes...yes...only you....

He leaned down to kiss Her, and She was returning the kiss with fervor. The way She felt provoked a pleasurable growl, and he never wanted to stop, but of course, the way Her body clenched his brought about a sudden climax. He thrust himself deeply again, releasing Her legs and finding Her hands with his. He showered Her face with kisses.

Ash: I’m yours.

He smiled, peering down into Her eyes, his body still pressed against Her.

“You’re mine, and I’m yours, My Queen.”

Hellfire Club - Great Hall

Despite not having his wife for breakfast, the morning was going well. He had a date with Ava after breakfast, which was a good thing, especially considering the urgency. The White King and The Black Queen often made moves together. At one point they had been The Black Prince and The Black Princess together, so they were used to sharing information and making decisions as a unit. Had his wife not belonged to the white court, he would have remained black. But what Mrs. King wanted, she got.

Erika: "Good Morning, Cameron."

Zach: "Your Grace."

Immediately his body tensed up as he looked over to see his sister on the arm of Zachary Armani, looking well put together and seemingly cordial. This was a good thing. She was obviously taking her medication. Either that or Zach had fucked the crazy out of her, to which he would be rewarded greatly if the case.

Erika King gave her mother's signature two cheek kiss as she grabbed his wrist, taking a moment to admire his watch to which Cameron was amused considering it was a gift from his wife, a woman Erika was often competitive with. Still, it was refreshing to see her play nice, even if she was being as fake as a three dollar bill.

Erika: "Where is Haleigh? I'd like to thank her such a wise rook appointment."

"So he HAS fucked the pain away."

[thought Call to Zach]: "Nicely done, Zach."

Zachary's thoughts were always a bit like quicksilver. As an empath, he had a bit of a defense in clouding his thoughts, and Cameron was in a better mood. He didn't see the point in disturbing the force and entering Zach's mind to find out his sister was up to her devious ways.

Zach: "Well thank you, Darling. If you'll excuse me now, I must attend the European White Queen."

Zach left to attend to Liam and Juliette like the good rook that he was and Erika squawked from across the room towards Brienne Shaw.

Erika: "Brienne Shaw! You get your waspy little butt over here and sit next to me!"

The White King's eyes met the lovely form of Brienne Shaw.

"Now she's a lusty little lolita, isn't she?"

The Shaws and The Kings were old family friends, so he had spent some time with Brienne over the years. They bonded over the fact that when it came to killing, they were both rippers. They loved to paint a scene, mostly in blood, and all over the walls. He got off a bit on her sadistic behavior. And she wasn't bad to look at either.

Gia: "Morning, my King."

He looked her up and down with bemused approval. She was causing too much of a stir in the mansion, and his wife and Ava both seemed as if they were through with her antics. Cameron didn't need to know any information outside of that. If his girls wanted her gone, he would give her a death worth watching.

"White Bishop. Good to see you."

The White King went in for an uncharacteristic hug as he whispered in her ear.

"Pull another stunt this weekend and I will cut your fucking head off and let The Black and White Queens play soccer in the grand BALLROOM with it. Now DO YOUR JOB and forge ahead with The Black King..Do I make myself clear, GIA?"

His question was rhetorical and he didn't bothered to hear or care for her answer. She would either listen or she would die. It was as simple as that. Brienne finally closed the gap between them.

Erika: "Oh Goddess...I am so glad you're here!"

Brienne: "Finally a friendly face. Erika, it's been ages."

"Yes it has Brienne. Good to see you, love."

The three of them took their seats. Brienne hated Erika and vice versa, but both liked to test the limits of their own ability to be nauseous. It was very amusing.

"Are the American's always this late to a court wide event? Or is this a special breed of classless and rude?"

Erika: "Classless and rude...tell me..how IS Archer Fairchild doing these days? Still the world's softest face mobster?"

Cameron laughed, a bit surprised and amused at Erika's comeback. She was definitely on her A game. Erika may have driven Cameron crazy, but when she was on. She was on. And she was his sister.

Brienne: "I would have killed everyone and called it a morning."

"We're saving that event for after breakfast, Brienne. We never like to kill on an empty stomach."

He watched as she looked over towards Alek and his mind got flashes of their little encounter. She may have had a PSI Screen, but Alek didn't ;)

"Tell me, are your services only available to The Red King this weekend? Or does your diplomacy extend to those who wear white?"

Ava could catch the subtleties between the way Archer spoke with her and addressed John. The hint of jealousy and annoyance with how John wasn't backing down from him. It made a sly smile tug on the corner of Ava's lips as she quipped about Ashley hating when other courts wore her color. Of course Archer had a remark about hoping to be disciplined by Ashley. Ava had to agree. She hoped Ashley would shove her sword straight up his arrogant ass. The conversation continued onto the evening's festivities, again Archer not taking kindly to John or his input. He played it off well enough, but it wasn't lost to Ava he was trying to show how big his dick was around her and her court. Archer had been eying her since the moment he arrived at their club. He not only wanted her companies resources, he wanted her. His expression and the way he kept blazing a trail down her body with his eyes was enough to make the Queen want to snatch them out of his skull. She could tell John was getting more than fed up by it, Ava taking his hand under the table.

Archer:
"So...inquiring minds want to know...what is on the agenda for today? Just breakfast? I mean...I like breakfast as much as the next man, but I was hoping for a little excitement before the evening."

Ben: "Well..not to point out your bold fashion choices yet again, but the Red Queen should be here soon, ready to slaughter you for dawning her colors. That should be sufficiently exciting, right?"

Ava pressed her lips together in an effort not to laugh, but she couldn't help it, looking at Ben with approval at his bold words toward Archer.

"Oh i'm sure she'll have a few choice words that will be quite entertaining."

Looking back at Archer.

"There are a number of woman here i'm sure will quench your thirst for excitement, Archer. Perhaps if you peeled your eyes off me for a moment you would see that?"

Ava called him out, raising an eyebrow daring him to respond.

"Then again, you were always drawn to things you can't have."

Another jab at him stealing from her company. Ava smiled warmly at him as she stood from her seat.

"Excuse me."

Her smile immediately faded as she departed from the table and headed over to the pastry bar, needing a moment to separate herself from Archer's suffocating looks and banter before she reached across the table and knocked his ass out. Looking down at her black diamond watch set she sighed out with annoyance. Where the hell were Haleigh and Ashley?

Hellfire Club – Great Hall

:: Ben told her that it was good to see her, but Cass just gave him a cold ‘are you for real?’ look; like it was just an ordinary day where he DIDN’T TOTALLY RIP HER TO SHREDS THAT MORNING. She didn’t care if that was rude or not. ::

You wanted – no, DEMANDED – that I leave you alone, well, that means that you have to leave ME alone as well. You can’t have it both ways.

:: She was angry and pissed at him…but she was mainly hurt. He didn’t even let her explain…he didn’t even care. Now she knew the truth: he hated her. He truly hated her. Still…she knew that she had to be professional with him. The friendship that they had shared, though, that was gone. Ben didn’t just hurt her; he ANNIHILATED her spirit and soul. So she asked if he could please keep her from killing Gia. ::

Ben: ”Our Queen will punish her in due time. And you will get to watch.”

