"I.... I don't know. When I said she'd get a message, I assumed it would be in..... Ones and Zeroes or something and we'd need a decoder ring to figure out where and when to attack. Why would she send this? How could this be her message? Why isn't there any SOUND? Is she trying to tell us she CAN'T communicate directly? Did you see anything staged in the background?"

She shook her head.

“I’ll scrub the footage. [pause] Later.”

Zizi blushed.

“We’ll find something. Maybe the message is in the editing, somehow…or the underlying video file code…”

She was going through all the ways that Haleigh might be using this as a message to them. One that wasn’t cruel and heartless.

Andrew: “Hey, Zizi, can I get a copy of that?”

Before she could reply, she heard a door click open and Ashley slowly came towards them. She looked terrible. Her eyes were puffy, her face streaked, hair a jumble. She had changed into gray sweatpants and a hoodie. Zizi wasn’t sure if that was a good sign or a bad one.

Ashley: “What’s going on?”

She said softly.

Andrew: “We’re watching a video of Black Widow drilling some Hellfire dude. She sent it to Zach’s phone.”

Zizi let out an exasperated sigh.

“Andrew, a little propriety, please.”

Ashley’s whole body froze. Zizi shook her head.

“No, Ashley.”

Ashley: “Show me the video.”

“I already deleted it.”

Ashley turned to Zach, looking and sounding calm, but she could tell there was a storm brewing.

Ashley: “Zach, give me your phone.”

“Ashley-“

And then her anger boiled over.

Ashley: “GIVE ME YOUR FUCKING PHONE!”

She shouted at him and he relented. She quietly stood there, watching the whole thing. And when it was over she went to window, opened it, and with all her might threw the phone out of the window before storming back to her room.

“BUY HIM A NEW ONE ZEES.”

And she slammed the door.

Ava exited the bathroom wrapped in a dark red town, steam escaping out into the bedroom. Her chocolate locks were darker now as they clung damp to her shoulders, and there were now only a few prominent cuts and scratches on her body and face where the blood had hidden them before. Walking to her bedroom door, she had heard a gentle two tap knock when she was in the tub and what sounded like someone putting something down. Opening the door, she looked down and saw some food wrapped and waiting for her. Although she wasn't particularly hungry she took it anyway and looked down the hall toward the Red Knights room. He was a unique one, in and out of bed.

Shutting the door behind her, Ava walked over to her bed and place the food on the nightstand table. Dropping the towel, she flipped the corner of the comforter down and climbed under the blanket. Sinking into the plush pillows, she let her eyes fall shut while listening to the crackling of the fireplace.

BUZZ

[grumbling] "What NOW."

Her eyes snapped opened and head rolling to the side to see her cell phone illuminated on the nightstand next to her food. Grabbing it, she saw a text from Helena.

Lovely job....it was like something or someone completely took over you. [wink emoji] This is the Persephone I need. Now don't fuck it up.

Ava's eyes narrowed, smug bitch.

Text: Glad you enjoyed the show. Hope it was as satisfying for you as it was for me.

Three little dot bubbles popped up indicating Helena was in the midst of writing her back. Immediately there after a single kiss lips emoji appeared and the conversation was over. Ava tossed her phone onto the bed and rolled over to get comfortable. Closing her eyes again, the next person who interrupted her was going to die.

Zizi: I’ll scrub the footage.

Zach stopped pacing. He didn't think he could stomach watching that again.

Zizi: Later.

He breathed a sigh of relief, and then felt a little guilty for wanting to pass the buck on THAT illustrious task.

Zizi: We’ll find something. Maybe the message is in the editing, somehow…or the underlying video file code…

He nodded, encouraged by her outside-the-box thinking. He stared at his phone screen, trying to formulate a response. What the actual fuck SHOULD one say when his ex-fiance who was undercover in the most evil organization known sends him violent porn with a top secret message hidden in it? Anything he came up with sounded stupid. They'd been together for YEARS, how could he fail to understand what she was trying to tell him?

Andrew: Hey, Zizi, can I get a copy of that?

How long had Andrew been standing there?

"Are you SERIOUS??"

Ashley: What’s going on?

Zach's head swiveled. Ashley looked like an exact representation of the way he wanted to let himself FEEL right now. She was a hot mess. Zach wondered who had the power to strike the self-possessed Valkyrie in the heart. He immediately wanted to hug her. Andrew answered her question, and Zizi gently suggested propriety. Zach might have thought she did that for HIS benefit, but he noticed Ashley's body language stiffen. What followed was a short exchange where Zizi tried to prevent Ashley from seeing the video. Zach knew instantly that there was only one reason Zizi would care if Ashley saw the video: seeing the Red Knight would cause her pain.

Ashley: Zach, give me your phone.

Zizi: Ashley-

He hesitated, pressing his phone against his chest and looking at her cautiously. He felt a sharp spike in her anger.

Ashley: GIVE ME YOUR FUCKING PHONE!

He let the air out of his lungs, handing the phone over with a somber expression. He watched her as the video played, his concern evident. Was it HER heartbreak he was feeling, or his own? Like Zizi, he cared enough about Ashley that he didn't want her to be in pain. She threw his phone out the window, telling Zizi to buy him a new one, but really if he was going to be getting anymore messages from Haleigh like this last one, he didn't WANT another phone, so maybe she'd done him a favor.

What really made him ANGRY right now, was the fact that even if that jackass Berserker HADN'T forced himself on Haleigh, his actions hurt Ashley, and Zach didn't like it when somebody hurt his friends-- especially his friends that came with benefits. She stormed back into her room and slammed the door. He looked at Zizi, then at Andrew. Wordlessly he strode over to the bedroom door. She had slammed it but not locked it. He slipped in and shut the door behind him.

"So, will you help me murder the Red Knight? Because he obviously deserves it."

Cameron:"Cassandra...we bend, we sprain, we fall, we hit the ground hard...but The Six? We DON'T break. Not completely. That's what makes us different from the other guys."

“Well it certainly feels like we’re broken.”

Cameron: "Thank You for that."

:: Cass shrugged. She really didn’t care what others did in each other’s beds or wherever. It wasn’t her business. ::

Cameron said:
"Cass.."

"We do need them, you're right..but"

[he spoke evenly, though he gave a bit more emotion to her than he had given either Alycia and Sharon just a few moments earlier]

"Something that you have to understand about being a member of The Six..is that we don't hold membership drives. We've never made people be a part of all of this. We SHOULD have told them about the truce the night we found out..we failed them on that account...but all of them? At some point they made the CHOICE to join league with us, to be a part of our world..and they all KNEW the danger that came along with it. Every single one of them...they had an out. For ALL of us...there has been an opening, a time that we could make a CLEAN break and leave. Never look back."

"We who stand as members of The Six..we feel a LOT of guilt..all the time for the things that happened to them under our watch, or because of their association with us. Personally? I can deal with it. I've gone to great lengths to try and make up for all this collective guilt we've felt over the years. We pulled them closer because what other choice did we have? They weren't seeming to go anywhere and we felt that they would be safer with us. Whether or not that was the right decision, well that doesn't just fall squarely on members of The Six."

"That truce..it could have been broken at any second by any side. I was never a part of that decision..and I was forced to work alongside a woman who took everything from me. I had another sister, you know, Cass. Erika..."

