Has anyone seen this? what are you reactions to it? I had planned to go last week but I didnt get around to it and after my experience with 28 Days Later AND George Romero's Land of the Dead (he needs to be shaken HARD for making that horrid mess of a movie) i've really grown cold over the whole "zombie" sub genre within horror films. my hope NOW lies with Resident Evil: Extinction.

Well I never saw 28 Weeks Later but I did see it's predecessor and I thought it was good. But anyways if you want a really good Zombie Film then just watch Shaun of the Dead, it is the greatest! It's got blood, guts, romance, comedy, action and Bill Nighy (who is one of my most favorite actors) all wrapped into one movie! Another zombie comedy that is set in a stereotypical 1950's TV wonderland where the families get along, they all have outdated moral values and everyone believes the Russians are evil, unholy bastards that should be wiped off the face of the Earth with our Nuclear Bombs. Ahem. Anyways Zombies come to town and begin their feasting but the townspeople defeat them and end up demestocating the Zombies like Dogs or Cats. But that's all I know about this movie...I wish I could remember it's name though.

Are you serious? Dude, I LOVE Shaun of the Dead, but you can't put it up there as the greatest zombie movie. It's a frickin' parody.

28 Days Later I don't feel is really a zombie movie. It's more a "what is the world coming to" apocalyptic thing. It's no secret Danny Boyle is my favorite director, but he actually made the thing a story instead of just a genre horror film and he also used a lot of new digital techniques for the time.

I saw 28 Weeks Later the day it came out. Different writer and director but Boyle and Garland were executive producers. This one is much gorier I thought, and has much more of a "scare" factor. Though as I said I think that was by design as the first was not meant as a true horror film. I really enjoyed it - Robert Carlyle was fabulous though his role was much different than I expected it to be going in. As I said to Spells when it came out, if you didn't like the first one this one is definitely worth seeing because it is done differently (though I still think well done). But if you LIKED the first one I still think you'll love this one. It's different, but not in a bad way.

:)

well George Romero, the FATHER of the zombie genre said that his original "night of the living dead" was not intended to be remembered as a "zombie flick" it too was designed to provide a shocking metaphor for societal chaos, the social hierarchy being over turned etc etc. so he sired a genre that he didnt intend to. but clearly he didnt it right with LAND OF THE DEAD  that movie fell flat on its decrepit face LOL

Shaun of the Dead was a tongue in cheek to me. it was predictable in the premise and yet it seemed to DELIBERATELY poke fun at the most tragic moments.

28 Days later just didnt do it for me. but i AM going to see 28 weeks later simply because there hasnt been anything else i've been motivated to see LOL.

Omg I LOVE Shaun of the Dead. It's freakin' hysterical. I love when the zombies were outside the window, and they just closed the drapes to keep them from getting in. LOL

As for 28 Days Later, I nearly fell asleep during the film when I went to see it in the theater. A half hour of the movie literally felt like 3. I thought it was horrible. So, i'll wait for 28 Weeks LAter to come on DVD. I'm not about to waste 10 bucks on it. lol

I was actually riveted by 28 days later, I liked the storyline, I liked the female character, and I just really liked the storyline. That wasn't really a Zombie movie to me but as Vil said an end of the world Movie..

I have heard bad things about this one, but 28 days later is probably one of my favorite movies, and I dont want that to be ruined by an awful sequel.

28DL is one of my favorite movies as well, so I don't think you have to worry about seeing the sequel. THe bad press is probably haters of the first one lol ;)

I prefered the first one. Wil the lovely Cillian Murphy......huh what.
Anyway this one was just a good enough way to pass over and hour and there were people screaming in the audience. Usually you'll get a gasp at zombie films, but yup full blown screams coming from all directions...not sure what noises the women were making though :D

I couldn't get into the first one at all. I'll have to re-watch it again. I actually liked the remake zombie films like Land of the Dead and Dawn of the Dead. Although the zombie sub-genre is not a favorite for me I still enjoy watching them. I heard from a friend that 28 Weeks Later was more gory than the first film. Are we talking high gore here? I'll probably wait for the sequel to come out on DVD.

What I did like about the film was mostly the plot. I think realistic films are much more scarier than a fictitious film. There actually could be some sort of infectious plague that could turn humans into man-eating cannibals lol.