:: Ben probably meant that as a positive thing, and she should have been grateful, but all she felt was cold numbness. ::

*mutters*: ”I never should have written you that letter.”

:: So she just sat there, bored, as the rest of them talked with Archer. She amused herself, though, by using her power to wrap the silver KNIFE around her wrist like a bracelet. Soon, though, she noticed that Ava was leaving and she did not look happy. This would not be good for Cass, since she was hoping to get an audience with Ava later on. She wanted Ava to be in a good mood when she asked. ::

No, this will NOT do.

:: She released her hold on the knife and watched it spring back into its original shape before she took the initiative and moved quickly to the other side of the table where Archer was. This was no time to throw a pity party for herself. ::

“Mr. Fairchildl! You need another drink!”

:: Without waiting for an answer, she wrapped her arm around Archer’s and gently pulled him away. She smiled up at him, her clear ice-blue eyes gazing at him through her eyelashes. She used her free hand to place it in his as she led him away from their table. ::

*amused*: “Now what would posess a Black King to wear a red suit to breakfast this morning?”

Savage's Floor

He gave her the one thing she craved: that he needed her above all others and couldn’t stand for her to be with anyone else. She had known he was jealous, but he never would say what he wanted. Until now.

He drove her delirious with pleasure, and she promised that he would be the only one. She didn’t remember just then that Alek had made such a promise once. And if she had, AJ was not Alek. AJ would kill for her, die for her, love her and never leave her. Who could be a more worthy lover?

She smiled against his kiss when she felt him growl, a physical expression of his need fot her. And then she came, and so did he, and it was like they were completely in sync. He let go of her legs and she lowered them, and smiled up at him as his large hands took hers in his. Kisses rained from his lips, and she told him she was his. She squeezed his hands, her mouth finding his neck, never wanting to separate from him. She returned to his face and he smiled that beautiful and deadly smile down at her, looking at her with those amazing eyes.

“You’re mine, and I’m yours, My Queen.”

“Always.”

She let go of one of his hands so she could run her fingers through his softhair, then cupped his cheek.

“You can always tell me what you want, AJ. You don’t have to hide from me.”

She kissed him softly, with meaning. And all she wanted to do was have him carry her to his bed. But, she couldn’t. She rolled them, so she was on top. She sat up, still straddling him, and with an apologetic look started to tie her dress shut.

“I have to go to that breakfast.”

She lowered her body down so their chests were pressed together. Her voice returned to its sultry sound, and a devilish smile spread over her face.

“But tonight, after the party, we can order whatever you want from the kitchen, and some beer, and we can be naked together. All night.“

She kissed him passionately once more before getting to her feet and smoothing down her dress. When he stood and fixed himself, she slipped her arm around his and took his hand, pressing against him as they once again started towards this morning’s event.

“Remember I do have to be nice to our guests, babe.”

She patted his arm.

“But it’s just keeping up appearances. “

They entered the great hall, and almost immediately, Alek was at her side, grabbing her by the arm.

Alek: “We need to talk, my Queen.”

She looked at AJ and smiled.

“Why don’t you find our seats? I’ll be right there.”

She turned back to Alek, who was pulling her off to the side away from everyone else.

Alek: “Somebody’s been sleeping in my bed.”

Ashley smirked.

“There was no sleeping going on, I assure you.”

Alek: “The least you could have done was call the maid.”

She shrugged.

“I guess I only know how to fight or fuck.”

He laughed.

“Besides, I wouldn’t have wanted you to miss the video of what you missed out on.”

Alek: “You did well, my little queen. You’re going to wish you’d drawn Brienne, though. That power of hers is amazing.”

“Just be careful she doesn’t cut your dick off and take it home with her. Or maybe the crazy bitch will kill Archer and make you her king.”

She reached up and patted his cheek.

Alek [nodding towards Savage]: “Does you boy toy know about your escapade with the White King & Queen?”

She smiled sardonically.

“He’s our Knight. Of course he does.”

Alek: “Our Knight? Just make sure he doesn’t get any ideas about letting an accident happen to me.”

“He’d die for us, Alek, and you know it. If he wouldn’t, he wouldn’t be on our court. He may do it for me gladly, and for you out of duty. But he'd still do it. And don’t forget which one of us ended things. Now if you’ll excuse me?”

She turned and went to the table, taking her seat between Archer’s empty one on her left and Savage on her right. Alek came and sat on Archer’s other side. Ashley’s foot wrapped itself around Savage’s calf, smiling. A server brought her a bloody mary, and she took a long drink.

“So, what’s on the menu this morning?”

As he waited for his Queen to speak, Daniel scanned the room to see Ava standing alone. When she had entered the room, he could feel both her AND her Black Rook's joy. It appeared that they had found each other. But now there appeared to be a cloud around her and it became very apparent as to what that was - Archer Fairchild. It was always Archer fucking Fairchild. Rolling his eyes, he motioned to his Queen.

"Hold the thought, my Queen. There is something I need to do."

Daniel made his way calmy over towards Ava like the gentleman that he was and stood next to her, there shoulders only inches apart, one arm folded under the arm that held his martini glass, watching Archer ooze in the way he often did.

"He sure is a son of a bitch, isn't he?"

He cocked his head to the side as if he were observing a primate in it's natural habit.

"But he does look like it would be fun to discipline a little bit...cause you know he likes to take a bit of a beating before he beds you..."

He smirked at the thought for a moment before gesturing to Ava lightly with his glass to emphasize the point.

"But still. Pure mutant garbage most of the time."

Daniel took a cool sip of his martini as he swirled the olives around in the glass with a professional skill.

"Now, I offered my services to you last night, Black Queen. And your boy is feeling a bit dissappointed that you haven't taken me up on my offer. I certainly know how to get Archer Fairchild to back off..."

The Red Bishop gave Ava a soft nudge on the shoulder. He was being a bit bold with her, but he sensed that she might like that. Daniel was beginning to feel a rapport with Ava, and to be honest, he enjoyed her. But he still had bitter resentment over the death of Helena and he had it on good authority that Ava had a good deal to do with her death. So he found himself trying to look for reasons not to like her, despite the fact that he did. If she just did something not so devilishly for once, he could write her off. But so far...The Black Queen was earning a perfect report card from Daniel.

"You are positively beaming with happiness, your Grace...."

"As is your dashing rook..."

"Doesn't it feel like embarrassing Archer in a public forum might be quite the little cherry on top?"

Ava had excused herself from the table, needing a moment to breathe before she did something to Archer Fairchild that would ultimately start a war. Between Cassandra, Gia, Erika, Ben, Archer, and the fact that she had yet to make her announcement because Haleigh and Ashley were late? It was enough to make Ava grab a chocolate scone. She just wanted at least one headache gone, and she knew the moment John was revealed as her new King it would lessen her stress load. Pulling a bit of the flakey pastry apart, she looked up to finally see Ashley walk in arm and arm with AJ. Apparently whatever hiccup they had the night before involving Savage and Cobra had been resolved. Now that just left Haleigh.

Ava popped the piece of scone into her mouth just as Daniel approached her. She had no ill will towards Daniel, but she had to keep her guard up around him considering she was the one who ordered Helena's head to be ripped off.