:: His mind wandered for a moment before he quickly forced it back into reality. Some thing were better left not thought about. ::

"She was a bit like you. Good hearted. She worked so hard to try and get Alison and I together. Helped us destroy our mother when she came back to kill us. Malice warped her mind, used her against me..used my sister to kill me. And then The Six had to kill her. This of course was after she had had driven my mother to the brink of insanity years before. She vexes me at every turn, she thinks I'm her alpha prey..but I didn't break that truce. Because I knew it helped to protect THEM. So much of the way that we operate now has been because what has happened to THEM. Often times to the point that we forego what WE want, we hide our OWN feelings..because we will forever be punished for thinking that we could have a life...or happiness..or relationships that weren't a part of the eternal and DEEP family war that's been waging since we were all BORN.."

:: Cass didn’t know about Erika. Or, if she was told about her, she forgot. She bowed her head at Cameron’s words. For a LONG time after her captivity in Germany, she felt much as he did, that she had to squash her desires and such BECAUSE she had been ‘brainwashed’ into thinking that she didn’t deserve to have a life; that she DIDN’T deserve to be happy. ::

And so it continues, that cycle…

Cameron said:
"I don't think they realized that the second they joined league with The Birds of Prey..they weren't a PART of that truce anymore. The truce was between The Sisterhood and The Six. Not between The Sisterhood and every person that The Six has ever encountered and taking a liking to. All those people...Steel? Valkyrie? Oracle. They've been fair game since the team's incarnation. They didn't WANT to be members of The Six any longer..so they weren't Cass. That means that they might NOT get all the information. Because we ARE two separate arms...as many of their members have enjoyed pointing out from time to time."

"We owed them an explanation, but for them to be so indignant? When they've picked up their own swords and knowingly joined in on this war? Well..things happen. House of cards fall all the time, and often time, in these kinds of wars, you don't have much time to figure things out. They deserved to know...but we deserved to mourn. We deserved a moment after what happened. Their suffering might continue to happen because of us, but we are always going to be the ones to end it as well."

:: He sighed ::

"So if they hate me right now...hate US for not telling them, so be it. There will come a point where we have no choice but to work together and we will. But...all of this change has made me realize a few things. I've more than paid my membership dues to this team. I have put in the work, and I have done what needs to be done...and I'm going to continue to do so...and I'm not going to feel bad about it anymore..and I'm not going to let ANYBODY make me feel anything LESS than that. I can't afford to anymore. Those kind of emotions because weakness to be preyed upon, and I'm done being prey, Cass..”

:: Cameron squeezed her hand and shot a sincere and serious look at her. ::

"I promise that they will come around. They've simply just found out about this. It's going to take some time. But I promise. And outside of all this...Cassandra, I need you to know, that I'm not going anywhere. I'm here for you if you need it. Just like when that crazy nun attacked and tried to kill us. And I need you. I need you to help keep Blaze here, get her to come around to things. I need you to be the oil can around here..."

:: Cass looked thoughtful. ::

“They may be separate from the Six, and they do have that right, I guess, BUT all this bickering back and forth and fighting and such…we CAN’T have that.”

:: Cass sighed and turned her body towards Cameron. ::

“The way I see things is that Malice thinks she’s got ACES. And because of Haleigh and, uh…KELLY, she probably thinks she’s on the winning side. Right at this moment, she’s probably right. If we can ever hope to defeat those people…we’re going to have to work WITH the Birds of Prey, and vice versa, to WIN.”

:: Cass smirked. ::

“At least, that’s how *I* see it.”

Vivica: "CAMERON MICHAEL KING! YOU LITTLE BITCH! WHERE ARE YOU!?!!"

Cameron: "You better get out of here. Looks like my beatings aren't done for the evening."

:: Cass stood up and was about to leave when Vivi came barrelling down the hallway. Cass could ALMOST see the smoke coming out of her ears. Cass backed up just in time for Vivica to SMACK Cameron in the face with ALL her might. Vivica then turned and gave Cass a twisted smile. ::

Vivica: “Oh hey, Cassandra! Good to see you girl!”

:: In other words…NOT. Cass backed up to the opposite wall and her eyes widened as Vivica RIPPED Cameron a new one. Cass started to sneak away when Vivica said THIS… ::

Vivica: "I have spent the night dodging a HIT ON MY LIFE taken out by the Hellfire Club and carried out by it's new Red Rook. That's right, the literal piece of walking human garbage that is Ava Cassadine! That's right! The bitch came after myself and Simon, and because you were too caught in your stupid little man feelings over Haleigh Davidoff. I found myself unprepared and almost MURDERED!"

:: Cass FROZE in her tracks. All the blood ran from her face, leaving her very PALE. She literally fell to the ground in shock. ::

*shocked whisper*: ”Ava…”

:: Vivica continued to read Cameron a couple of riot acts, but Cass was no longer listening. AVA betrayed the team as well? AVA CASSADINE? And Cass couldn’t even PRETEND that she only left to convince Haleigh to come back to the Six because of her attack on her [Cass] good friend as well as Simon. ::

AVA? Ava’s…GONE?!

:: She could only stare at both Cameron and Vivica, too stunned by the news of Ava’s betrayal to even MOVE. ::

Vivica: "You are no friend to me, Cameron. No family. I don't know when it happened? But somewhere along the way..by your hand. We became strangers. No. DON'T touch me. Don't MOVE. Don't say ANYTHING. Don't make this anything OTHER than what it is.and what it is... Is me saying goodbye to you. Whatever part of me you might have had is no longer there. For all intents and purposes, we're divorced. And if the people in this building continue to be as much as a MISERABLE fuck up as you have been? They'll be strangers too and I will see to it that The SIX will be out of OPTIONS...and allies."

:: Vivi then whirled around to make eye contact with Cass before strutting back down the hallway like a freaking supermodel. Cass stared at the retreating back of her friend before turning her dazed blue eyes on Cameron. ::

“AVA…is gone now TOO?”

:: And then it hit her again: the Six family has been BROKEN. It was bad enough that HALEIGH betrayed them…but AVA? As the realization of what that meant dawned on her, her heart began to break for her friends. ALISON was Ava’s best friend. If she knew, and she probably did, why didn’t she try to stop her? And CAMERON… Cass knew how close they both were. Cass let out a strangled cry. She crawled over to Cameron and gave him a big hug. ::

*whispers*: ”Cameron…I’m so sorry! I’M SO SORRY!”

:: She hugged him tighter. ::

The Parthenon- Dominique's diamond suite

“We DO love her Sharon – she’s our teammate. How could we not? And Cameron does love her. I’m sorry, but he does. Maybe it’s better now…that he’s stopped pretending he doesn’t. It wasn’t fair to Alycia, for that to go on, even if nothing had happened.”

She shook her head.

“But his timing could have been better.”

[ Sharon softened her facial expression, and mentally commanded her silver eye mask to disappear. She looks at Delilah]

Delilah, the love and sense of family that you have for Haleigh is NOT the same PERVERSION that Cameron has. It's not the same bizarre fascination with her that the MEN on this team AND the Birds of Prey have with her.

Cameron REVELS in this perverse, disrespectful, OBSECENE dynamic that he has with that woman...and thinks he's ENTITLED to it. Like it's something GOOD and JUST! He thinks that 100 good deeds can somehow MASK the MASSIVE transgression that he has committed against Alycia, and that no one is entitled to question or confront him on his behavior?

NO! I don't care what he says, WHAT pathetic, self absorbed excuses he concocted in his warped mind regarding his SICK obsession with Haleigh Davidoff, and the way he hurt Alycia. When MY friends are in distress, it IS my business.

This isn't the first time the two of them did this either. I SAW the two of them PAWING at each other in his kitchen the very NIGHT he was rescued by the purifiers, while ALYCIA was in the same building! It's not JUST him. It's HER. Being a HYPOCRITE is the LEAST of her faults. She's NEVER had any respect for anybody else's relationships, yet she was IRATE when she learned that Zach and I were once intimate, before he even KNEW her?

[ On to the issue of Haleigh herself]

“Haleigh didn’t leave the Six to betray us. She did it to PROTECT us. Haleigh broke the truce: she sought Malice out and attacked her. Malice KILLED her and stuck her mind back in some clone body. Haleigh – stupidly, I agree – thinks that by giving Malice what she wants, namely HER, that Malice will leave the Six alone. Or at least that it will buy us some time. Ava must have…followed Haleigh to protect HER. We didn’t know about Ava. At least I didn’t.”

Delilah put her head in her hands. What the hell were they going to do now?

She looked up with frustration.

“What the hell are they DOING? Why are they doing this? How can this be better?”

[ Sighing, Sharon slowly paced back and forth]

Haleigh probably did exactly what Malice wanted her to do. She wanted the TRUCE to be ended, by the hand of someone in the Six, and she got it. But consider this...WHY didn't Haleigh TELL anyone what she was planning to do, as IF there werent enough people who would've been willing to join her in her "KILL, MALICE!" endeavor!? After she opened the doors to her own destruction, and left ALL of us in danger, she decides that GIVING herself to Malice will be enough to STOP what she set in motion!?

Delilah...you, Dominique, and myself...we KNOW that there's nothing Haleigh could do to protect ANYONE from Malice. I know better than ANYONE in this room what happens when Malice sets her sights on someone...and his or her family. Haleigh is a FOOL if she thinks that SHE is ENOUGH to satisfy Malice. You CAN'T satisfy a BLACK HOLE!

[ She SHOUTS]

Malice now POSSESSES Haleigh, and will USE her, then deconstruct her, and watch her DESTROY herself...and then to make sure there's no loose ends...she'll simply destroy the body.

Things have CHANGED at the Hellfire Club, Delilah. Malice has swelled the ranks of the Inner Circle, including Kelly Shaw, Tasliman, replacing Isis as the Black Queen. HALEIGH is now Malice's WHITE PRINCESS, while Persephone is Enchantrah's Red Rook! There are others as well. I saw them myself, the night of the Black Out party. VIPER is alive again, as well. The Inner Circle and their associates are a UNITED front with POWER and AGGRESSION to match, lead by that souless woman who is the ultimate predator, Malice.

I CONFRONTED Haleigh....and she not only SPIT on whatever memory/feeling she had for the Six, she DECLARED that she BELONGED with her mother, the Hellfire Club. She didn't have an OUNCE of remorse OR distress in her during that confrontation. You know my power, I would have DETECTED any deception on her part. There was NONE. She HAS betrayed ALL of us, Delilah. She went to the very woman responsible for the never ending NIGHTMARES we've all been facing.

Persephone's attack on Vivica and Simon was only the FIRST strike. There is more to come....and CAMERON is walking around here acting like he's ENTITLED to be this disgusting, dishonorable creature because he was HURT!?

He tried to INTIMIDATE me and Alycia with his power...He's LUCKY that the ONLY I did was SLAP him into the wall and break his jaw! I told him to STAY AWAY from Alycia, and I'll do WHAETVER I have to in order to protect her from being hurt by EITHER of those two.

I ALSO told HALEIGH that if she HURT ANY of MY friends, I'd drag her out of that mansion BY HER HAIR and BEAT HER into the ground myself!

The Clocktower

Ashley laid on her bed on her side, one hand tucked her pillow. And godammit she was crying again. That motherfucker.

It’s not like she didn’t KNOW he was fucking her. Her and her cunt of a sister. BOTH of them. Probably at the same time. But seeing it…

And it really wasn’t even that he was fucking them. It was that he wasn’t fucking HER.

Zach said:
"So, will you help me murder the Red Knight? Because he obviously deserves it."

She didn’t turn to look at him.

“Go away, Zach.”

And after a pause.

“And if it were that easy I would have done it already.”

She wiped her face.

“Just leave me alone – you can’t fix me, Zach. Zizi has already tried. I am fucked up and I always will be. You don’t get to come in here and give me a pep talk and I turn into little mary sunshine. Real life doesn’t work like that. I should know.”

She curled up more into the fetal position.

“So go back out there and bake some cookies or figure out how you’re going to kiss Sharon’s ass enough to get here to come back here, or make a plan to get your bitch of an ex back. I don’t give a damn, just leave me out of it.”

The Parthenon - Dominique’s Suite

Sharon was VERY angry. Almost unreasonably so. Delilah got her anger at Cameron – hell, she wasn’t happy with him herself. But Sharon knew Cameron wasn’t some disgusting piece of filth. And the same with Haleigh. It was like someone had turned Silver Swan up to eleven.

Sharon said:
He thinks that 100 good deeds can somehow MASK the MASSIVE transgression that he has committed against Alycia, and that no one is entitled to question or confront him on his behavior?

“He doesn’t think that, Sharon. He will be hating himself right now for what he did to Alycia. And I’m not saying he shouldn’t. He was wrong and he definitely should hate himself for it. But he didn’t do this to hurt her. He doesn’t think he deserves her, Sharon. He doesn’t think he’s a good enough person. And THAT is why he is so drawn to Haleigh: the two everyone discounted, hated – tried to kill. The only person that doesn’t make him feel like he isn’t good enough.”

Sharon said:
WHY didn't Haleigh TELL anyone what she was planning to do, as IF there werent enough people who would've been willing to join her in her "KILL, MALICE!" endeavor!?

Delilah gave Sharon a look that said the answer was obvious.

“You know Haleigh as well as I do – she would NEVER ask us to go up against Malice for her. She would not ALLOW any of us to be sacrificed. She thought she was being noble by taking it all on her own shoulders.”

She shook her head.

“Idiocy. But she wouldn’t listen. She NEVER listens.”

Sharon said:

“And I AGREE with you. And I told Haleigh that very thing. This ‘plan’ of hers is a fool’s errand. But she is so damn stubborn-“

Like someone else I know.

Sharon said:
She HAS betrayed ALL of us, Delilah. She went to the very woman responsible for the never ending NIGHTMARES we've all been facing.

“No.”

Delilah looked Sharon in the eyes.

“She would never betray us. She may be with them. And we very well may have to kill her. But I will not believe that Haleigh has turned from us in her heart. She may shut down her emotions. She may be forced to attack us. But she hates Malice as much as the rest of us, if not more. HALEIGH would die for us. And that might very well be her plan.”

She looked off into the distance.

“I’m not stupid, Sharon. I know that a reckoning is coming, and Ava and Haleigh are going to be on the other side of it. But I won’t hate them. I’ve spent too long hating people for doing the wrong thing for the right reasons…”

Ashley: Go Away, Zach.

"Oh.... uh, okay."

He said, even as he walked over to sit on the other side of the bed, behind Ashley. She didn't roll over.

Ashley: And if it were that easy I would have done it already.

This was the absolute dregs of being an empath. To absorb it he had to feel it, and that often meant taking pain. He reached over and placed a hand on her shoulder anyway, because he couldn't stand to watch someone suffer.

"Well do you think we can castrate him then? Because I have NO qualms about giving that a try."

Ashley: Just leave me alone – you can’t fix me, Zach. Zizi has already tried. I am fucked up and I always will be.

Zach gave a commiserating scoff.