Daniel: "He sure is a son of a bitch, isn't he?"

"You have to be more specific in this crowd."

Ava retorted before cracking a smile. Daniel looked over at Archer and Ava's line of sight followed. It was then she noticed Cassandra taking the initiative and going over to Archer in what looked like an attempt at distracting him. That was unexpected.

Daniel: "But he does look like it would be fun to discipline a little bit...cause you know he likes to take a bit of a beating before he beds you..."

"I'd be more than happy to beat him to a pulp before he even gets hard."

She stated matter of factly, though there was no way she would ever invite him into her bedroom let alone her bed. Placing the half eaten scone on the pastry display table, a servant was there immediately to pick it up so everything remained looking pristine.

Daniel: "But still. Pure mutant garbage most of the time."

"He's revolting. How you deal with him on a daily basis is beyond me. Honestly, you need a promotion."

Perhaps to Black Rook? Ava thought, the idea definitely a sure fire way to stir shit up. Having Discord leave the European Branch and become the American Black Rook? It would be just the shakeup they would need to show the American Branch wasn't fucking around.

Daniel: "Now, I offered my services to you last night, Black Queen. And your boy is feeling a bit dissappointed that you haven't taken me up on my offer. I certainly know how to get Archer Fairchild to back off..."

Ava smirked at Daniel.

"I was a little distracted last night with some personal business when we spoke, however that has been resolved. I am quite interested in what you have in mind..."

Ava smile broadened at the thought of what Daniel was cooking up. He was a unique one, and Helena sure as hell wouldn't have kept him close if he wasn't creative.

Daniel: "You are positively beaming with happiness, your Grace....Doesn't it feel like embarrassing Archer in a public forum might be quite the little cherry on top?"

Apparently she was glowing because Daniel wasn't the first person to suggest as much. If she knew she couldn't get pregnant she would have started to worry. But no, this glowing was definitely from a happiness only love could bring. It was something she finally allowed in her heart and it was radiating from her in waves. Ava smiled at Daniel, the thought of fucking with Archer definitely the cherry she wanted on her morning sundae. However she needed to be careful. Again, Daniel could very well be playing her to the benefit of his branch.

"Are you trying to get me in trouble Mr. Reed? I do love crossing the line....but only when it benefits me."

Ava smirked playfully.

Hellfire - Great Hall

"He sure is a son of a bitch, isn't he?"

Ava: "You have to be more specific in this crowd."

"Touche."

Daniel moved his eyes over towards Archer and watched as Ava's did as well. Things felt easy with her. She seemed to be on the same page as each other. It was promising to say the least. Daniel made a quick joke about Archer's sex appeal despite his lack of character.

Ava: "I'd be more than happy to beat him to a pulp before he even gets hard."

Daniel laughed.

"Well, what I mean is...he's the kind of guy you hate until he's inside of you. But, different strokes I guess."

"But still. Pure mutant garbage most of the time."

Ava: "He's revolting. How you deal with him on a daily basis is beyond me. Honestly, you need a promotion."

That perked Daniel's ears right up as he let out an amused sigh, taking another drink of his martini. He was starting to feel this one, and being seen in public two times now with The Black Queen was definitely going to boost his stock.

"You'd be surprised what you can stomach for a bit of power, Black Queen. But I appreciate the sentiment. Glad to know somebody appreciates the work I do around here."

He gave a breadcrumb, hoping she would pick up on it. He watched as Ashley took a seat at breakfast. And he decided then and there that Archer would not be sitting where he wanted this morning. But Daniel would. Ava was definitely the front runner, but he couldn't let himself be impulsive as he wanted right now. Daniel Reed prided himself on making the right decisions.

"Now, I offered my services to you last night, Black Queen. And your boy is feeling a bit dissappointed that you haven't taken me up on my offer. I certainly know how to get Archer Fairchild to back off..."

Ava: "I was a little bit distracted last night with some personal business when we spoke, however that has been resolved. I am quite interested in what you have in mind."

He smirked.

"Well now I'm wishing I had my own personal business to be distracted with. But sadly, most of the boys in Hellfire are only interested in same sex encounters when it involves a pit of hot oil and a bikini.."

He noted Ava's happiness, but it was not just because she was glowing. He could FEEL the love she had permeating from John and John to Ava from the second he had walked into the room. The night before he had felt it too. But there were barbs, barriers even. It seemed as if both were as scared as they were in love, and he didn't give it a second thought because he assumed it would stay that way for one reason or another, but apparently, somebody had made a move.

Ava: "Are you trying to get me in trouble Mr. Reed? I do love crossing the line...but only when it benefits me."

"Oh fine, I'll text the girl holding the rope to the blood bucket, and we'll do some a bit more Mean Girls... Your phone?"

He watched as Ava seemed immediately uneasy about the proposition.

"Oh please. You may be Queen, but I'm certain I have more contacts than you."

Hesitantly, she agreed, which was another good sign. He began to open the messaging screen, knowing that Ava was smart enough to delete anything she didn't want seen. He began to type in a phone number.

"Now, I'm going to tell you this story, because one, it's very funny, and two..because I like you..."

He took a sip of his drink, his eyes glued to the phone still.

"Now Archer, unsurprisingly is a bit of a pervert. The details of his escapades are outrageous, and almost unbelievable..but there was one night, when a particularly painful scream could be heard throughout the Hellfire Estate. I happened to be on break from an extended holiday..and am naturally a bit curious. So I followed the sounds."

Daniel began to scroll through the emojis section.

"I opened The Black King's door, he was the rook then, to find Archer SCREAMING on all fours from the room as a quite literally frozen hooker sat lifeless on the bed. This was not unusual..what WAS unusual, however..."

He began to smirk wildly, on the brink of a full blown laughter fit.

"What had accidentally gotten lodged in his ASS.."

[leaning in]

"Apparently, Archer was a bit into pegging...and his lady friend had gotten a bit too enthusiastic."

>> [to Archer]: "I heard you know a thing or two about horns..*seven unicorn emojis* By the way, you'll need to return to your original seat. I'm having breakfast with The Red Bishop today." - Ava

He hit sent and began to laugh loudly, returning Ava her phone, gesturing for him to look in Archer's direction.

"I helped him of course, after I died of laughter several times. And now, whenever I need a favor from The now Black King, he tends to get it taken care of..."

The two of them watched as Archer looked at his phone, not recognizing the number, only grimacing as he turned fifty shades of red, his eyes shooting up venomous as Daniel who could not wipe the smile on his face. He gave The Black King a wink and they watched him try to hide his embarrassment, anger, and outrage and shrug it off. He BARELY accomplished the feat. Daniel shook his head, impressed.

"Perhaps that was ballsy of me, but it's a victimless crime. Archer can't punish me because, well...I'm me, and because he doesn't want me to reveal what happened to anybody..."

[satisfied] "It's fun to watch him squirm..."

Daniel thought for a moment.

"He's testing you. He might come across like he only wants to bang you..and don't get me wrong, he would jump at the opportunity, but he doesn't WANT you to give in. Archer likes business, and he likes pleasure, but he normally doesn't mix the two, despite how he appears. And in your line of business, he may be nefarious, but he's not a Nefaria..or a Zacchara. So he has that going with him, and..."