"Yeah, me too--"

Ashley: You don’t get to come in here and give me a pep talk and I turn into little mary sunshine. Real life doesn’t work like that. I should know.

"Yeah, tell me about it."

But she didn't want to tell him about it. She was being stubborn, and it was immensely frustrating.

Ashley: So go back out there and bake some cookies or figure out how you’re going to kiss Sharon’s ass enough to get here to come back here, or make a plan to get your bitch of an ex back. I don’t give a damn, just leave me out of it.

He sighed loudly, and kicked off his shoes. Then he laid down next to her and wrapped his arm around her. All balled up, she was easy to pull into his chest. It was the most awkward cuddling ever but he didn't care.

"You know what? I think you've got the right idea, let's just hole up in here and have some peace. I don't WANT Sharon to come back and yell at me right now. And Haleigh? Fuck. I can't even approach the idea without losing my fucking cool. So I understand if you don't want to talk about why you feel so horrible right now. But if you're just going to lay here, then I'm just going to lay here for a while too, because I have had a REALLY shitty day and misery loves company and I'm tired of adulting."

The Parthenon- Isis' Diamond suite

:: The revelations of Cameron King's foolish behavior were very disappointing to Dominique. In the back of her mind, she felt that he was always being a bit pretentious in his dealings with HER. She suspected that was part of why he felt he could even broach the topic of him being SPONSORED by her for membership to the Black Court at the time. But after she shot that idea down, she felt that she'd seen a more genuine and substantial aspect of him. He COULD be thoughtful, creative, and even CHARMING. But like most people...reinvention alone was NEVER enough to escape the demons that plagued the heart and the soul. SHE knew that from her own journey when she lost her way, and sought to use the power of Isis to DESTROY Nicolas in an attempt to avenge her sister, RATHER than PROTECT him and TEACH him, as the goddess had decreed.::

:: Cameron would have to suffer the consequences of his actions...one way or another...and no amount of telepathy or magick was going to let him escape it. When this was all over, more than a few people, some even in this very room, might be DEAD, and some relationships might be FOREVER lost. IF he survived, he would have to live with what he'd done, the relationships and bridges he burned, and would he be able to say it was "WORTH IT" then? After what Sharon said, Dominique suspected that he might be the one person so foolish and STUBBORN enough to do just that. But HE was not her problem, he never would be and if he TRIED her, OR threatened Nicolas in someway, she'd VANQUISH him::

:: Speaking of Nicolas....she EYED her nephew quite intensely just now...::

Nicolas sighed. The logic was not terrible, but it was incomplete.

Look Aunt D, you are right. I was not in a great place when you found me today and that is a situation we remedied and now stand to safeguard against going forward. But I cannot leave Delilah or Morgan...Mike...Blaze, Ma, even Cam when he has messed up. Now is not a time to run off. I promise to be open to evaluating things over time and I will stay checked in more often, but I have responsibilities here. If things are messed up here, I must take responsibility to make them better, and I cannot do it from the Clocktower.

:: Dominique did not seem moved by this. She looked at Richard for a moment, sensing his own displeasure, but it was for other reasons- namely the idea of having to "SHARE" Dominique with Nicolas. But she could hardly allow herself to dote on Richard just now, not while her nephew was being hard headed. She gave Nicolas a disapproving look and was about to reprimand him...::

Rampage said:
C'mon Auntie. we don't try to do what's right because it is easy or safe. I love Morgan and if I go somewhere, it will be TO her, not away from her when she or our family could need me. I will do better. And while that does not please you right now, it has to be sufficient. I will make sure that it is. OK?
Rampage said:
It would not be what she wanted to hear, but his courage in the face of danger when Dominique was urging discretion would remind her of her sister, who bravely gave her life for him rather than give him up as Isis had suggested.

This is out of the question.

:: Dominique says as she shakes her head, and yet...she couldn't help but remember having a similar kind of conversation with her beloved sister, when she alternated between begging and DEMANDING that her sister terminate the pregenancy from Set, KNOWING what would happen to her if she gave birth to Nicolas. Her sister refused...and stood strong on her beliefs on why she should NOT abort. It PAINED Dominique...but...she marveled at her sister's courage, her strength and serenity. The look on her face and in her eyes SLOWLY began to change from one of disapproval and anger...to one of sympathy...::

He's SINCERE in his conviction. He truly wishes to REMAIN with these people. He cares about them...LOVES them...and MORGAN. These people...he finds them to be NECESSARY to his LIFE!

Nicolas...

Delilah went to stand at Nicolas’ side and put a hand on his shoulder.

“Dominique, you’re right, we haven’t been a team in a long time. And some of that is my fault. But I’m here now, and things WILL be made right with us. Nicolas is one of us and – I’m sorry – but you can’t just summon him home like a naughty child when things get tough. He needs to be here. We need him here.”

:: Delilah Trelevan. Dominique had come to know her in a different way, when they became closer personal allies in the battle against the Purifiers. Yes, Dominique DID blame MorningStar for some of the strife and turmoil that had left the six so VULNERABLE to this latest, and perhaps most deadly blow to this team. And yet...she too had been through a TERRIBLE ordeal that Dominique wouldn't have wished on her worst enemy! To see her NOW, looking and sounding different than the last time they were together, to see how clear and focused she was, and how certain she sounded as she stood by Nicolas, affirming HIM and his belonging with the Six, Dominique couldn't ignore this. She respected Delilah, and she cared for her nephew. She wasn't here to hurt him. She only wanted to PROTECT him.::

... Nicolas, you sound like your mother...my sister.

:: She looks away for a moment.::

Even in the face of such terrible odds, you are aware, and possess courage. You demonstrate love and loyalty, and a willingness to stand in the gap. These are things that your mother displayed even when I told her what fate awaited her after what Set did to her...

:: She closes her eyes for a moment, and tears fall. Its one of the FIRST times she's displayed this kind of emotion in front of Nicolas, let alone one of his teammates, or even her own teammates.::

:: Sighing, she quickly conjures a hankerchief and dabs her eyes::

I didn't come here to hurt you. I WAS prepared to take you away from here...by FORCE if necessary, only to PROTECT YOU, and ensure that this DARKNESS that is falling not only over the Six, but also the Birds of Prey, would not be an opportunity for SET to break loose from the prison I banished him to.

I did NOT like what I saw when I found you. And I am STILL angry with you for your behavior, your NOT checking in with ME as you should have. But you have acknowledged your failure, and we have made an agreement that I EXPECT you to abide by.

I see you now...and I know that your mother would be OVERCOME with pride if she could see you in this moment, mirroring HER and the qualities that made her so special.

:: She looks at Delilah::

I owe you for coming to my aid when the purifers attacked me with the black lotus blossom. I have heard you, Delilah, and I will leave my nephew here. He has chosen to make and share his life with this team...and I see now that his presence IS valued.

:: She looks back at Nicolas, a bit more sternly this time::

But I WILL be watching.

:: After another moment of that stern look, she holds out her hands, and embraces her nephew...more tightly than he'd ever recalled her doing so before::

Know that the Six is NOT in this alone. Lives are in danger in a whole new way. Many relationships have been strained, some BROKEN, due to the choices and actions of Haleigh Davidoff, Cameron King and Ava Cassadine, but the consequenses and implications of those actions don't just affect this team, they are spread out to OTHERS as well. WE have a stake in this, and we will be INVOLVED.

You can let Cameron know that HE is not calling the shots, nor will WE be doing his leg work for him. But we WILL protect those that we care about, INCLUDING ourselves.

Sharon, Alycia, Richard and Myself will take our leave from here now.

:: Looking at Delilah::

One last thing, a reminder...if you ever need me, you have but to call out, and I will come as quickly as I can.

The Parthenon - Top Floor

:: It was like being hit with a freight train. Her anger was unbridled and it wasn't unjustified. What could he do in this situation but let her speak? Let her get off her chest what she needed to. He owed her a lot more than that. As numb as he was in this moment, the night was starting to wear on him. He knew they would seek him out. He knew that they would give him their rage, they always did. He expected it at this point. He hadn't counted on Vivica doing the same, which was part of the problem. He had isolated her for a long time. He had put his focus on The Six and left her in the dust. When they spoke a few months ago at The Parthenon about topics of the same variety, he could tell that she wasn't satisfied. He wanted her in that moment to drill into him, to really give him what he deserved and she didn't...because she was a far better person than he was. When he looked at Vivica now in this moment, as she stampeded him, berated him and beat him with her fists...he was oddly proud of her. She had completely transformed, found her place in this world, a place that didn't necessarily involve him and she was better than ever. All of this had been possible because she had finally put focus in on her own life. ::

"I could have died tonight, Cameron. And what would you have done then? Oh I know..you would take yet another opportunity to prove to the world just how HARD you have it and prove WHY they should continue to love you and forgive your flaws. I would have been some kind of SOAP BOX for you to get EVEN CLOSER to them, and you wouldn't have given me another THOUGHT! Well, unless it was to use the PAIN of my death to GET you something."

:: There were things he could have said to her. How she had taken care of him all of these years because she didn't want to take care of herself. How Cameron had always been her comfort blanket as well. As a young girl, Vivica was painfully shy and Cameron was often her buffer for the world. She wouldn't normally be the first woman to speak, but having somebody like him, somebody social and boisterous, by proxy, it made others accept her more easily. It made her more comfortable. He often pushed her to put herself out there. They had taken care of each other. The opportunities that she had in life were because of him and vice versa. He had helped her through her mother's death and when she begged to help him with his own work, to get her mind off her own life, he let her. And maybe that had been his mistake. She seemed happy to do so. She seemed poised and ready to help him take his business to new heights. The Six HAD changed all of that. He had finally found his biological family and was thrown into a life of chaos and danger. He assumed by that point in their lives, that she didn't need him as much as she used to need him, but it was clear that she did. She had made her entire identity by carving out a place at his side. That was her fault. But he should have noticed these cracks in their relationship a lot earlier than he did..but he didn't, because Vivica was right. He was only concerned with himself. ::

Recall said:
"You had every opportunity to tell me, Cameron. And I was NOWHERE in your mind. And SPARE me the monologue I'm sure you have prepared about how losing Haleigh was so hard and how you just needed to grieve and get your mind together. You never HAD Haleigh. She was engaged to Zach. She's BEEN with ZACH. For ALL of these YEARS! You two only WANT each other because everybody tells you that you shouldn't..that you CANT be with each other."

:: His self concern came from a lot of different places. Self preservation at a good amount of time living on the streets of Los Angeles. Not ever truly being able to feel safe around Vivica's family, because he was worried that he didn't deserve them, or at some point he would, like he always did, do something so stupid that they would turn their backs. Over the years, Cameron realized that he often fucked up on purpose, because he would rather confirm what people assumed they know about him than to really put his heart out there, be who he really was and still be considered just as "ugly". ::

:: Haleigh was the only person he had ever shown his true self to, and she hadn't ran away, or made him feel like disgusting monster he often times believed that he was. So it made sense that of course everybod thought SHE was a monster. It also made sense that she would always otherwise entangled or out of his reach. That was just the painful irony of his life. He got what he wanted until he thought those things might want him back - and then he destroyed them. Vivica was one of those things. Maybe he was a monster. ::

Recall said:
:: Vivica was done. Done with this place and DONE with him. ::

"The rest of them? I don't care that they didn't say anything. I expect it from them. But YOU? I expected better than you, but I don't know why. All of this WORD VOMIT has made something clear to me that I guess I've been ignoring for a long time.."

:: She began to back away from him. ::

"You are no friend to me, Cameron. No family. I don't know when it happened? But somewhere along the way..by your hand. We became strangers."

:: He felt like a passenger in his own body. As if he were watching this interaction between him and Vivica from the corner of the room. His body was not allowing him to process this as he should be processing this. He should have thrown himself at her knees, begged for her forgiveness. Made some kind of effort, some kind of show that he cared, but he couldn't. After Haleigh, after Ava...after Alycia...and then Sharon, he just couldn't. Cameron stepped forward, wanting to connect, because that is what a human being is supposed to do. ::

Recall said:
"No. DON'T touch me. Don't MOVE. Don't say ANYTHING. Don't make this anything OTHER than what it is.and what it is..."

"Is me saying goodbye to you. Whatever part of me you might have had is no longer there. For all intents and purposes, we're divorced. And if the people in this building continue to be as much as a MISERABLE fuck up as you have been? They'll be strangers too and I will see to it that The SIX will be out of OPTIONS...and allies."

:: It had needed to be said. Vivica spun on her heels, turned around making eye contact with Cass as she strutted down the hall as if it were a runway, as if she were Angela Bassett in Waiting to Exhale. Just before she left, she turned to face him one last time. ::

"Get some sleep and stop drinking. You look TERRIBLE."

:: She was gone. In the course of a week..he had lost Haleigh, Ava, Alycia, Sharon and now Vivica. And by proxy that would most likely mean Morgan, Blaze, Dominique, Karen and Nicolas. This carnal act of trying to hold on to someone, to keep her anchored, to keep her near him had cost him everything and he was sure that he was severely mentally broken, but there just wasn't time to deal with that..and he didn't want to. In a few precious moments, every fear he ever had about himself, every bad thing he ever thought about the way he lived his life was confirmed. He was a souless monster and he didn't deserve any of these people, and he would never figure out a way to get ANYBODY to stay by him because he was that broken of a man. Everybody from his mother, to his sisters, to his friends and extended family...they had all left. Perhaps it would only be a matter of time until the few people he had left would come to their senses. ::

Ruby said:

:: He hugged her, because that is what a normal human being was supposed to do in this situation, but he could feel his claws digging through his nails, could feel the scales on his skin start to show. He pulled away from Cassandra. ::

"I need to be alone. I will be in contact with you soon. Goodnight."

:: Cameron walked away from her and returned to his empty penthouse. The lonely king on the throne of The Parthenon. He went into his study, promptly poured himself another glass of whiskey and sat down at his desk, where his phone alerted him that he had a text message. ::

Scion said:
She wasn't going to wait until midnight. She tapped into the server that housed the Hellfire footage, and easily located the different cameras that were planted in the Red Knight's suite. It was going to take some mild editing. She wanted to withhold certain information, like Ashley's involvement, for example. She had plans for Valkyrie and could wait for an opportune moment.

She cut it together with strategy, starting from the moment the Red Knight backhanded her, to the completion of the first round. She removed the sound from the footage, and made sure that there were no shots in which their lips could be read. Then she texted the finished product to Cameron, with a follow-up message. 'I hope you're having as much fun as I am.' And a big, grinning emoji. She could hear her mother's laughter in her mind again. Next up was Zach. He got the same video, the same message.

"I hope you're having as much fun as I am."