"If I may be frank, he has connections to governments that have yet to be tapped by American Hellfire."

[leaning in]

"He is making a killing in Japan and China...places who are not as receptive to Cassadine Industries. It could be in an in for you to take Cassadine in a different direction."

He tried to gauge her reaction while downing the rest of his martini, not an easy task.

"Forgive me if I have overstepped or offended, but I'm a fan of information, and very good at getting it. Plus, this martini has me feeling very generous..."

[laughing]

"It's possible I'm feeling a bit more at home in this place than is wise for me to feel."

The Hellfire Club - - The Old War Room

Kelly made her best attempt at playing it cool, but Haleigh could tell that this deal was very important to her. The former Queen had no issues agreeing to keep her daughter in line, and mentioned keeping the girl busy at Mystech. Kelly reached for her purse, Haleigh reached for the gun at the small of her back, but before she could even draw it, Kelly had stuck her with a needle.

I don’t know what fucking sorcery she’s using to bend time, but god damn it she can be fast every now and then...

She thought, rubbing her neck where she’d been pricked. Kelly informed her of the nanites, the time frame for effectiveness, and some possible side effects.

“Why the fuck—”

Kelly: Just kidding about that last part.

“Oh, that’s fucking hilarious.”

Kelly: The paperwork has been prepared for my taking the helm of MysTech, and as you are my son's wife, only your signatures will be required. As for Erika..I would LOVE to announce her promotion at The Black Party, but I supposed I've tortured Ava enough lately..I shall leave that to you...

“I’ll announce it when the time is right. For now I’ll tell Cameron, and you tell Erika to calm her fucking tits for a bit. I’ll grant her the title.... but she better fucking ACT right, starting NOW.”

Kelly: But for now? We have a breakfast to attend.

“Indeed. You don’t want to walk in together, though, right? That’d be weird. You know what, you go first. Age before beauty, right?”

She said with a smirk.

Kelly: You can now give the gift of life, Haleigh. Do not forget the responsibility that comes with..You can no longer be as impulsive as you'd like..not without consequence. But welcome to being a woman, I guess. My legacy and my son's legacy is now squarely in your hands. Remember that..

An odd look crossed Haleigh’s face, gone as soon as it was there.

“Fuck, what am I gonna do with a baby? I need to do some research. Is it like having a puppy? I’m okay with those.”

Kelly: And should you consider to reneg at our deal? Take the gift and cut ties? Those nanites? They just might have the ability to unlock the TO virus coursing through your veins in such a way that you will be a rabid TYRANT by evening's end if promises remained unfilled...so consider this the first step in use trusting each other. You don't draw your sword? I won't draw mine...

Haleigh just laughed. Kelly could threaten with the best of them, but Haleigh knew better than to take it seriously. If anything ever happened to Haleigh, Cameron would avenge her, and then she’d wake up in a new body and the SNAFU would be rectified.

“Relax, Mom. I always keep up my end of the deals I make. So long as you do the same, you don’t have anything to worry about.”

Kelly: Pleasure doing business with you, Haleigh.

“Yeah, we’ll see about that.”

She sat there in the War Room for a few more minutes, downloading some of the aforementioned research and doing a quick surveillance check. As she approached the Great Hall, she saw Heidi and Jack going in. They were the last of the Inner Circle to arrive, aside from Haleigh herself. Into the Great Hall she went, and she stooped to kiss her husband, without a care for who was watching or what they thought.

So the short version is your Mother will manage Mystech, your Sister’s our Princess, and we’re gonna have a baby. I’ll let you unpack the memory for the long version.

She told him mentally. She’d have preferred a chance to talk to him alone, but it wasn’t like he wasn’t going to see it in her head, and right now they needed to be present for the Club event.

Daniel: "You'd be surprised what you can stomach for a bit of power, Black Queen. But I appreciate the sentiment. Glad to know somebody appreciates the work I do around here."

Somebody until there's another...Ava thought as she studied Daniel with a smirk. He was smooth and knew how to work the system and she liked that. But she also knew he was probably making his rounds to the other Queens in an effort to gauge their courts as well. Still, he had been hanging around her more often than not. It was a good sign.

"I appreciate those I value."

She added casually as she glanced over to Archer, the conversation shifting back to him. Daniel wanted to engage in some public humiliation. And while Ava wasn't opposed to that, she also had to be very careful about what exactly she did. Daniel seemed eager, making her cock up an eyebrow and playfully ask if he was attempting to get her in trouble. She was supposed to be on her best behavior this weekend to impress their guests.

Daniel: "Oh fine, I'll text the girl holding the rope to the blood bucket, and we'll do some a bit more Mean Girls... Your phone?"

Ava was a bit hesitant to give him her phone, giving him a questionable look.

Daniel: "Oh please. You may be Queen, but I'm certain I have more contacts than you."

Ava let out a light scoff.

"Doubtful."

She handed him her unlocked phone, not worried in the slightest about what he would see on it. She was smart enough to purge the really compromising information on the daily. Daniel then proceeded to tell her a little story about Archer and his sexual escapades back at the European Branch. He began to write up as text as he spoke, Ava looking from Daniel over to Archer, the story making her smile become wider and wider as it went on. Finally Daniel sent the text and showed it to Ava, the Queen letting out a laugh before looking up to see Archer's reaction.

"Oh this is golden."

He looked down at his phone and his face became redder than his two toned jacket. Ava began to laugh along side Daniel, seeing Archer become nervous but try and play off what was obviously a very tender subject for him. Ava took her phone back, folding her arms across her chest looking as satisfied as Daniel.

Daniel: [satisfied] "It's fun to watch him squirm..."

"So fun. Nice job, Daniel..."

Daniel's form of punishment and Ava's form were leaps and bounds different, but almost as satisfying. She was thoroughly enjoying getting to know him more. But Daniel shifted topics to Archer testing her. Ava rolled her eyes. Archer was the type of man who got off on things he couldn't have. That toy on the playground? He would beat every kid up until he got it, wanting it more than any other toy. But as soon as he got it? He was bored of it and went onto the next one. Ava had met men like him all her life, except Archer was definitely a different kind of breed. Still, Daniel explained his ties with Sub Zero and how it could benefit her.

Daniel: "He is making a killing in Japan and China...places who are not as receptive to Cassadine Industries. It could be in an in for you to take Cassadine in a different direction. Forgive me if I have overstepped or offended, but I'm a fan of information, and very good at getting it. Plus, this martini has me feeling very generous..."

He was right about Japan and China not being fans of her company. Most of Ava's connections and business relations were tied to North and South America, Europe, and Africa. The West had yet to really take to her company, so having an in with them would certainly turn the tides and make it extremely profitable. But that would also mean having to play nice with Archer which Ava was not thrilled about.

"Your information is greatly appreciated, Daniel. And i'm beginning to see just how good you are at getting it."

Ava took the empty martini glass from his hand with a smirk.

"Remind me to keep a fresh martini on you at all times."

She held out the empty glass only for a servant to take it and replace it with a fresh one. Ava handed it over to Daniel.

Daniel: "It's possible I'm feeling a bit more at home in this place than is wise for me to feel."

Good. Ava smiled, her eyes lifting to the Great Hall entrance to see Kelly arrive. Fucking bitch. Of course she would come to this, if only to cause trouble. Kelly had something up her sleeve and it wasn't a fat roll. Her attention shifted back to Daniel.

"Not at all. You've been here enough to know the ins and outs of the American Branch. Perhaps you need to consider a change of scenery? A fresh start?"

Ava placed her hand on his back as she began to walk with him back to the table.

"Food for thought, Daniel."

Ava left him with that as she branched off from him and return to her seat. Heidi, Jack, and Haleigh all entered just as she sat down and finally everyone was present. Sitting back down next to John, a servant placed a fresh Mimosa down in front of here before taking her food order. Other servants began to take everyone's breakfast orders as well, and as soon as they were finished, Ava would finally stand to greet everyone and make her announcement.

The Great Hall

Ava's wandering hand on his leg was threatening to blow the whole surprise, not that he minded. If she went any higher, though, he was going to have to drag her under the table.
"After I speak with Cameron....we're going to celebrate. You can do whatever you want to me, my King."

He smiled devilishly.

"And I've saved up a lot of ideas."

It took everything he had not to kiss her right then. His brow darkened as the Black Knight regaled them with her prior night's escapades. Ava and Amanda were gal pals, and they chatted and laughed over such a thing. He, of course, saw it completely differently, as a pitfall that could wreck the breakfast, or the weekend, if Ashley chose to make a scene. He politely suggested that Ava make things right with Ashley, just in case.

Seph said:
"If Ashley gets pissed off at Amanda for fucking AJ while she's off entertaining the Europeans, that's the pot meeting the kettle, John."

"She will see the two as very different things, my Queen."

And Ava was not stupid.

Seph said:
"However I will speak with her and tell her that it was all in good fun - no ill will towards her or the Red Court. Amanda knows well enough than to taste the forbidden fruit if it's already been picked."

Cassandra made an appearance, which John was happy to see. She seemed to be falling into protocol - perhaps she would turn out to be a useful princess after all. He asked how things with Bretta went.

"Pretty good, I think.”

"We were the only court to approach her last night, so if you can cultivate that relationship, it would certainly be a win for us. We need to make contact with the White Court though."

The were interrupted by Archer, who came and sat across from them, instead of with his own queen, which would have seemed odd if John didn't know how badly Archer wanted to get into Ava's pants. He was wearing a red jacket, which John did not appreciate, and knowing that Ava despised the man, the last thing he wanted was to have him sitting with them at their special breakfast.

"Obnoxious, isn't it? My blood may be black, but that doesn't mean my blazer has to be.."

"Some might see it as a sign of disrespect to your hosts."

His eyes stared at Archer, dark and foreboding. But Ava swooped in, making light of it. He didn't like the way Archer's eyes traveled Ava's body, not one bit. But John stayed respectful, though not to go so far as to call him King. He praised Ava on the event they were holding that evening.

Archer said:
"She is a very special woman, so I don't doubt it, John."

And the shitbag winked at him after taking another long and inappropriate look at Ava. John's eyes narrowed. He wanted to leap across the table and smash the guy's face into his plate several times. But once again, Ava to the rescue. She took his hand under the table, and leaned in and whispered.

Ava said:
"Almost time, babe..."

And he smiled, looking like he was laughing at a private joke.

Archer said:
"So..inquiring minds want to know..what is on the agenda for today? Just breakfast? I mean...I like breakfast as much as the next man, but I was hoping for a little excitement before the evening."

John's jaw was tight, but he kept as much malice out of his voice as he could.

"I believe the Red Court were in charge of the midday activity. Supposedly they're flying us to the country for it."

"There are a number of woman here i'm sure will quench your thirst for excitement, Archer. Perhaps if you peeled your eyes off me for a moment you would see that? Then again, you were always drawn to things you can't have."

That brought an involuntary smile to his lips, and made him stand a little taller, know that he, on the other hand, could have her.

Ava excused herself then, no doubt to get away from Archer, and John stood while she left the table before sitting back down in his seat. As much as he would have liked to follow her, it would be more insulting than they wanted to be if they all got up and left at once. Plus, John wanted to keep an eye on this particular frenemy. Surprisingly, Cassandra distracted Archer, pulling him towards the bar. She was increasingly coming into her own, he was glad to see. Perhaps she would work out after all.

First the Red Knight joined them, then his Queen and King. Ashley seemed to be paying very little heed to either her King, or the Black Knight, so John took that as a good sign.

“So, what’s on the menu this morning?”

"Whatever you desire, Red Queen. I recommend the lobster frittata."

He watched Ava talk with Daniel Reed, then smiled as she returned to her seat next to him. Breakfast had finally started, so it wouldn't be long now.

All the servants had gathered everyone's orders and began to filter out of the Great Hall except for a select few who remained to replenish drinks. Ava looked around the table, everyone situated in their court appointed areas with the Black Court at the head of the table for this event. Picking up her mimosa and a knife, Ava gently tapped her glass to gather everyone's attention as she stood.

"Before the food is presented, I'd like to thank everyone for attending this early morning Black Court event. With how tight our schedule is this weekend, I have the unfortunate luck of hosting breakfast....because lets be realistic, i'm sure everyone would much rather be in bed right about now."

And definitely not sleeping. Ava smiled, trying to keep the mood upbeat considering most people within the walls of Hellfire rarely woke before 10am. Hell, she would rather be in bed fucking John than hosting this breakfast, but all in due time. Now, it was time to get down to business.

"But with hosting this event I do have the honor of making a very important announcement. As many of you know, after the uprising within these walls over a year ago, I have been the only Queen ruling without a King. [she paused for a moment] That ends today. I would like to officially present to you, the newly appointed Black King of the American Hellfire Club..."

Ava looked down at John with a smile, gesturing to him as she announced his name.

"Johnathan Steel."

Ava and everyone else began to clap at the announcement as John stood from his seat. It was now official and the looming stress of keeping up appearances was over. John was the new Black King, and Ava stood shoulder to shoulder with him as his Queen. She wrapped her arm around his waist and leaned into him so he could hear her over the applause.

"Congratulations."

The Hellfire Club - - The Red Wing

Ashley was putting Her hand in his hair, and it felt good. He smiled when She said that he could tell Her anything, that he didn’t have to hide from Her. They shared a tender kiss, and when he went to nuzzle Her neck afterward, She rolled out from under him. She started to close Her dress up again, prompting his protest.

“Wait, My Queen... You don’t have to hide from me either....”

He said, reaching for Her wrists, but She continued to get dressed, telling him She HAD to go to breakfast. He groaned but relented.

“Oh, right. Breakfast.”

He’d never been so reluctant to eat, but if they could’ve gotten room service like usual, he would admit to being famished. But She leaned back down on top of him, commanding his attention, and then promised that they could get room service after the evening party, and be naked together.

“All night?!”

It was enough motivation to put his clothes right again and get up from the carpet to escort Her to the Great Hall.

Ash: Remember I do have to be nice to our guests, babe. But it’s just keeping up appearances.

“Do I have to be nice too though?”