:: He watched the video in it's entirety a few times on a loop. After a night of defending his own feelings for her, she had sent him this. Cameron knew how Diana operated, and he knew that this was something Haleigh had sent as some sort of gesture of good faith for Malice. Cameron was Diana's ultimate prey. She delighted in hunting him and in sniffing him out. In the grand scheme of things, this seemed like child's play, or some kind of high school prank. He also realized that he had the power here. After everything he had endured tonight...and throughout his life. He could handle this. He knew how to draw Malice out, how to keep her interested in him. Haleigh had made a mistake in sending this, because Cameron wasn't going to give her the reaction she was looking for, and that's where his power was. If Haleigh wanted to truly be a vessel for Diana, he wasn't going to make it easy on her. He could separate his love for her with the necessity of what needed to be done. If they were going to play war games, he would too. He would remain strong, and he would FORCE Haleigh to have to up the ante in order to impress Diana. He was just as sadistic of the two of them. He thought that Haleigh's decision to leave, no matter her intention, was stupid and foolish. You never BEAT Diana..you SURVIVED Her. And she would ALWAYS exist. He could sense her power, she didn't need a body. She would endure and to think that you could KILL her? Or somehow trap her? It was stupid. ::

:: Walking upstairs and out to his open balcony, he sat cross legged on the ground and closed his eyes. This was a private sanctuary, bound and protected in magick and wards from his own SISTER, FREE from prying eyes, even of the psionic or mystical variety. His hands were in front of them, one over the other, with a bit of distance in between. He began to channel his empathic power into tangible form...SPECIFICALLY, the LOVE that he had for Haleigh, and all the memories tied to those feelings. He poured ALL of it into the Earth, as a swirling orb of bright red electric energy appeared into his hands, getting bigger and bigger, the energy illuminating his face in a hue of red. The one thing that Haleigh had to threaten him with was his feelings for her. So in order to do what needed to be done, in order to get out of this alive, in order to be the person he needed to be...he was quite literally EXTRACTING them from his body. ::

:: There was an old saying that if you loved something, you were supposed to set it free. In this case...he was setting himself free. The energy CRACKLED and swirled as memories of his feelings for her played against the silohuette of his energies. The first time they met, the first time he realized that he loved her, the similarity that they shared. ALL OF IT...being removed from his body. He stood to his feet as the wind blew in the BREEZE and he lifted the ORB over his head, gritting his teeth against the sheer raw power of emotion that he was channeling. He looked up at the stars as the last bit of his true feelings for Haleigh Davidoff left his body. ::

"Goodbye for now."

:: With a WHOOSH! Cameron HURLED the orb into the sky with GREAT speed as it took off like a rocket. It would find its definition on Aerie, in possession of the only person that could protect it...his sister Alison. While she might be tempted to destroy it, and END it..he decided in this moment that if he did want to change, that if he did want somebody to love him for who he was with no question, then he should be able to trust his sister to GUARD and protect this part of him, because she would know the act of strength it took for him to separate it from himself. ::

:: He fell to the ground, feeling a mixture of chaos. He wanted to laugh, he wanted to cry...and then his face settled into stone cold. If Haleigh wanted to get to him, if Diana wanted to get to him, he was not going to make it easier, and he could sense...that far across town, in the walls of the Hellfire Mansion, even as Haleigh was reveling in excess, she would feel even more emptiness, she would feel the SEVERING snap, and she wouldn't know exactly why, but she would have an idea. Her feelings remained just as they were, but Cameron's were no longer there. If he was going to help his family survive through all of this, he couldn't be bothered with his love for Haleigh. He couldn't let Black--Scion cloud his judgment. Diana had enough on him, he wasn't going to allow her to have more. He was done being prey. For his team and for his family, he was going to become a predator of the highest order. It was the only way he could ever possibly earn salvation, cure his demonic lycanthropy. They had said so much to him, but one thing was clear...they were in a war, and this time Cameron wasn't going to be a casualty of it..he was going to be a goddamn GENERAL. He picked up his phone and stared at the message, before crafting his response. ::

"I wish I could hate you."

:: There was no sense in letting Haleigh or Malice know this. Not yet anyway. ::

The Parthenon Hotel

:: Vivica was fuming and exhilirated all at the same time, and she was fighting the dull feeling deep inside her that felt incredibly bad for the things she had just said to somebody that she had considered her brother over the years. But she couldn't look back anymore. She couldn't allow her life and her destiny to be placed in the hands of people who didn't care about her. She needed people on HER side and she needed to have control. Severing Cameron King from her life was a necessary and calculated move. The theme of her life since her return to New York City had been weeding out the people who were important to her and promoting those relationships. Vivica thought she had moved on from this, but it was because she was looking at things from the wrong side. She never thought that CAMERON was the one in The Six that she needed to get away from. It was cathartic and healing, but it also didn't necessarily feel good. Right now, she was still angry. Angry at everything that had happened tonight, everything that had been kept from her. ::

:: The elevator dinged and she found herself on the VIP Suites floor of The Parthenon, a place she herself had a standing suite at whenever she wanted. In her anger, she had forgotten why she initially came to The Parthenon, or why she had told the others at The Clocktower that she was leaving. Dominique, Sharon, Alycia and Richard had come here to check in on The Six, and as she was replaying her encounter with Cameron just now, she had noticed that all of the windows in the hallway were broken. She also noticed that when she smacked Cameron across the face that his jaw seemed incredibly...loose. ::

"Things must be going as SMOOTHLY as ever around here!"

:: Shaking her head, she knocked on the door of Dominique's suite and promptly let herself in. It may have been a bit rude, but what the hell, Vivica was on a roll right now and she had a lot bigger fish to fry. She saw her teammates with Nicolas and Delilah in the living room. Things seemed to be calm, but like always, there was an aura of thick tension. ::

Dominique: "One last thing, a reminder...if you ever need me, you have but to call out, and I will come as quickly as I can."

"Let it be know that this is Dominique speaking for herself, because my ass is done with the whole LOT of you!"

:: Her chest heaved up and down until she realized just how in mixed company she was! ::

[looking at Delilah and Nicolas]

"Sorry. That was bitchy. I don't mean you guys. I mean that... [shouting up to Cameron's floor] BASTARD [normal voice] of a man who lives on the roof!"

:: She turned her attention towards a pissed off Sharon and a...broken up Alycia. ::

"Oh my god...he didn't. With HALEIGH? Wait a minute...of COURSE he did. Alycia...I am so sorry."

:: Vivica made her way over towards Sharon and Alycia. ::

[to Sharon]

"I take it you must be the one that broke his jaw? I noticed how loose it was when I was smacking him in the face!"

"I told Zizi I was here to come check in on the four of you..but I think it's clear that NONE of us should have come here."

[towards Delilah and Nicolas]

"Look I'm feeling pretty PISSED off, but I'm not a heartless bitch. You should go check on your boy, before he leaps off the top floor and you guys become "The THREE"..."

[turning back towards the BoP members]

"Come on...let's get out of here, because I've got somebody ELSE that needs a good smacking. ZACHARY ARMANI."

:: Vivica's chest heaved up and down once again. ::

"But seriously...Delilah, Nicolas. If you need anything, please just reach out. Sorry for coming in here like a damn hurricane. I'm just a little aggrivated..Ava Cassadine trying to KILL me tonight and all."

LOL @ The Three
It looked like three was about to be a crowd. Fuck.

Nicolas...

Owait. Maybe he would snatch victory from the jaws of defeat? Delilah stood up for him and Miss D started to...cry? It was business time. No one hurts the Queen. An arm folded behind my back turns into a miniature railgun with a tungsten carbide projectile...