He asked, and it was unclear whether or not he was serious. As soon as they entered the Hall, the King sprung himself on them. Savage tensed ever so slightly, but then his Queen was giving him a reassuring smile, and sending him to find their seats. He went, but that didn’t mean he didn’t keep a close watch for signs of aggression. He grunted his hellos to those he knew, and glared at the Dead Thing warily, but then he was looking for his Queen again and found her, still talking with the little bear. Her body language was dismissive, uncaring, and secretly he was glad to see it. It wasn’t long before his Queen was returning to him, settling down beside him and hooking Her foot around his lower leg. He smirked, casting a sideways glance at Her, not as discreetly as he thought.

Ash: So, what’s on the menu this morning?

John: Whatever you desire, Red Queen. I recommend the lobster frittata.

“I brought in an Elk last night, if You’re in the mood for venison, My Queen.”

He said, as the rest of the Inner Circle arrived and took their seats. The servants came around and took their food orders, and then the Black Queen rose to make an announcement. She thanked everyone for coming, acknowledging that they’d all rather be in bed. And then she told them all that the Black Rook was now the Black King, and surely AJ wasn’t the only one surprised by this revelation, though he might have been the only one wondering if the Red Queen could choose a different King just as easily as Ava had promoted hers.

Hellfire Club – Great Hall

:: Cass and Archer were at the bar, engaging in a bit of small talk, before she confessed the truth about why she had brought him over to the bar. ::

“To tell you the truth, Archer, I only brought you over for purely selfish reasons.”

:: When he had asked what those reasons were, she had laughed and then played coy. ::

*coyly*: “Wouldn’t you like to know?”

:: She turned towards the bar and took a sip of her vodka lime and soda before she turned back to Archer and angled her body towards him. ::

*coyly*: “Could it be because I’m just doing my duty in keeping away unwanted attention from my Queen? Or maybe it’s because I’m trying to get on my Queen’s good side for a change? Or maybe…”

:: Her facial expression turned playful. ::

*playfully*: “Could it be that the Princess is interested in the King?”

:: She chuckled and shrugged her shoulders, turning a bit coy again. ::

*coyly*: “Guess we, or rather, you, will never know for certain.”

:: His phone buzzed and she watched as he pulled it out and looked it. She noticed that he was angry and somewhat embarrassed about something, especially when he didn’t look her in the eye. ::

I guess I can help the poor guy out.

:: She placed her hand on top of his hand that was on the bar and waited. Usually she used her power to draw out the energy out of someone in order to feed. But she also could use her power to impart the energy into someone in order to heal them – since Bear only had a prained leg and paw, she couldn’t use her power on him – or just to give them a simple high or energy boost. She squeezed his hand lightly and could feel the energy flowing through her into Archer. She could immediately see him relax, and let go of his hand. Unlike drug-filled highs, hers could last longer and the person wouldn’t have any of the side effects associated from the drug-filled highs. ::

*softly*: “Feel better now?”

:: She noticed that GIA had appeared on the other side of Archer and her face fell. Gia’s face mirrored her exact same expression. ::

Gia: *flatly*: “Oh. Hi, Cass.”

:: Cass considered going with her first option, which was to murder her right where she stood, but she did ask Ben to keep her from killing her, so she’ll let Gia live – for now. She also considered her second option, which was to be a big of a bitch as she could be, but that wouldn’t put her in a good light where Archer was concerned, so she went with the third option, which was to be friendly. ::

“Oh, hey, Gia! How’s it going?”

:: Cass was pleased at how her answer and tone completely disarmed the White Bishop. Gia was speechless. ::

Gia: *taken aback*: “Oh…oh! I’m…good. Hey, would you mind if I had a moment with Archer?”

:: Cass was thrilled at how thrown Gia was. ::

“Sure, of course you can.”

:: Before she left, though, she took his left hand in hers, her eyes never leaving his, and did a circular pattern on his palm with her left pointer finger before she trailed it up his palm, up his wrist, and along his arm before she trailed it across the back of his shoulders and down his right arm and hand before she linked her left pointer finger with his right one and walked away, still holding his gaze, releasing his finger when she absolutely had to. Then she winked at him. ::

“See you later, Archer.”

:: Then she left him with that traitorous bitch, Gia. She noticed the EWC was on the far side of the Hall and she took a few steps in that direction before the bell sounded calling everybody to breakfast. She sighed and made a mental note to make contact with them later. She was especially intrigued by Juliette. Succubi [female plural form of a succubus] and incubi [male plural form of an incubus] were sometimes confused with vampires, and vice versa, due to the fact that they all hunted in the dead of night. In fact, before MysTech had captured her, Cass was mistaken for a vampire at one point. The only difference was that she could be out in the sun. ::

Next time.

:: Cass headed back to her place at the Black Court table and ordered a piece of frittata. She took a sip of her vodka and lime soda and placed it on the table. She turned to look at Ava when the Black Queen tapped her glass with her knife. ::

Ava: "Before the food is presented, I'd like to thank everyone for attending this early morning Black Court event. With how tight our schedule is this weekend, I have the unfortunate luck of hosting breakfast....because lets be realistic, i'm sure everyone would much rather be in bed right about now."

:: Cass looked down at her lap. She wished that she had woken up in her own bed. She wished that she had never brought Ben’s drunken ass back to his suite. ::

I hate regrets.

Ava: "But with hosting this event I do have the honor of making a very important announcement. As many of you know, after the uprising within these walls over a year ago, I have been the only Queen ruling without a King. That ends today. I would like to officially present to you, the newly appointed Black King of the American Hellfire Club..."

:: Cass perked up at ‘very important announcement’. It seemed that Ava had finally chosen a King. ::

Ava: “…Jonathan Steele.”

:: Cass felt both delight, that the Black Court had a King, and horror, because she had almost ruined it for them both. She felt awful. This breakfast was actually a celebration for John and she had come thisclose to ruining the moment for him…and Ava. She cleared her throat and shook her head. ::

What’s past is past. The only thing left is the future.

:: With tears in her eyes, tears of happiness for John, and also tears of sadness, for what she had almost ruined, Cass got up from her chair and walked over to the Black Queen…and the NEW Black King. She tapped them both on the shoulder, wrapped her arms around both of their waists and smiled brightly, her voice thick with unshed tears. ::

“As the Black Princess, I couldn’t be happier…”

:: her voice broke then, and she found that she was crying. Not bawling, but crying. The others might think that she was happy for John, and they would be right, but Ava and John might understand that the tears weren’t just happy tears. ::

*crying*: “…for you, John – Your Majesty. I can’t wait to serve underneath you and with you.”

:: She gave Ava a small squeeze. ::

“I mean that for you, as well, my Queen.”

:: She took the opportunity to ask for a meeting, lowering her voice so that only John and Ava could hear her. ::

*whispers*: ”I’d like a moment of both of your time later, if that’s okay with you. It’s important.”

:: Yet another clue that the Cass standing with them was not the Cass that they had been dealing with. Smiling widely, she dropped her arms from around their waists and then reached up to give John a small hug before doing the same to Ava. She turned back to the crowd. ::

*shouts*: “Long live the King and Queen!!”

:: Then she made her way back to her seat. ::

To Breakfast

Ashley reminded Savage as they walked to breakfast arm in arm, that she did have to be nice to the guests (for the most part anyway) - having Liam and Juliette specifically in mind.

“Do I have to be nice too though?”

“Of course not.”

She smiled at him knowingly. She loved how different he was from Alek, who could eat shit with a smile on his face.

“Just try not to kill anyone unless they try to kill us first.”

She squeezed his hand.

“You know what your job is. As long as you do it, I don’t give a fuck if you’re nice to people.”

She leaned up on her toes to kiss his scruffy cheek.

“Except me, of course.”

Alek accosted her on the way in - as she knew he would - so she sent Savage to the table, not entirely sure which of the men she was protecting. When they finished their banter, she headed to her seat next to AJ. Suddenly she was famished and asked the Black Court sitting across from her what they were having. The Rook told her she could order anything, and suggested “lobster frittata”. She wrinkled her nose - that being a little fancy for her tastes.

AJ said:
“I brought in an Elk last night, if You’re in the mood for venison, My Queen.”

She nodded and turned her head to a server.

“Yes, have the chef make me something good with that. He knows what I like. And I also want some home fries, and toast. And some eggs. And orange juice. And another bloody mary.”

She sighed, happily imagining her breakfast. And then she noticed that Archer was sitting next to her. How the hell did that happen? Ava had told her all about Archer, and she knew he was friendly with Alek. He had also been up Helena’s ass for some reason. She turned to look at him with a cold stare.

“Archer, are you mocking my Court with that jacket? Because we will not take it kindly if you are.”

Ava stood up to welcome everyone, which Ashley hoped meant her food would arrive shortly.

....because lets be realistic, i'm sure everyone would much rather be in bed right about now."

Ashley looked at AJ & raised an eyebrow at him, her knee moving to press her thigh against his.

Ava said:
"But with hosting this event I do have the honor of making a very important announcement. As many of you know, after the uprising within these walls over a year ago, I have been the only Queen ruling without a King. [she paused for a moment] That ends today. I would like to officially present to you, the newly appointed Black King of the American Hellfire Club...Johnathan Steel."

Wait...what?

Ashley’s smile wiped from her face, and she stared up at Ava and John, her new King. She grabbed Savage’s hand and held it, then turned to yell to a server over the applause.

“We’re gonna need shots over here!”

So that was it then. She had waited too long, her last real chance gone. She had thought if she could somehow convince Ava to take Alek as her King, then she would be free. But that wouldn’t be happening now. She was stuck in this life. Trapped. She turned and looked at AJ, and laid her head on his shoulder, not giving a fuck who saw. The server returned with a tray of shots, and Ashley took two, holding them up towards Ava and John in salute, then downing them both.

Hellfire Club – Great Hall

Cameron: “White Bishop. Good to see you.”

Gia wanted to tell him to stop with the formalities, but then he came in for a hug.

“Oh! O…kay.”

It was bizarre and it felt bizarre, especially since he wasn’t exactly known for hugs..

Cameron: *whispers*: "Pull another stunt this weekend and I will cut your fucking head off and let The Black and White Queens play soccer in the grand BALLROOM with it. Now DO YOUR JOB and forge ahead with The Black King..Do I make myself clear, GIA?"

Then she was dismissed, literally and figuratively. Properly chastened, because that was no idle threat, she made a hasty retreat over to the fruit table where she kept a close eye on Archer Fairchild, or, to be more precise, the entire Black Court, especially Looney Tunes [Cass]. She felt humiliated, which only served to feed her deep rage against the regime within her, but at least she wasn’t as ostracized as Cassandra was. She took comfort in that.

She slowly made her way around the food tables keeping watch over Archer, biding her time until she could swoop in and talk shop with him.

She saw her chance when she noticed that Cass had dragged him over to the bar.

Oh great…but it’s SPLENDID for me!

Gia walked briskly to the bar, ready to help him shake off the Insane Princess. She appeared on the other side of Fairchild and knew that her expression was mirroring Cass’.

*flatly*: “Oh. Hi, Cass.”

Cass: *friendly*: “Oh, hey, Gia! How’s it going?”

Gia had taken a drink of water that she had requested and now she had spit it out all over, completely thrown by Cass’ friendly tone.

*taken aback*: “Oh…oh! I’m…good. Hey, would you mind if I had a moment with Archer?”

Gia had completely forgotten what she wanted to say to the Black King.

Cass: “Sure, of course you can.”

Gia felt so discombobulated that she barely noticed Cass’ physical flirting with Archer.

What the FUCK just happened?

Gia turned to Archer and said the first thing that came to mind.

“She’s such a bitch. Honestly, Arch, you don’t want to spend time with her. She’s batshit crazy, and everybody here will be able to tell you that.”

Gia watched Cass as she walked away.

“Beauty is wasted on that kind of person.”

Gia smiled and turned back to Archer.

“So! We’re in the same business, it looks like. Let’s talk shop.”

Sadly, the breakfast bell rang just then and everybody started for their seats. Gia somehow lost sight of Archer. It was as if one second he was right there and then the next second, he had disappeared without a trace. Feeling adrift, and she hated feeling anything akin to weakness, she headed back to her table, taking her seat and minded her own business. Ava then called for order and she made her stupid announcement that the Rook was now her King.

Meh.

Gia clapped with all the others though but her heart wasn’t in it. She was busy coming up with ways to engage Archer Fairchild. Before the weekend was over, she would have a sit-down with the European Black King.

Hellfire - Great Hall

"Finally..."

His queen made her appearance, somehow looking more beautiful than when she had left him, but he always thought that. She gave him a kiss that sent a shockwave through his body as her voice crept up in his mind.

Haleigh: "So the short version is your Mother will manage MysTech, your Sister's our Princess, and we're gonna have a baby. I'll let you unpack the memory for the long version."

[to Haleigh]: "Uh...so you've been busy this morning...?"

The King was at a loss of words. Immediately he pressed into the Queen's mind, searching with ease for the conversation that transpired between Haleigh and his mother, as it had apparently been very fucking eventful. He watched them in the upper levels of the Hellfire Mansion, in a room that hadn't been used in years. His mother spoke of his legacy, of her legacy and struck a deal with Haleigh.

Scion said:
Haleigh joked, and then Kelly went on to say that Cameron wanted a child. It was not something they'd ever talked about before. When they were teenagers it was quite convenient to not worry about surprise conception, and as they grew to adults there was never any reason to discuss having children, since it was well-known to be impossible. And though Haleigh didn't like the way Kelly was hanging a lantern on her inability to reproduce, she listened patiently, because clearly Kelly was bringing up a 'problem' to which she already had a solution.

Kelly: Your little rebellion has caused a shift in priority for me. I've realized what is important to me - my work..and my children. Cameron has spared my life and I need to repay him. And what greater of a gift than the gift of hope, of new life. Of a baby that is both parts himself...and his loving wife? He would want for nothing more after for his entire life....

Haleigh mulled that over. Cameron had always been eager to give her everything she wanted. If this was something he truly wished he could have, how could she not grant him that?

Kelly: A quick trip to The Body Shoppe...or a spell? And I can give you the ability to bare your King a son or daughter.

"You know I share my husband's mistrust of spells, and deals with the devil."

She replied, downplaying her interest in this whole proposition. Best to avoid any indication of enthusiasm.