... Nicolas, you sound like your mother...my sister.

Defcon down. I became myself completely again and stepped forward to Miss D, who HUGS Set-boy! Well played, demonspawn, Respect. Now it was time to go. I place an arm around Miss D and begin to lead her out, whispering in her ear.

It's OK. Whatever you need, I will do it, OK? I will be something special for the ride back so you can relax...

And BOOM! In comes Vivica. She apparently also kicked Cameron King's ass just now. I was wondering if I was supposed to be up there kicking his ass for a split second. Anyway we were now ready to go...

"Come on...let's get out of here, because I've got somebody ELSE that needs a good smacking. ZACHARY ARMANI."

I led them down and turned into something classic to carry them back. Inside was all of the same creature comforts integrated into the old school touches. I let them all in and put on some jazz. Miss D likes to relax to it. I elevate her feet and roll out.

Relax ladies, I have this. 10 minutes to home...

Hellfire -- The Red Knight's Quarters

Haleigh finished her burger and was working on the rest of the fries. She stopped when she felt it, a sharp pain, like being stabbed. It was gone as quickly as it was inflicted. Had it been Zach, or Cameron? A message scrolled across her HUD.

Cameron>> I wish I could hate you.

She read the message with a cold detachment. Something tried to claw its way to the surface, but she shoved it back down again. If she allowed herself to feel something now, it would be worse than dying. She sent him a reply: 'You CAN. I'll show you how to.' She needed him to hate her. She needed them ALL to hate her, because she was worried that if she faced them and they still loved her, it would break her. As soon as the thought crossed her mind she experienced the worst brain freeze of her life, and knew it was Diana warning her again, punishing her for that split second of weakness. Her face contorted in pain until the sensation went away.

Alek: Have you met me?

She looked up at him, the darkness leaving her eyes, replaced by lustful appreciation of him. It was the perfect timing for a distraction.

"Oh, right... you scared me for a second there. I thought you were going to get all romantic on me."

He held out his hand to invite her into the bathroom, and she threw off the comforter and slipped out of bed towards him.

Alek: Though the idea of that gore in your hair turning it a permanent shade of red has its appeals.

She chuckled.

"Well you know, I was a redhead for a long time, before I died again and transferred to this new body."

She gestured towards her hair.

"I guess they kept my hair short in the tube for hygiene. I tried to decide if I cared one way or the other..... then I remembered I can't care about ANYTHING anymore."

wow :( "She needed them ALL to hate her" & " then I remember I don't care about ANYTHING anymore"
The Clocktower

Zach put a hand on her shoulder and she shrugged away from his touch.

Zach said:
"Well do you think we can castrate him then? Because I have NO qualms about giving that a try."

Something approximating a laugh came out of her mouth.

“Apparently there’s a whole army over at Hellfire who would come after us for THAT. He's fucking Ava too, did you know?”

She could feel him lay down, and then his arm was around her pulling her to him.

Zach said:
"You know what? I think you've got the right idea, let's just hole up in here and have some peace. I don't WANT Sharon to come back and yell at me right now. And Haleigh? Fuck. I can't even approach the idea without losing my fucking cool. So I understand if you don't want to talk about why you feel so horrible right now. But if you're just going to lay here, then I'm just going to lay here for a while too, because I have had a REALLY shitty day and misery loves company and I'm tired of adulting."

“If this is some kind of reverse psychology, it’s not going to work. I don’t have a conscience.”

She rolled over towards him, looking thoughtfully into his face. Her voice broke as she spoke, her face contorted with pain.

“Why do we have to feel like this? Billions of people in the world…what does one matter?”

She had to stop this. She had done it before and she could do it again.

Ashley quickly leaned in closer and put her mouth on Zach’s, as her arm slid around his waist to his back.

She pressed the length of her body against his, then pulled back from the kiss, speaking breathlessly.

“Make me forget.”

No, not with you.

He laughed at her.

“Not a chance. I just want to know what it’s like to fuck you when you aren’t covered in blood. For a change of pace. Strictly for comparative reasons.”

That's it, Hallbjörn. Get yourself together.

She stood to join him, and he commented on her hair color.

Scion said:

“Red suits you.”

He smiled before leading her towards the bathroom.

The Parthenon – Dominique’s Suite

Dominique showed a vulnerable side to herself, one that Delilah knew was there but that she didn’t let others see. She softened on Nicolas remaining with the Six – telling him how like his mother he was, something that Delilah knew he needed to hear so badly. If only there was someone to tell her the ways she was like her own mother...

Isis said:
One last thing, a reminder...if you ever need me, you have but to call out, and I will come as quickly as I can.

Delilah smiled, holding out her hand.

“And the same for you, my friend, thank you.”

And then VIVICA came in, like a tornado, alternating bitching out the Six and apologizing to her and Nicolas for doing it.

Vivica said:
"Look I'm feeling pretty PISSED off, but I'm not a heartless bitch. You should go check on your boy, before he leaps off the top floor and you guys become "The THREE"..."

Delilah’s eyebrows raised.

“I think you need to take a deep breath Vivica. And, by the way? Too soon.”

She turned to Nicolas.

“I got Cam. Seeing another male will just induce that tough guy ‘I’m fine’ bullshit, no doubt.”

Vivica said:
"But seriously...Delilah, Nicolas. If you need anything, please just reach out. Sorry for coming in here like a damn hurricane. I'm just a little aggrivated..Ava Cassadine trying to KILL me tonight and all."

“Thanks, Vivica. Take care of yourself. And if you need us, just call, we’ll be there.”

Delilah stopped off at her suite before heading up to Cameron’s. She knocked and let herself in.

“Cameron?”

The Parthenon - Cameron's Penthouse

:: Gone. All of it was gone. The voices, the pain. This aching panic he had to just run away and never look back. For a few moments, he almost felt at peace. He was having a realization that so much of his feelings of anger, guilt and depression were tied to her. He felt like there was finally room for other things. His altercation with The Birds of Prey for instance. He hated the way that he had treated Sharon and Alycia. But there were no words to fix that. Not to mention they were obstinate, and held grudges deeper than any other two people he had met. He wasn't even sure if his actions would make things better, because this fight had shown him that any weakness he displayed would leave the door open to have any number of things thrown into his face for the rest of all time. There was nothing to do now, but to let them be. When it came to Vivica, he did feel the fracture she had left on his heart. The way he had treated her would quite possibly be the biggest mistake he had ever made in his life. ::

:: He managed to finally take a shower after setting down the whiskey, all but ignoring Haleigh's text, because he quite literally didn't care anymore. She was a traitor to The Six, and she would be attacked with everything he had every time he saw her. He would go out of his way to break her. To end her, and to crack her new psionic gifts. If there was anybody that could drive somebody over the edge, it was Cameron King. And now he was going to use that power to protect the people who didn't break under the weight of their origins. Cameron still left room in his heart for Ava, which just made him feel worse about Vivica. But again, there was nothing he could say or do anymore that could fix things. His words meant nothing to her, and he didn't want to hurt her any deeper by making promises he would inevitably break. ::

:: His mind thought of the days ahead and what they might look like. Tactical positions they should take, general housekeeping that would keep them safe, and inspiring words to rally the troops. This space in his mind was now being filled with ideas to become the most deadly and capable version of himself. He would look for cracks in The Inner Circle, ways to incite chaos and break the surge of unity among them. He wouldn't be sitting around waiting for the next attack. It was time to go full force and the next time he saw Morgan, he planned on crafting the best way to do that...WITH her. So far, the ones that stayed with the team seemed to know what needed to be done, and were willing to do it, and really that was half the battle. ::

:: As he got out of the shower, he changed his clothes and once again sat in his study. He had replaced all technology in the Parthenon that had been Clandestine issued, and as soon as he saw his sister, he would urge her to protect that technology with magick. His holographic computer displayed mission files and intel on The Hellfire Club and the old MysTech. He was looking for any single lead that would start something in motion, something that would give them an advantage. ::

Delilah: "Cameron?"

:: Finally, a friendly voice. He called for Delilah from down the hall, and as she entered his study, he pulled her into a hug. ::

"I know...I'm an idiot. But I can make this better."

:: thinking for a moment. ::

"We should have a formal meeting soon. With The Inner Circle already attacking The Birds of Prey, it's time for us to start looking at targets.."

:: His holographic monitors swirled with information. ::

"I'm looking to see the easiest most effective hit we can give them. Scouring public records and names, maybe trying to find real estate holdings they don't want us to know about. We might be able to take out a bit of their research. Talisman seems to be the representation of a new found desire to rebuild the old MysTech, so we should scout old locations like the Citadle, maybe see if they are building somewhere outside of the catacombs."

:: Delilah could instantly tell a shift had occurred in Cameron. To know what he had just endured, and to see him so eerily calm and focused was disturbing to say the least. He hadn't spoken about his mother about Haleigh or Ava with anybody since finding out, and now Delilah was seeing that it appeared as if he was blocking it out all together. ::

"We can reassess the intel we've gotten on Malice. We've been plotting to kill her or hinder her for months now. But it's not that easy. She could live as a psionic entity, with no need for a body. We might want to hit up the magic shop, see if we can find any mystical means to destroy such entities or at least bind them to the astral plane."

:: he looked at her ::

"right? There's got to be something there."

The Parthenon - Cameron's Suite

Cameron was in the study, and as she approached him, her heart broke for him, knowing what he must be going through. He wasn’t the only member of the Six who had ever been in love with someone despised by everyone else. She hugged him tightly.

Cameron said:
"I know...I'm an idiot. But I can make this better."

“I’m so sorry, Cameron.”

He released her, and she held up what she had brought with her from her apartment.

“Cheetos, or bourbon?”

Cameron said:
"We should have a formal meeting soon. With The Inner Circle already attacking The Birds of Prey, it's time for us to start looking at targets…"

Delilah tilted her head at him, confused.

“Targets can wait, Cam – how are YOU dealing with all of this? Sharon told me what happened with Alycia…”

But Cameron kept plowing on, a million miles an hour.

Cameron said:

“I was just AT the Citadel…”

Cameron said:

Delilah looked around her as if she suspected she was being Punk’d. She spoke slowly.

“Yeah, that’s a good idea but – don’t you want to talk about what’s happened? I’m here for you, Cameron, no matter what. You know that, right?”

The Parthenon Hotel - Top Floor

:: She caught him in the moment, she pressed about him wanting to talk about things. He couldn't dodge these things forever, but he was sick of his narrative being that he was always in some state of perpetual emotional panic. Delilah had gone through some real shit. She had a daughter and a man that she loved that she couldn't see, a man that people might have actually hated more than HALEIGH, which said something. ::

:: He calmed himself and switched out of tactical mode, and into friend mode, because Delilah was one of the only friends he had left, and despite his best attempts, he had still managed to keep her. Cameron wouldn't survive this without her. ::

"I don't have much to say anymore, Delilah. Look...I've tried to be a good guy, and a hero, the heart of this family, and it turns out that I suck at it. I'm just terrible at it actually. But if there is one thing I'm good at...it's Diana. So, I can't worry about them anymore. I can't let my shortcomings get in the way of things anymore."

"I can't let my problems continue to be OUR problems. Did I love Haleigh? I think I did. But that love is a weakness. It's not a strength...so I took care of it. It's not there any more and we won't be hindered by it again. It's time for us to face facts...Haleigh and Ava are our enemies. Whatever their motivations, it simply doesn't matter anymore. We have to shoot to kill and that's exactly what I plan on doing."

:: He grabbed her shoulder. ::

"I'm still here, Delilah. It's still me. When the time is right...MAYBE I can let it all out, but I'm starting to think that's always been this team's problem, letting it all out. Acting on sheer emotion and love and compassion. Its always been our undoing..."

:: Cameron sighed ::

"So on my end? I'm not letting it be what takes me down anymore. I have to separate myself from what I feel and what our reality is. I can't worry about Haleigh's true intentions, or the fact that my mother is walking around in this world and that everybody wants to kill her, and that I want to know her first...even just for a little bit. Know what I got from her, understand my sisters and myself a bit more. I'm an empath..and that's always made me want to feel. Want others to feel..but I never realized just how powerful apathy can be."

:: He hugged her. ::

"I haven't shut off completely. I would die for you a thousand times over, everyday if necessary and I would kill anybody that threatened to harm Alexia..or Bishop for that matter. I would do the same thing for Blaze and Morgan, Nicolas, Cass and the others. But the people outside of these walls? I can't be concerned with unless absolutely necessary. Our concern causes them pain, brings them in too close, and eventually destroys them...and I've had enough blood on my hands..."

:: He looked at her with a flicker of the Cameron King she knew him to be in his eyes. ::

"So...can you just be there for me? While I do this? While I try to be what I need to be. Can you just let me...process at my own pace?"

:: smirking ::

"Or we could actually just get burritos and not talk about anything. I've drank enough liquor in the past few days to bankrupt a distillery.."

The Parthenon – Cameron’s Study

Cameron said:
"I can't let my shortcomings get in the way of things anymore."

She studied him for a long moment, her arms crossed over her chest.

“Your shortcoming isn’t that you aren’t a good guy, Cam, it’s that you don’t believe that you are. And it gets you into-“

She waved her arms in the air.

“Well, into shit like this.”

Cameron said:
"I can't let my problems continue to be OUR problems. Did I love Haleigh? I think I did. But that love is a weakness. It's not a strength...so I took care of it. It's not there any more and we won't be hindered by it again."

Her eyes narrowed as she studied him, listening to these things coming out of his mouth.

“What did you do, Cameron?”

He grabbed her shoulder, and it startled her. Had he gone mad, or was it something WORSE?

Cameron said:

“It’s what keeps us human, Cam…”

He hugged her as he explained that he had somehow virtually cut off all his emotions about Haleigh and Ava, which was what was creating Cold Calculating Cameron. This could not be good for him. It was frightening enough when Haleigh did it, but Cameron? Cameron without emotions was like peanut butter without jelly. She held him tight, a worried expression on her face. How in the hell was she going to fix this one?

Cameron said:
"So... can you just be there for me? While I do this? While I try to be what I need to be. Can you just let me...process at my own pace?"

She pursed her lips, taking in a deep breath and letting it out while she searched his face. And then she took his hand.

“I don’t like it. And I think it’s going to bite you in the ass about a thousand times.”

She paused, then squeezed his hand.

“But if this is what you need…I’ll be there when you decide to let it out, though, okay? You are not alone in this.”

She pulled him into another hug, more because she needed it than she thought that he did.

“But you are MY hero, Cameron King, and don’t you try and tell me any different.”

Cameron said:
"Or we could actually just get burritos and not talk about anything. I've drank enough liquor in the past few days to bankrupt a distillery."

She released him and laughed as she wiped away a tear from her eye.

“You can watch me drink then, cause I sure as hell need one.”