Kelly: All I ask in return...is MysTech...AND...Installing my daughter as your White Princess.

Haleigh's gaze steadily assessed her mother-in-law for a moment.

"A steep price indeed."

She said, her mind calculating the cost. Giving Kelly control of Mystech wasn't so bad, really. Haleigh may not have trusted Kelly with any of their lives, but in the lab, Kelly was second to none. If she had ambition to improve Mystech, it would benefit Haleigh and all the rest of them as well. But Erika as her Princess..... that was highly undesirable. She would basically be in Ava's boat, with a borderline insane underling that had no loyalty and the propensity to undermine her. It was not a hassle Haleigh wanted to sign up for. But to give Cameron something he wanted....

"You will keep your daughter in check. If it comes to a conflict between me and my 'princess'..... you will side with ME. And if she rises against me, Cam, or our future heir.... YOU will strike her down, or your corpse will lie beside hers. Do we have a deal?"

His eyes widened. He wanted to stop looking. This was Ava's moment. She was announcing a Black King. This was a big day for her, but his mind wouldn't stop. Cameron felt anger and rage for Haleigh giving his mother what she wanted, but...he also felt elated. Cameron was like most men. He wanted to spread his seed. He wanted to create life. He wanted a son that he could groom, free from the hands of his mother, only under the guidance of himself and his Queen. He wanted a son to carry on his legacy, to become a King of legend. One that would take over the world in such a blaze of glory that the world forgot how it was once ran and only pledged allegiance to him. But Haleigh couldn't have children. That had it's benefits. They could truly be free. They didn't have to worry about mistakes, their sex life was a stoplight that was always green. That was her nature. The only thing she claimed allegiance to was him, and vice versa. But he would NEVER govern her body..it was hers to do what she wanted with..but that was easy to agree with when his wife had been infertile.

Talisman said:
She began to head towards the door.

"You can now give the gift of life, Haleigh. Do not forget the responsibility that comes with..You can no longer be as impulsive as you'd like..not without consequence. But welcome to being a woman, I guess. My legacy and my son's legacy is now squarely in your hands. Remember that.."

The words hit him in a more real way than he would have liked, and it was those words his mother spoke that let him know that she was testing Haleigh's loyalty to him, and while he had half a mind to destroy his mother for such a BOLD and BRAZEN move without his approval...it was impressive. Haleigh and Cameron lived their life without limits, and he loved it, but there WAS a part of him that enjoyed a bit of convention. But a baby now meant there WERE limits..that Haleigh HAD to be careful with herself...especially if she became pregnant. Suddenly, he couldn't decide if he was angry at her for letting his mother anywhere near her body in such a way, or deeply...and painfully grateful and humbled that his Queen made the decision to give Cameron what he wanted so quickly and without question. She loved him that much, and if he would have been in private, there might have been a tear falling from his face. But he was very much in public and he pulled from Haleigh's mind as Ava rose to speak.

Persephone said:

His wife. His mother. His sister. His potential child. All melted away when he saw Ava stand there with her KING, beaming with pride. Hellfire was a hell of a lot of fun, but there not many moments of pure and true unadulterated happiness..well at least for those who were not the White Queen and King. He was happy to see Ava in a true moment of happy. And he could feel it radiating from her. The only blemish on a perfect moment was the laughable gestures of The Black Princess. He could tell that she was trying, but bursting out in tears and reminiscing on fond times before before cheering out to the crowd was a little much. His eyes met Amanda's for a moment, who seemed less than thrilled.

Ashley: "We're gonna need shots over here!"

The White King's eyes turned to Ashley..and her pain shot out to him like a beacon. Her Ava was celebrating her new found love and partner in crime, ready to rule the world together. Then there was the perpetually happy Cameron and Haleigh who were united like no other. The Red Court was going through a war of the roses of sorts. Ashley and Alek hated each other, barely spoke, and fought when they did. Alek was very good at concealing his emotion, but to be honest, Cameron had seen the man fuck his wife enough times to know that he was in pain. Ashley was more straight forward. Everybody thought she kept everything in, and acted erratically, gruff at times. Cameron saw her very clearly, and when his eyes settled on Alek, he was a bit surprised at the feelings he felt.

"Alek..."

Cameron had been more than willing, if not encouraging of the Red King's relationship with his wife. She enjoyed him very much so, and it was clear that he did as well. But Alek often skirted a line with Cameron. The Red King was so sure of Haleigh's desire for him, that he often took her wherever and whenever he wanted, without so much as a thank you to her King. Haleigh may have been very drawn to Alek, but should Cameron want it so, Alek would not exist to her. Cameron knew that if he played that card with his wife, she would be unhappy, and that was something he didn't entertain. He also knew that Alek would not take no for an answer. His manhood was entirely centered around his cock, and while that was attractive, it gave the King pause to say the least. He would pursue her regardless. And in watching The Red Queen's silent pain as well as Alek's eyes on his wife, he became clear on what would need to be done. But that would come later. For now, he rose calling attention to the crowd.

"I'd love to make this short and sweet, but Ava..you know that isn't me.."

He smirked and rose a glass to her.

"Ava Cassadine is family to me. I've stacked blocks with her in the study, danced with her at boarding school dances, visited her in college abroad...and built an empire with her the likes of which the world has never SEEN.."

[cocking his head to the side]

"Or will ever see again."

He smiled at his mother as he spoke, before turning back to the crowd.

"Kings are relatively a new concept here in American Hellfire, and I for one hope we stick around!"

[laughing]

"One thing we've tried to do here in this club of ours is promote the beauty of PARTNERSHIP and DIPLOMACY in all aspects of our heirarchy, and the rewards we have reaped with this guiding principle in mind, well..."

The White King gestured to the scenery around them, the giant scape of the mansion and the beautiful court members that it contained.

"They speak for themselves. No man, or woman in this case, is an island, despite how much we wish it so. The burden of the throne is a great one, one that only a handful of people in this room understand. To rule effectively, it is paramount that you have somebody next to you that you can respect. Somebody who understands you. Who's loyalty is undying and unwaivering. John is every one of those things."

The White King enjoyed speeches, if only because it stroked his ego to have so many eyes on him at once.

"He has represented The Black Court in the highest of ways over the year, with a strong hand and uncompromising logic. I have no doubt that these skills, coupled with Ava's established and decorated reign, will bring their court together in a way that is rare...and beautiful. This announcement comes in good timing to those around us who might require guidance. Who might question what the result of the work here they do is. THIS is it. Hard work pays off. Loyalty pays off. The keys to our kingdom come in many ways, and today...? We extend a set of those keys..without question..to JOHN STEELE. The White Court salutes you!"

Cameron gave a gesture and a nod to both Ava and John as his wife and the rest of the white court stood giving their exalted congratulations. Cameron eyed the crowd as he possessed the member of the wait staff bringing drinks over to The Red Queen, who looked ready to get very drunk. As the waiter sat down the tray, he would whisper to The Red Queen.

Waiter: "The White King requests your presence. Two hours. The White King's study."

The White King broke the connection and returned to the beautiful scene around him, knowing he was about to be in for a hell of a lot of speeches. He gripped his wife's hand tightly and spoke into her mind.

[to Haleigh:] "Think of the reception they will give our son when he becomes king."
